  1. I don't know how people can be comfortable in jeans anyways. But a lot of public courses near me have dropped all dress code stipulations. They aren't worried about looks, just cash. Take Dead Aim
  2. But where will I find a good pair of wool hose?????[emoji23] Take Dead Aim
  3. I'm 36 and trying to accomplish the same things. Let's get after it this year!!!! Take Dead Aim
  4. I agree with you on the research@revkev but for me it needs to be definitive. For example I was eating through the Shot Scope books the other day and found contradictory data, or at least thier conclusions. In their driver section the data suggested hitting driver all the time no matter what. But in their approach shot section they state that it is paramount importance to be in the fairway as that is the best way to get it close to the flag. Wellllll which is it? Rip driver to have a shorter approach or make sure one is in the fairway to give the best chance to knock it close? There is no real conclusion here and one has to decide what approach is best based on their own skills and confidence. Take Dead Aim
  5. I used to do this a lot. No prep before playing go out and have a rough few holes 1-4 and kind of check out. Then reset on the back 9 and go on a tear. Now it can only happen at my home course where the back 9 is far tougher than the front. I posted a lot of 36-42 type scores over the last few years. Take Dead Aim
  6. The few lessons I took this is something the pro helped me understand. The where you miss can be just as important for score as why you miss the green. Take Dead Aim
  7. Main goals: -Get handicap to all time low, 5.4 currently best ever was 2.7 in 2018 -Better golf shape. Keep losing weight. Got up to 270 when baby came, down to 235-240 now. Goal is 200. Get back to yoga for flexibility. -Focus. I can feel rushed out there. Everything needs to slow down. Playing without fear, stay within myself and 100% on every shot. -Place in a tournament Big goals: -Scratch or better handicap -Win a tournament Take Dead Aim
  8. No, no, yes I rock the white belt! Most of my pants are Izod and Haggar Cool 18, much more affordable than the other golf brands and very durable. I am fine wearing pants until it gets above 80 then it's shorts. Take Dead Aim
  9. I have a couple shorts with a plaid pattern, but all my pants are solid. But I'll wear just about any color combo Take Dead Aim
  10. It's the exact opposite, as I play a ton of public golf and there's gopher holes dug by weekend hacks at almost all courses. And those bare spots would be marked in white lines Ground Under Repair if they even existed at tournament level establishments, country clubs, and resorts. There should be leeway in the rules for this discretion. High end courses take care of these things. The public do not. Take Dead Aim
  11. Let there be color! I love the fun or loud designs that are coming out recently. What I don't like are the designs and high end companies that try to bring their street look to the course. Things like cropped pants or slim fit shirts. I'll never like flat-brimmed hats either. I think there's enough out there for everyone to find their own style though. Personally I like to match a solid color polo with a contrasting pair of pants. Sometimes stripes or a pattern is ok. I use hats, shoes, and belts to bring in even more color. Take Dead Aim
  12. Yes this is dumb. Let Westwood move the ball over half an inch and play on. Stupid oversight by the USGA on the rules. At least it was filled and leveled and not like the potholes we see on public tracks. An easy way to say what's a divot is either if a player is in an area designed to have grass and there is not grass under the ball AND/OR any part of the ball comes to rest below the intended playing surface. Take Dead Aim
  13. The way you set everything up for us was a great treat, made a great day even better! I got to play a local Donald Ross designed CC through the local chapter, it was cool just to see the scorecard with my name printed on it, all official looking. Take Dead Aim
  14. Wow that's awesome. Would love to do this for my home course and tournaments. Take Dead Aim
  15. It will be nice to see Kupcho or Ernst win. Kang and Chun are the only other names I recognize but they're pretty far back. Or does Ciganda bounce back from faltering yesterday? Take Dead Aim
  16. We could also say the rubber grip. Hand wrapping leather had to be so difficult and precise. Take Dead Aim
  17. Didn't know this was here, awesome Best: 1. Titleist 915 Driver - my first fitting 2. Titleist 714CB Irons - was fitted into the 918s with x100s found these for so cheap on ebay 3. Vokey 58* wedge - I update it but this has been in the bag since 2008 4. Original Adidas Tour360s - these shoes were comfortable and lasted forever, even the waterproofing 5. MacGregor Muirfield 20th Irons - found these at a rural driving range in 1998. They were my gamers for a decade Worst: 1. Cleveland CG10 Wedges - pro told me I needed high bounce, boy did my short game go to trash with these 2. Adidas Tour360 2019 - most uncomfortable golf shoes I ever owned 3. Cobra X Speed Driver - even after reshafting, I never hit it consistent 4. MCC Grips - the originals felt rock hard and slick, took me 15 years before trying the Plus 4s 5. Callaway Golf Balls - any one I've tried since the HX series have been terrible. Take Dead Aim
  18. It has a line drawing tool. You can measure anything on the map. Take Dead Aim
  19. Was there something before that accomplished the same type of visual aid? The early 2000s was when I got into golf so I don't recall putters that weren't in the Anser-type head shape, Bulleye, or Zebras. Even if it wasn't the first it still led to the alignment aid boom in mallet putters that's still going with Triple Track. Take Dead Aim
  20. The original Odyssey 2-ball. Everybody that didn't have a Scotty bagged that thing when I was a caddy. I also think the TaylorMade R7 drivers because those were the first with adjustable weights. I agree with you 100% on the original Pro V1 because that solid core ball changed everything. Let's just be realistic. The USGA hasn't changed ball or club specs in a decade plus. Wasn't the last major change them rolling back wedge grooves? My point is everything is maxed out to those specifications already. When manufacturers talk about revolutionary changes, realistically we're looking at things like making the cover of golf balls tenths of a millimeter thicker or thinner or moving the CG half a centimeter deeper in a club head. Without major USGA changes or the development of a truely revolutionary material for club construction this is as good as it's gonna be. Take Dead Aim
  21. It's sunny but topping out at 35 back in Ohio, so that's today's plan. Take Dead Aim
  22. I have a notebook I carry and take two or three lines of notes per hole. I look at actual yardage vs. what's started on the scorecard. Then I note the tee shot, can I hit driver ot do I need to back off. Then I note the club(s) I expect to hit into the green and where the good miss is, short or right, etc. I use Google Earth to figure all this out. Would anyone be interested in a deep dive post in how to use Google Earth to plot out shots on a course? Take Dead Aim
  23. I feel personally offended as is going to stay in the mid 30s this weekend and shoot up to almost 60 Mon-Tue-Wed Take Dead Aim
  24. That's the reason I want to test them. Though I've got dozens of balls already so I may wait for the test of the Black as well and purchase the mixed pack they sell. Take Dead Aim
