  1. I'm in. I'm with @B.Boston though, I could really use some fantasy golf for dummies though...any pointers? Having never played it's hard for me to wrap my head around a "start 'em/sit 'em" format based on drafted teams when players you draft might not opt to play in a given event...what am I missing?
  2. Despite my recent TS3 hybrid buys I still want to pick up a TM DHY. We'll see. Santa is bringing me next season's supply of Bridgestone's and a polo (I know because I bought them, handed them to the wife, and said "here, wrap these") but I'm wondering if she might have picked anything else up. 10 year anniversary in January too, and the wife knows she's getting some diamond earrings...
  3. Hands down my biggest challenge on the course as well. "If you think you stink" proves true with me. I intend to give Zen Golf another read and hopefully take some of that to the course as well, although if I do that am I now thinking about thinking? Ha ha
  4. I'm with @tony@CIC, seems like you'd be compromising the training's ability to help you better leverage ground reaction forces. I live in Nebraska so doing the protocols inside in a controlled climate is appealing, but I'm still doing them in the garage with an extra layer on. There are just too many swings like the Step Back and Double Step that I would think would be seriously compromised and maybe even lead to injury potential if you don't have good traction.
  5. If your 50 is more a full shot club, are you not considering a set wedge rather than another Vokey? In my 919's I game the set gap wedge, which is 51, then a 54 and a 58 SM7 that are both bent a degree weak.
  6. Thanks! Unfortunately, no, I don't know that info. Here's a pic of the display at GolfTec, along with a zoomed in version of the data, from my fourth or fifth warm-up PW before the lesson started...I wanted to look back later and see what data is available on the display, because I can't honestly say I'm using it (although I'm pretty confident the instructor is paying attention to it)... Which brings me to another almost embarrassing question for my fellow Spies...can anyone recommend where I can read up on ball flight or fitting for dummies? I'm realizing that given how much time I spend on this forum and some of the brains that are on here, I have no excuse for looking at my PW backspin number (for instance) and not being able to discern on my own if that's good or bad. I suspect it's a bit low, but I'm a bit of a picker and am reasonably confident I got a good fit into my irons. (I have a hunch @cnosilamong others could tell me where to read up on basic understanding of fitting variables...)
  7. I posted about this elsewhere but I had a largely positive experience this past Friday at GolfTec. The photo on the left is a good swing, the right is the old/bad. Basically my arms are too folded up at impact leading to inconsistent contact, and the "good" follow-through on the left is the result of better extension of my arms at impact and better/taller posture. Great lesson as always. First time I've had to wear a mask during the lesson which was a drag, but sign of the times...
  8. Here's the main feedback and area to target that did come out of the lesson: Picture on the left is the good, the right the "bad" and what I need to improve on. I don't have a good screen grab to show the impact position, but the diagnosis is a tendency that I've fought for a while to get into a squat too much and come into impact with my arms a bit folded up rather than extended. Honetly, if there is an aspect of this offseason training that hasn't gotten my full energy it's the PlaneMate work, and I think it would help immensely with this so I'll be reattacking that. I should in turn see a wider overall swing and hopefully some speed as well.
  9. I appreciate the feedback and encouragement, I need it right now. No, have been unable to track speed on a daily or session-by-session basis, but I'm going to explore ways to find some simulator time in the area to at least get monthly info.
  10. Despite the kick to the nads this past Friday, I got back after it today. SuperSpeed Level 3, then my B2 workout: Preacher Curl - 105, reps at 14, 4, 3, 2 Reverse-Grip EZ Curl - 85, reps at 14, 6, 4, 2 Box Jumps - 3 x 6 Seated Calf Raise - 105, 12 reps Lying Leg Curl - 130, reps at 12, 5, 4, 2 Squats - 315 for 8 reps, widowmaker at 225 for 18 reps So I upped the weight on the squat from 275 to 315 and found I should have done that a while ago. Overall, I have to admit my motivation has taken a bit of a hit. @BMart519is probably right and I shouldn't have put too many expectations into getting some numbers from a lesson. The thing I'm really having a hard time getting my head around is why I didn't see the speed gains I was sure I was making, after my on course experience tells me I'm hitting the ball farther than I was before??
