  1. This is an interesting development. From what I’ve read on shop reviews it seemed that the supernova was a favorite among owners. I know that in the past I had a mid-mallet putter that I couldn’t get in the groove with when it came to distance putting, so I switched to a blade. I just got the Grandsport 35, which I’m hoping to take out on the course this week or next, and so of course I’m interested how it’ll do on the green, since I’ve only be able to practice <6ft putts indoors.
  2. @WaffleHouseTour That is very cool! Looking forward to hear how it does on the course.
  3. Congrats, @GolfSpy_BEN. You’re one of those guys that makes the forum vibrant.
  4. Heyo! Along with the sim range, I’ve been practicing my putting on my PuttOUT mat. I haven’t gotten around to acquiring gates and mirrors. I’ve just been working on pacing and aiming. I’ve been feeling pretty good about it, but I’ve added a new tool to my mat. After some putting, I realized my putts have been a little too consistently good. Then I remembered a review here 2-3 years ago which mentioned that a groove will form in the mat, ensuring that the ball remains on target to the pressure putt trainer every time. Now I use the Dyson every so often to erase the groove. That said, I’ve been feeling pretty comfortable with 6-foot putts, and I can’t wait to find out how it goes on the course.
  5. @Erin B @BreakfastBall15 Hang in there guys, for you and yours. Good vibes.
  6. @Dead Solid Bogey I think “limited golf” could mean match play instead of stroke play. Best with the medicos and your gut.
  7. I’ve got a variety. Wedges: Lamkin 360 Crossline Irons: Winn DriTac 2 Hybrid: GP Tour Velvet plus 4 3W and Driver: CPX As others have mentioned, I like DriTac 2, but when it’s time to change them out I’ll probably go in a different direction. I used to have MCC plus 4s, but I think I’m not a fan of corded grips.
  8. Morning all. Whew! I finally got caught up on the TaylorMade Qi10 testing thread. Talk about drama! I’m probably watching too much “Blown Away” on Netflix, but that thread needs 1) to be turned into a reality show and 2) a decent soundtrack. 300-yard carries?! A golf swing so fast it shattered the club head?! Okay, I might be exaggerating a little, but still, amazing stuff, and it sounds like the testers are having a blast. Thanks for the morning read over coffee. Have a good one!
  9. Goldens are the worst. My wife also had a golden when we met. During my time with the dog, Bella, she found the worst things and ate her way into trouble and an emergency vet visit, often on the weekend and/or at 3 in the morning. Nothing was out of her reach. No table or counter was too tall for her. Her strange food choices included: 100% cacao chocolate prescription strength ibuprofen 100 cable nails (small nails with plastic clips to hold cables to the wall). The insurance company must have hated us.
  10. Morning all. Today’s forecast is cloudy, but the sun is out shining. I was out early at the indoor range and came back to find that my dog ate a pack of tortillas. Walked straight into his crate as soon as I found the empty plastic wrapping on the floor. He’s picked up some bad habits from my SIL’s dog.
  11. Morning all! Quiet weekend with household chores. Hope you have a good one!
  12. @Peaksy68 Glad to hear it. I was wondering how long you would have to stay at the hospital. Sounds like just a weekend or so. That’s fortunate. Hope your recovery goes well.
  13. I think Steve’s point here is pretty spot on. The question “is golf’s dress code outdated?” has been taken in two different directions: Is golf’s dress code out of fashion? Does golf’s dress code exclude people with financial limitations from playing golf? I took the article to be about the first direction. My opinion, golf’s dress code just needs to be updated. As a teenager I skied. We used to say, there are skiers and ski bunnies—“bunnies” being the ones who were in it for the fashion and not the skiing. So, really, if someone wants to flaunt the dress code, it helps to bring some skills to the course as well. Eventually the code will get updated. Regarding the second direction, I gotta say, my opinion, it’s not the golf dress code that financially excludes people, it’s golf. Of course, there are ways to play it cheaply, but in the end it’s still one of the most expensive sports to invest in. Running, swimming, cycling, tennis—all cheaper. If someone says, “I’m in it for the love of the game,” they’ll find a way, just like Tony Finau and Tony’s dad, or get inspired by stories like Tony Finau. Can a community help some underprivileged play the game they love? Absolutely, but it’s dependent on the community’s goals and helping underprivileged play golf may not be a high enough priority. So for me, if I’m hellbent on wanting to see the dress code changed at my golf course, then I guess I better get on a board or in a position where I can influence or make that decision.
  14. Welcome! I see the heavens are smiling upon your bag.
  15. Morning all. Just finalized a the last few details on our little pre-Easter getaway next week. Nothing spectacular and no golf involved. Just me and my wife on a relaxing weekend. Sun’s out, so we’re going for a long dog walk. @ronnieg Those Mizunos are beautiful. The fact that they likely went wonky during shipment makes me all the more amazed by TaylorMade’s driver packaging and shipping to the Qi10 testers. Have a good one!
  16. I’m of that generation/upbringing that mandated that I tuck in my shirt. Period. Then about five or 10 years ago, my wife said in the politest way possible that I look like an old man whenever I tuck in my shirts. I started looking around sure enough everyone with a tucked-in shirt had white hair. I mean, I’ve got gray growing in, but I don’t necessarily want to advertise it. So, yeah, tucked-in shirts is just antiquated fashion. That was my first thought, too, but “sweatpants” was always a strange term. It always makes me think of the high school wrestlers trying to maintain their weight class.
  17. Hey all, I just updated my review to include some number on the club’s performance, a little background on the shaft and pictures of how the club head’s black finish has worn.
  18. I don’t know. Wimbledon has a dress code. It’s one of the things that makes the tournament stand out among the US, French and Australian Open. Style and practicality hasn’t suffered because of it, and I think the same can be said for pro golf as well. Should I be subject to a dress code as a golfer at my level? It doesn’t bother me. Collars are practical in both cold and warm weather. Shorts are allowed. Is the act of having a dress code antiquated? Not to me. I don’t feel as though I’m subject to a sort of oppression or limitation on my freedom of self-expression. But listen, if you feel it’s your right to golf in a T-shirt, shorts and Chuck Taylors, it doesn’t bother me. But you’re going to keep pace of play, right?
  19. That explains how I missed it! I forgot about the time change!
  20. Morning all. Best weather of the week is today, but unfortunately it’s not a golf day. The weather for the forecastable future lies somewhere between this … … and this … Sends some good vibes @Peaksy68’s way. He’s enduring hospital food at the moment. Have a good one!
  21. @ryan.mzzz Thanks for asking the question, and @RoverRick thanks for answering it. This is a tremendous help to me in clarifying thoughts around the green. I have a general confidence with my wedges, in that I know my yardages with 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 swings. And while I have bladed them around the green, it hasn’t been often enough for me to be afraid of them, especially since switching to CB wedges. Since using an indoor range, when playing a round Trackman always defaults to 58° whenever I’m within 80 yards of the hole. Regardless of lie or relation to the green or hole, it’s 58°. At first, I thought it was just defaulting, and I’d switch to a 7, 8 or 9-iron for a chip. But after a while I started trying my 58° in those situations. After reading this, I can see now it really is just a default. My 58° makes sense in about half the situations, but really, I’d be better off chipping in the other half. I want to work on the rule of 12 (and Dave Pelz clock system). I don’t really have a set process for determining which shot and which club to use. If I’m being honest, I just say to myself, “First, get on the green safely, then worry about two-putting.”
  22. Whew, glad to hear you made it through this okay. Rest and relax, feel better soon.
  23. Looks like I missed the call tonight. Must have been a short one. Ah, well. See ya next time.
