  1. Yesterday (5/31/23) in between doctors appointments I went to the local course and worked on chipping and putting, then went to the range and went through the bag hitting 3/4 shots with irons first. Primary on stance, posture and tempo. Then hitting driver and then returning to some of the irons full swing. I normally take thee irons and driver for practice or wedges and putter.
  2. Good morning i have been up made coffee let the dog out watered the plants in the front of the house before the sun comes over the houses across the street (we have no shade trees I front). On my second cup of coffee, going to do a lite workout as I’m going to be shoveling wood chips that we use for mulch. No golf today, playing tomorrow morning early. Next week is three days of golf. I hope everyone has a good day.
  3. I like to hole everything out. I get a little annoyed when after a long putt they decide if it’s a gimme. I always thought the standard length was the club grip, but with the newer grips and longer putters that’s not the case. I insist on holing out birdie and par putts.
  4. When I first got my current set of irons I also got a set of head covers. Quickly they became a hassle and eventually I lost a couple. I now use them for when I travel.
  5. I like 45 minutes to an hour that way I’m not rushing. Depending on the course I may hit some balls, but definitely I stretch and putt.
  6. I use a small brush and damp towel during a round. I will use warm water and soap at home doing the grips as well as the club faces.
  7. I don’t always because it’s depends upon the course and the tee time. Sometimes I play early in the morning so I stretch at home and at the course I will chip and putt.
  8. I have 2 pairs of sqarzs. They’re a little of both with fewer spikes and more of the nubs.I’m wasn’t sold on the hype that I would hit it longer. But they are comfortable and I seem to be more stable. They say free replacement spikes but you pay for shipping. It’s still cheaper than a full set of replacement spikes.
  9. I have 2 bags both well used. My primary bag is a bag boy stand bag for riding in a cart and sometimes with my push cart. My other bag is a oglio light carry bag for walking or using my push cart. I’m constantly looking to replace a bag, but haven’t found anything that check the boxes for either.
  10. I rotate gloves during a round. I normally will use two. Here in the mid-Atlantic when it can get humid I will typically use 3 gloves a round. It’s been a long time since I’ve put a hole in a glove. I tend to compare them to the grips, I will replace them when they get slick and no longer help with gripping the club.
  11. I am currently using primarily one ball. During the time of the year that the temps.,drop I carry 2 balls and rotate each hole and stretch out the rounds as most of the time it’s just practice. When it warms up I change balls more often and depending upon the type of damage done but the odd cart path, trees or any other obstacles I might make contact with I will pull it. The game is hard enough so I will take any advantage possible.
  12. I found all the topics informative. I have been interested in replacing my driver but I am reluctant until the current situation is more stable as I want to get fitted. I’m sure people that paid full price for drivers aren’t going to be happy to see prices dropping. The golf balls have always had some degree of tolerance, but with marketing price and people like you doing independent testing and calling them out they may tighten things up. Here in Maryland our courses have just opened up with all the usual conditions. Some of the private clubs were trying to recruit new members before the pandemic. It will be interesting to see what’s next. Like you said it’s having required dining fees when no dining is being offered. The cart, bag storage & driving range fees that would be losing. Keep up the good work.
  13. Here in metro Baltimore the county run courses are closed at least until April 4th. The city courses have gone to lesser tee times so everyone has their own cart. As always walking is an option. I don’t know how long that will last.
  14. We found a nice smaller hotel a couple of blocks from there and closer to the train station. I guess for a one time, a cab is the way to go.
  15. If you stayed in London, what was your mode of transportation? My wife and I go to London/England countryside often. When in London I am limited to public transportation. I have played a local municipal course and take the tube and bus to get there. The course is nice, they do have a animal problem digging on some greens and bunkers. The loaner clubs are so so. I have also played in the Lake District, Cornwall and a nine hole municipal course in Tumbridge Wells. We plan on returning to the south of London and while my wife is with a women’s walking week, I’ll be playing golf. No plans confirmed yet, but will report after we get back.
  16. I am in Baltimore and can travel given enough notice. I don’t usually lay on weekends but can make exceptions. steve
  17. I to had a hard time answering with your choices in each question. Number 3 golf etiquette encompasses several of the other answers and doesn’t mention technology. The overuse of range finders. I also believe that players that are occasional or getting up in age/ability need to look more closely at the course and tee boxes that they play.
