  1. Agreed. But I think I’m coming to the conclusion that I only like the copper/gold coloring on wedges and blades. Something about the cavity back design is not looking right to me in the copper. but those do look different than the Rickie blades or forged tecs
  2. Well that’s creepy as hell at 1 in the morning. I would have never thought that sound would come out of a fox.
  3. Was going to make a separate thread, but I don’t think my fitting really needs it. I had my fitting at PGASS and while the “fit” aspect of it was nothing to write home about, I was at least able to try several of the new heads with the same shaft as I am using in my Speedzone, the Ventus Blue 6X. If it hadn’t been free with a promotion from the opening I would have been unhappy with it. I wish I had been a little more demanding in the fit, as I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if the Ventus was a good fit and he didn’t seem to enthused to try out much else. It was more of a “looks good” than anything else. Perhaps that’s because of this: As you see, the Speedzone is very comfortably in the optimal range here. So I knew there was not going to be a lot of room for improvement. Two notes: 1. Spin - My spin is going to look high here, the tee was as high as it would go and I was still getting middle or below strikes. We switched to the left dash Pro V1x to combat this, but from my outside ball flight I would not suggest that I am too spinny on the course. 2. Swing speed. Usual story of not that comfortable in that particular bay, but I did get to the 105 range. I think that is probably a fair speed (Trackman vs Swing Speed Radar likely leaning too favorable). I tried a whole bunch of heads after warming up with mine Radspeed - felt almost exactly like my speedzone, took 4 swings and knew it wouldn’t be worth an upgrade on its own. PING G425 LST - I wanted to like this as I have fond memories of my G30. Couldn’t hit this guy. It was the shortest of the bunch for me, and no more accurate than the next. TSi2 - Looked and sounded nice, but I was all over the place with it. With the spin we were seeing I was surprised he didn’t pull the TSi3, but that’s what was put into my hands. SIM2 Max - 3rd place for me. I could game it, maybe some potential as it felt very LIGHT compared to the rest. I like the TM look too since M5 with matte crown. Epic Max LS - can it unseat my Speedzone? No surprise this was the one I was most interested in hitting. I love the sound and feel of this head. It was good to be able to go with the Ventus in it since I didn’t love the iM10 or MMT stock offerings in the standard bays…. So, how’d it do vs the Speedzone? Carry: Super consistent. It is 7 vs 14 shots, but this was 7 shots and my std dev on carry and total was less than 6 yards and my spin was more controlled. So the Epic Max LS is a shoe in right? Not so fast! Let’s take a look at the Total and Carry for the 7 Epic shots vs the 14 Speedzone shots (warm up was removed) So basically, not significantly different than the Speedzone. Give me 20 shots with each and they’ll probably be the same. At this stage I’ll probably keep rolling with the Speedzone and keep an eye out for a super deal on the Epic max LS. I wish my fitting had looked at strike and grouping a little more, and I should have pushed to try a few other shafts too. I may still get my hands on one or two shafts to try out, but it looks like I’m looking for gains in consistency and not distance at this time. …But I still WANT the Epic Max LS. What do you guys think? Waste of time and energy? Or should the inner Ho in me win out because I was more consistent with it (only 7 swings be damned).
  4. looks like you and @edingc are going to have to have a long drive challenge soon!
  5. Welcome to the forums! I haven't played much in VT but my friend's brother works or used to work at Green Mountain National which I hear is fantastic.
  6. Sweet! Are there different packages to choose from software wise or is it all included? There’s courses to play with this one right?
  7. Get on that TB12 diet. Or Roger Clemens had a solution too. Na man, as many have said short game should be fine, if not get better. Keep up with some speed training and flexibility and I bet you’ll still bomb them past me in 20 years.
  8. I got it in Navy last year and it almost instantly became my go-to hat. They're very comfortable. Hmmmm if there's a good challenge a competitor I might just have to make a public side-bet that involves you wearing a Bruins shirt if I win... haha
  9. They're going for $19ish on Amazon... or well they were. Looks like they're $25ish now. But since its Amazon that could be different in like... 5 seconds.
  10. I THINK so. They’re the 110 fit. I feel like the P hats wear taller on me. But that might just be the visual of the P vs the width of the Crown logo. Also new hats aren’t broken in so even this one looks taller.
  11. When your favorite Cobra hat is on sale in a different color… you buy it.
  12. Great progress and no wonder you're shooting so well this Spring! I have a habit of not turning as much once I'm on the course. I blame it on being right eye dominant and golfing righty, but its more likely that I feel the need to dial it back. You're making me think taking a lesson or two would be worthwhile! haha
  13. Just had a fitting at the PGASS... while I was a little disappointed by the "fitting" aspect of it, at least it was free with a promo code, and I got to try a lot of different heads against my gamer. I was hoping to see if there were other shaft options better for me, but I was pretty much within the trackman optimized window with the Speedzone... but the Callaway Epic Max LS was right with it and felt better. I'll post some of the results soon... but the Epic Max LS is still on my mind!
