  1. Thanks. Any specific mirror recommendations in your mind or is a mirror a mirror?
  2. Ha ha! If you don't buy them you're going to hate yourself. And then hate leads to fear, fear leads to suffering....
  3. Thanks. What is the particular aspect that PuttOut claims to train or help with?
  4. So we're in the middle of a blizzard right now so I wasn't able to get to the gym today. Just 4 inches of snow but winds at 50 mph, or to this group a 5-club wind. I still got the truck out of the garage (despite the "you're crazy" looks from the wife) and knocked out SuperSpeed Level 4, then resorted to my home gym equipment for what turned out to be a solid workout. Med Ball Slams - 25 pound ball, 3 x 5 (Probably too heavy a ball for the "move fast" intent of this exercise, but I had to work with what I had) Dumbbell Curls - 60s, reps at 6, 2 Pinwheel Curls - 50s, reps at 9, 3 Bulgarian Squats w/Jump - 40s, 2 x 6 (I could go heavier but seeing as this was the first time I'm adding the jump into each rep I wanted to start with a weight I was sure was safe) Calf Raises- 90s, reps on the staircase to burnout...hey, it's a home workout... Stiff-Legged Deadlift - 90s, 2 x 18 (Again, could go heavier but it's home gym...) Standing Anti-Rotation - Green Fitness Band, 3 x 18
  5. So this is my basement putting green. End to end I can roll it about 11 feet. I typically roll about 50-100 putts a day, starting first with rolling 30 6-footers in a row (and start back over if I can't do it consecutively). Drill wise, I subscribe to a Stockton style of putting, so my go-to drill is left hand only putts concentrating on keeping the putter low and square to the target line. The problem (maybe), is that while I have plenty of drills and appropriate training aids (notable PlaneMate) for full swing, my putting practice and training is...putting. I really think making gains in my putting will make the difference in my scores, but I'm not sure how to specifically train for it. I can say that I tend to be very streaky and I often find myself searching for my setup, so I'm inclined to pick up a putting mirror to help ingrain my set up and work on start line training. Anyone have any thoughts on what to invest in with regards to putting training aids? If a mirror, are all mirrors the same or does anyone recommend one in particular? Thanks. Oh, and all those short putters around my ER2 in the pic are my kids' flatsticks...I'm not experimenting with length ha ha.
  6. Yeah I saw that post, his swing is looking very good. Cody is doing some weight training and SuperSpeed though, so not sure how much speed gains can be attributed to one particular aspect of his overall training.
  7. Same here really. The aid is great for getting me to control the club face with pivot versus hands and arms, probably the main thing I've needed to work on.
  8. Yeah, we're in agreement, I'm just saying that if memory serves this is the first PlaneMate ad I've seen that emphasizes it's utility for distance gains. And, like you seem to be confirming, if you're a low handicap who doesn't struggle with an over the top move, it's questionable that PlaneMate use will generate distance gains for you. It's still an excellent aid for a low handicapper, I'm just skeptical of distance gains at that range. His "challenge" specifically referring to a 16 handicap would seem to confirm that.
  9. I did. It's interesting too, I'm not sure I recall Martin pushing the PlaneMate on the basis of distance gains before. Not saying I don't think it will help you gain distance, it absolutely will, but I don't think that's ever been the central point of his sales pitch (for lack of a better term) before. I would also guess the distance gains relative to handicap are an important part of this challenge. The resist, resist, relax, rotate mantra is designed to get you to shallow the club and promote an in to out swing path. One could speculate that a 16 handicap would be more likely to be fighting an over the top move that would sap distance.
  10. Bravo, looks like great progress and that you're really sticking with it. Especially the PlaneMate work...I've found it tough to make strapping it on a habitual thing but am doing good for the past 2 weeks. How are you tracking your numbers on the range...do you have a personal monitor?
  11. First, thank you to you and your fellow commissioners. Second, apologies for what's probably a newb question, but having 5 copies available of each player...what does that look like on draft night? I'm assuming we'll see the same player listed 5, 4, 3 etc., separate times so we'll know he's still available?
  12. Yeah, you've sold me...I'm about a week away from pulling the trigger on a 22 degree.
  13. Some very good questions. Actually, last night was a rough one. Ended up staying up much later than I wanted to yet still got up at 4, so I was only running on 4 hours. As for diet, since putting on the 15 pounds I wanted to I've moved down to a maintenance calorie level of 2700, which is consistent with my TDEE. But, it's very high protein and lower carb, with an intent to do some "body re-composition" to add some muscle but shed some fat, gradually. So, low carbs and low sleep probably didn't help...good point I hadn't thought of. Ball slams...I'm warming up to them. In this COVID environment the gym I go to put away the more traditional leather-bound ball, so the only one available is the hard rubber style. So, I get the awkward feeling of a lot of eyes pointed my way when I start slamming that thing everywhere! Also, I'm doing a couple different varieties but I'm not sure how to properly "title" the movement in this thread so I'm just going with the generic description. But, I like them, I can see the potential for power & speed development simply because of the ballistic nature of the exercise.
  14. Definitely something to get fitted for of course. Part of my affection for the SIM DHY is that I had one of the old Adams DHY's and loved it, wish I still had it. I tend to hate all things TaylorMade too, but willing to try this one...
  15. I'm sure many of us have done that, myself included. For me, especially in that part of the bag...5 wood, hybrid, utility iron, I always seem to be tinkering there.
  16. Have to ask, how did you end up with it in the first place then? Tinkering?
  17. Think that's a lot of us on here. Me, still thinking about SIM DHY, SM8s...
  18. SuperSpeed Level 4 is kicking my butt, to the point that I'm honestly wondering about overtraining. Just seems like a lot of reps. I had a chance to get on a FlightScope yesterday and bang out some short irons (and I was very pleased with how I was hitting it), but I felt gassed before I even started the protocol today. Anyway, hit the gym and again tried to up the weight where I could: Med Ball Slams - 10 pound ball, 3 x 5 Dumbbell Bench Press - 95s, reps at 6, 1 Machine Shoulder Press - 150, reps at 7, 1 Machine Dip - 250, reps at 11, 3 (Lowered the seat on this for more ROM and found I should have been there all along) Machine Pulldown - 190, reps at 6, 1 Cable Rows - 190, reps at 8, 3 Standing Cable Internal Rotations - 20, 3 x 10 Standing External Rotations - 20, 3 x 10 I know, lots of machines this workout. Again, especially after the heavy dumbbell sets I try to give the joints a bit of a break for a workout.
  19. Hard work beats talent when talent won't work hard! (Corny I know, but I like it.) Varying skill levels will determine how quickly you can improve, but at the end of the day it boils down to your willingness and diligence to put in the reps, based on the prescription your instructor gives you. If you can work out (and stick to) an aggressive practice routine, for the drills you are instructed to do and especially for your short game, the sky is the limit!
  20. Damn, already heard from Harry asking for my mailing address...
  21. Thanks fellas. I signed in just in time to hear it!
