  1. correct, and yes it was already answered, but thanks for playing! Also correct on my avatar, could there BE a better avatar for my golf SPY than the most famous spy in the world playing golf?
  2. it's Christmas, have 11, with my compliments
  3. WOW!...........not the shorts but the green, it looks superb, almost artificial. We have hollow tined soft muddy bumpy greens, but I suppose it is December in the North
  4. 40 and no wind is....ok. But if you are in a cart it will feel much colder. Walking briskly and wearing layers keeps most of you warm. an air warmer in your mitt and breathable waterproof socks and you'll enjoy the game from the 3rd onwards with no thought of cold.
  5. erm....points....... how many would you like?
  6. Christmas eve- first game in 3 months and after a bad bout of chronic Bronchitus! Played great, 3 birdies, laser accurate irons (albeit a bit short ) great putting and 'improving' driver, which was either long and straight or push fade. Biggest issue was chipping (again) thinned a few thru the green from 15 yds and only fatted 2. If ONLY I could chip "I could've been a contender, I could've been somebody......" (points for the person who knows the movie) Hoping to play again before new year as the forecast is 46*, so if its dry and no wind I'll play. Struggled with stamina after the illness but this year I will get fitter and stop all the rubbish I put in my body. My Body used to be a warehouse! now it will be transitioning to a lean production facility...........
  7. Thanks. Intensive Anti B's prescribed as it developed into more than flu. Feeling much better now thanks, except weak as a kitten for awhile. Hoping to try and have a few holes on Christmas eve to remember what its like to follow a wee white ball around a muddy field in the cold
  8. flu starts here around Sept/Oct, gets worse in Dec/Jan- I've already been bed ridden for 2 weeks followed by 4 weeks recovery (takes longer when you are 87 yrs old, (just felt 87)........lol)
  9. in a non comp round, just put a thin elastic band on the grip an inch down the shaft- result
  10. you need to define that? It can oscillate in its own spot with no penalty I believe, but actually moving (out of its own spot) once you have addressed it is deemed that you caused the ball to move and incurs a penalty.
  11. Grew up with the original series and loved it. Netflix re-did the series last year and it was very good, imo. series 2 due out on Netflix next Tuesday, Christmas Eve. Looking forward to binge watching. P.S I see there is a sequel to 'A Quiet Place' due out soon. I thought the ending of the first movie was great and just screamed out (not if you were in the movie) for a follow up.
  12. Wasn't sure about the Joker based on the trailers, but once watched it was exceptional. On the flip side The Irishman had me counting down the days till release, a Scorsese movie with a mouthwatering cast of proven gangster actors, whats not to like? Well in my case, everything! Slow story, long long movie (tried twice and couldnt finish it), de-aging cgi def detracted from many scenes as they didn't look 'quite right', however it was a very good effort, apart from seeing De Nero giving a poor shopkeeper a kicking while looking exactly like you would expect a 76 year old to kick while fearing a fall! Interested in other peoples views, good or bad? Maybe I just expected to much.
  13. 5 shops today and not one sells white shoe polish- tons of black and tan plus suede but no white!!
  14. just popped back in to this thread to say I havent played or hit a ball for over 2 months! Man I miss it! Bl**dy weather (and some illness)
  15. Thank you. I like the idea of saddle soap to deep clean first, then white solid polish applied by hand and cloth, not a fan of the liquid polishes, never seems to work as well on black shoes. As an aside I used to find it therapeutic to clean my shoes many years ago so quite looking forward to doing it properly. Any other tips from a military man most appreciated.
  16. Thanks, good advice for keeping them clean. Issue is with all the mud and dirt the last few months, it's ingrained. Short of buying new ones (which I have already done for the new season) I'd like to get these leather mofo's looking respectable again
  17. After months of mud and dirt the white FJ shoes look a state- even after wiping after each round- the mud and dirt gets ingrained and they look tatty for $150 shoes. So, who has tried and tested guaranteed way to get them looking much better than they are?
  18. US are always strong in the singles for this and the RC. Fourball and foursomes they are pretty poor at but it's not something you can (or they want to) practice at anytime.
  19. some of the most friendly, welcoming and genuinely empathic people I know are in the mixed martial arts community. They talk gently and ooze confidence but not arrogance. They can also handle themselves extremely well if a situation spirals the wrong way.
  20. low score trumps all holes in one- I've seen 24 h/cappers get a hole in one. I've seen beginners get a hole in one. I've not seen many golfers shoot in the 60's scratch.
  21. Follow your dreams and your heart- you won't make the wrong decision.