  11. Nice. Even if it did, “pandemic” seems like a pretty good reason to extend an expiration date.
  12. Did a SuperSpeed Level 3, then a purely maintenance workout of one working machine set per muscle group given the GolfTec lesson I had later. So, that meant... Machine Chest Press - 180, 12 reps Machine Shoulder Press - 130, 12 reps Machine Dips - 250, 14 Machine Pulldown - 170, 9 reps Wide-Grip Cable Rows - 175, 8 reps I'll follow up with a little more detail on the lesson later, but suffice it to say I'm a bit frustrated and maybe even disillusioned. Swing speed was consistently 104-105 across the 9 driver swings I recorded. That's a 2-3 mph gain but certainly not the "jump" or leap forward I anticipated. Frankly, it's not consistent with my on-course experience either...I tend to roll my eyes as much as anybody else when I hear this, but I really don't know if I swing as well in an indoor bay versus range or on the course. Either way, not the numbers I was hoping to see at all.
  13. I am REALLY interested in this driver...keep the feedback coming. Really love my TR20 but I'm going to have to kick some tires come spring...then wait for the wife to be in a REALLY good mood....
  14. I appreciate that, and I know you’re right, I just would enjoy the affirmation of seeing some gains on the screen. I’ve got a good relationship with the coach...I’m hoping to just go through the lesson, and then take a few more bonus swings to release the kraken at the end.
  15. Guess this is as good a thread as any to park this...MERRY CHRISTMAS Spies! (Forgive me for the white-out...home address on the internet didn't feel smart, even among this highly esteemed group...) On the front are my kids (left to right) Clark, Vivian and Grant. On the back is me, same kids, and my wife Leigh, and (in the picture on the right) are my two daughters Jolie and Taylor who live with their Mom in Tennessee. Oh, and I tend to go nuts with the lights as you can maybe make out via the middle picture, but not totally nuts...I call it Classy Griswold. Hope you all have a great holiday season.
  16. @edingcnailed it. (And so has @RickyBobby_PRIf you had to nail down one enduring principle behind both the PlaneMate and the TourStriker SmartBall from Martin Chuck, it's to use your body to control the clubface rather than your hands and arms. The stand-up of the club like an umbrella doesn't occur until you've already used your body to turn, right back pocket to target, and because of that turn the stand-up of the club shouldn't be a vertical arm lift but more of a continuation of that turn. Or at least that's my understanding of it...I'm no pro nor do I play one on TV...
  17. How about the ol' subjective sound and feel stuff? I want a driver to be communicative as far as how I missed it, yet still forgive the miss! Ha ha I only demo'd a SpeedZone for about 10 shots but I felt like it did that.
  18. Wow. Some people are just real a-holes.
  19. Thank you @StrokerAceand @STUDque. I'm still very much a newb here, especially compared to the seasoned veterans that are heaping the praise on you in this thread, but from my vantage point that praise is very deserved. You've fostered an online environment that somehow feels almost like family, where the members here treat each other with respect and with a genuine desire to help each other out and help each member get better. That's a very rare thing and a heck of an accomplishment in and of itself, on top of all the other accomplishments that have been echoed in this thread. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. I for one am grateful...we're all becoming better golfers through the knowledge-sharing you've enabled. @GolfSpy MPR and @Golfspy_CG2, a HUGE thanks to you as well. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this group.
  20. Solid workout this morning. SuperSpeed ASD 1, then my B1 workout. Barbell Curls - 100, reps at 14, 4, 3, 1 Hammer Curls - 55s, reps at 9, 3, 2, 1 Box Jumps - 3 sets of 6 Leg Press Calves - 200, 12 reps Single-Leg Deadlifts - 50s, 2 sets of 10 Leg Press - 600 for a straight set of 14, 450 for a 20-rep widowmaker I had more in me for the leg movements, but in the interests of being reasonably fresh for my lesson on Friday I elected to not push it too hard. I have to admit being almost apprehensive about that lesson. If everything I'm putting myself through doesn't seem to register in some speed gains it's going to be a real kick to the nads to say the least.
  21. No experience with a white bag, but in addition to some exterior discoloring and getting dirty, I'd also be a bit concerned about a stain from a leak or spill of some kind...sports drink, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Maybe something to consider.