  14. Thanks! Hoping I can keep that feeling out on the course. I tend to play much better when I'm on the smoother end of aggressive. I'll be trying to use that tempo and level of effort on my closer approach shots. It's smooth, but I have enough effort and speed that I feel like I stay in sync.
  15. Hey, Welcome to the forums! I'm not familiar with those sensors, but the bigger part of the equation is the software that they run on. Companies like Arccos and Shot Scope continue to innovate and add new things to the software which really increased the value of the sensors. With Arccos having a lot of OEM integrations now I feel comfortable that they will continue to develop the software which will make it even better in the future. From the amazon reviews of the Golf Pad Tags I wouldn't be expecting much in support with the software if it wasn't working well, or draining your battery quickly. Of course this is just my opinion. For $99 and with amazon's return policy's it might be worth a try to see if it gives you what you're looking for in shot tracking.
  16. Had a good range day yesterday. Took the planemate with me and did some warmup before hitting. I tried to hit some balls with it on but I need A LOT more work in that area. I might have to go back to the short band and just do pitching motions. Took the planemate off and started to have some fun including this cross-range pitch to the trampoline. It's about 80 yards from there and I used my GW as the PW was carrying just over the top. It's a fun target to hit to and a bonus when you bounce it off! Then I progressed through the bag and ended up hitting some really good drives including this one which carried to the tree along the fence at the end of the range (about 260). Since making some adjustments to my grip and changing the settings on the driver it's flown considerably straighter and I am not seeing nearly as much left to right. It's starting to scare me a little. Lastly I worked on hitting some shots to the 100 yard marker with my GW to really work on a smooth feel. I was very impressed with this series of shots as they flew exactly where I wanted, and I even got a nice draw on the last one. I feel like I'm starting to round into mid-season form, now I just need to get out and play some more this year.
  17. When I had my free fitting at True Spec I was fit into that 54F grind as well, but they said 58D for me... I guess I dig a little. I loved the way the F grind and high bounce got through the turf and moved my strike point lower. Just gave me tons of spin and control. I feel the same way when I hit the MIM Black 52* with the 12* bounce Classic Grind. Visually I think it's narrower than the Vokey, but more rounded and seems to perform the same for me. Then my 56* Versatile grind can really be opened up and used anywhere. I think those two would be a really good comp to what you have in the bag now.
  18. And tag @xOldBenKenobiX on Instagram for an additional bonus entry.
  19. Ah man Rob. I only know you as ”CG2” what was your non-MGS handle?! I don’t think we can say thank you enough for everything you contributed as a moderator and admin for this site. From regular posts, private messages, and testing threads you’ve been nothing but great to talk to and work with. As sad as it is to lose you there it sounds like you’re getting a great opportunity at work and I’m glad to hear you won’t be leaving us. Thank you Rob for everything you’ve done for MGS. Looking forward to your future unofficial posts and continued conversations!
  20. The news of a new Ping wedges got my attention. As you said, not because I'm thinking about switching, but when they do wear out PINGs.... spinsistency... is something I'd be interested in if it's included in a more traditional profile like the MIMs. With some of the dewy morning rounds any extra spin on wet shots would be welcomed. I'll find out tomorrow if the Speedzone is still King in my bag or if there is a mutiny brewing. Changing to the +1.5* and flipping the heavy weight up front has done some really good things at the range. Just need to get out and play a round to see if it's real.
  21. Cody, you are the hero we need. Please do a shootout! I've been asking for an adjustable Cobra hybrid.... but I want the rails! haha This does look like a great driving club alternative though. If I wasn't so comfortable with my 5 wood I'd give one of those 2H a go.
  22. you know you should just try golfing right-handed. I'm a natural lefty but I golf and play swinging righty to better conform with societal norms.
  23. I saw this as well! It's already up on Cobra's site - $279 stock price https://www.cobragolf.com/king-tec-hybrid "The KING TEC Hybrid features advanced technologies to create a hybrid that fits within the better player category. PWRSHELL Technology, a lightweight carbon crown and an adjustable weighting system delivers high launch and powerful ball speed. AVAILABILITY: PRE-ORDER NOW, AVAILABLE JUNE 18TH" But.... they're missing the rails that I love. I'll still give one a swing though. EDIT: Could this be a SuperHybrid competitor? Lots of talk about distance on the website.
  24. UGH, wish I had the room in the house to take this off your hands! GLWS, someone's gotta be itching for one of these.
  25. I have the classic grind on the 52* MIM Black... its awesome. It works great for me on full and partial swings (I tend to be too steep if my swing is off_ and its surprisingly versatile around the green. You're going to like it a lot I think!
