  1. I have another GolfTec lesson this Friday. I never signed up for a plan, just pay-as-I-go, and the plan is to hit short iron, long iron, and driver, and get his thoughts/prescription on what to focus on over the coming offseason months. (And, I hope to see some swing speed driver when it's time to let the big dawg eat.) I'll post some feedback here Friday.
  2. Yeah, my SS sessions are first thing in the morning, before the gym, around 4:30. And, in my garage in Nebraska. Suffice it to say it's a bit cold, extra layer of clothes, etc.
  3. I'd agree, but I'd also add that the training can still be done and still help you make significant speed gains, it's just that having the unit helps you make the training more efficient. Some have argued that the radar is necessary to stay motivated...seeing the numbers day-to-day brings you back for more. That argument doesn't resonate with me...I have no problem trusting a process and looking for my gains on the course, when they come. (Or, via sporadic use of simulators when I can.) The notion that the radar helps you learn how to swing fast...that I can't argue with. Makes sense. Wish I had one.
  4. Ha ha, very true. I suppose a TM DHY, SM8s, and...a Cobra RADSpeed...are on my list.
  5. Yeah, but you're from Queens, nobody likes anybody else up there... (I grew up upstate near Buffalo...)
  6. Almost embarrassing to admit, but no...all my SuperSpeed training is without a radar or any other type of measuring device. I know that's a bit sophomoric and even a little hard to explain, but it's been more of a financial thing with the boss if you know what I mean. (Many of the club purchases I've made lately have been via a local club pro friend and his discount...no such deals on a radar.) I've heard many say the radar is necessary to stay motivated and see your gains...not a concern for me. The other argument I hear is that it's necessary to learn how to swing fast, and THAT argument (depressingly) resonates with me. It is what it is. I 'm certain I'm going all out every session, but I have to rely on sporadic simulator time that might come my way in the future to measure overall progress. Session specific metrics...don't have them. Sucks.
  7. I'm sure it was Fit for Golf...I've seen him say the same and even shared the same observation via DM with me on Instagram...feels the standard SS protocols are too high-volume.
  8. Never played but VERY interested....will FanTrax give me the basic info on how it works? Anything special MGS does?
  9. And he's sitting on my team, out of the playoffs. Submitted a lineup for S&G's and got 41 from Derrick Henry and 148 with a DEF still to play, as opposed to 15 from him and 72 from the team last week...ya know, the week I need to win to get in. Sigh...
  10. Nice. I usually can too, but if I'm off it's the first club to tell me if you know what I mean.
  11. As in a replacement for the current hybrid, or pulling the 4-iron for a hybrid too? I'm a mess in that part of the bag myself. Had an 18 degree TE CBX 119 in the bag but too big of a gap to 4-iron, picked up a 19 degree and 21 degree TS3 and set the 21 to 22 in lieu of the 4 iron but not sure I'm happy with it. Now I'm eyeing a TM DHY...
  12. Got a very good one in today. SuperSpeed Level 3, then... Dumbbell Inclines - 75s, reps at 12, 2, 1, 1 Arnold Presses - 55s, reps at 11, 4, 1 Cable Pressdowns - 170, reps at 12, 6, 4, 2 Close=Grip Chins - 12, 3, 2 1 Trap-Bar Deadlift - 380, 2 sets of 6 Time to move to 80s on the inclines, and I was happy to get back to 6 solid reps on the deadlift for both sets. I also weighed in a 193.8 this past Sunday...about another half pound gain but overall a slower pace than I'd been on. I'm upping the calorie surplus to 500 for a total calorie count of 3,250 going forward. My copy of "Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing" also showed up yesterday, so I'll be reviewing that, TPI, and Fit for Golf to try and flesh out the next phase of this, which I hope to begin mid-to-late January. I'll post the program and hope for some critical review/feedback from anyone who wants to give it, especially @BMart519and @Chip Strokes. In fact, anything you'd want to offer that I make sure I do...all ears...?
  13. Not to be mean, but cracks me up to see 2 more applicants for the Rapsodo tester application. One replied to the original post, so "Testers Announced" is right there in big bold letters...
  14. Picked up another pair of UA HOVR Match Play shoes... Liked the gray ones so much I picked up another pair in white. Now I need to phase out my Spieth 3's and my FJ Fury's. (I have my eye on some Jordan's...) Nothing wrong with either shoe comfort or stability wise, the Spieth 3's are crazy stable, but if I've learned one thing about my shoe choices for the future, NO FABRIC. I am not okay with the discoloring and staining. (Yeah, I've tried bleach, Oxi-Clean, etc.)
  15. Sounds great. My biggest concern here...losing ground due to winter. Hopefully a PlaneMate and some sporadic simulator time addresses that.
  16. I was stationed at Langley in 2011 but wasn't a golfer then...will you be able to practice in the winter months? Or will some of your practice be in a bay...MGS? (If so, do you feel like you can effectively do the short game work in a bay?)
  17. A bit of a change for today only. I did my regular SuperSpeed Level 3 workout, but then did a light maintenance only workout that's not really worth diving into here. Why? Because next Friday I have a GolfTec lesson...if I stuck to my normal workout I'd be doing legs that morning, about 2 hours before the lesson. I'd be almost guaranteed to be turning poorly and not in a position to get the most I can from the lesson. So, I've basically reset the program and will do a Chest/Shoulders/Tris/Back workout on Monday and Friday next week, legs on Wednesday. Should be in a much better position to have a productive lesson on Friday that way. And, I hope to get driver out and get some numbers!
  18. Posted about this is my "Need for Speed" thread too, but just pulled the trigger on this book...
  19. Just bought this book in the spirit of fleshing out the next phase of workouts I mentioned yesterday...
  20. Man, I'm really digging the look of these clubs and will definitely have to kick the tires on them. I thought the TR20 was going to be safe in my bag for a while, but maybe not... Like @B.Boston, I'm a little disappointed in the lack of adjustability in the hybrids though. I really need an anti-left hybrid, and being able to adjust the loft makes gapping a lot easier. Maybe a Cobra utility iron instead...
  21. Those are either PJs or you're taking after Ian Poulter too much...
  22. After reviewing the season, I realize I started off strong, but then as the season wore on something weird happened and I started losing games. This can only mean one thing...FRAUD! I hereby do not concede any of my losses, and will be suing many of you.
  23. Ha! Think of it as just a quarter of the cost of a driver, and potentially with a lot more benefit.
