  1. I still have them! It was just a fluke opportunity where I was able to snag the mizzys at a great price due to a friend looking to offload them. Overall, I still like the Cobra irons, they are solid clubs. I did miss having a thinner topline and sole, espeically in the scoring irons, however. The MMCs have been beautiful in that regard. I plan to throw together a second full set with the Cobras so I can continue to have fun and tinker around with the different toys.
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm fairly new to MyGolfSpy and looking forward to chatting with others that are passionate about the game. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing for 20 years. I picked up the game at 14 when my family moved to Saginaw, MI and the new friends I made all seemed to love golf (I had never played), and I figured if I was going to fit in with the group, I better start playing. What do you love about golf? I love everything about it; however, the things I appreciate most of all are the endless challenge and pursuit of improvement, and the opportunity to spend a few hours with my closest friends joking, having fun, and sharing a beverage or two as we all play the game we love. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I came to MyGolfSpy for an opportunity to converse with others who share a passion for golf and golf equipment and to hopefully learn some new things while having fun. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am originally from Kalamazoo, MI and while I don't really have a home course, I would say that Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, IN has been the closest thing to it the past several years as I have been living in Indiana. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf in the midwest is its relative affordability compared to some other areas of the country, and speaking about Michigan in particular, the sheer number of courses that are available is outstanding. If you have not experienced golf in northern Michigan, you are missing out! The worst thing about golf in my region is that the season is just too damn short. What do you do for a living? I am currently law student, and will be practicing in Chicago next year when I graduate. How’d you pick your user name I'm lame and just combined parts of my name.
  3. I would love the "Broke 80" tag. To date, it is my biggest accomplishment in the game. Thanks!
  4. In the past I struggled to hit the 3Ws I had off the deck but still used them off the tee on shorter par 4s. Now I have a 3W that I love and I use it off the tee and also on many par 5s. It's not going anywhere.
  5. Irons update . . . . A Mizuno MP-20 HMB/MMC combo set has found its way into my bag, and I have a feeling they won't be leaving anytime soon. Pic below.
  6. Thing of beauty! I am waiting on a combo set of HMB/MMC myself . . . can't wait to get out on the course. Enjoy!
  7. Nice! Need some pics! How do you like the G410? I have never really tested out PING woods but all of the great things I hear about the 410 are leading me toward wanting to try it out.
  8. Great looking set! Which shaft do you have in the SIM? I am very interested in picking up a SIM this year provided it gives me just enough forgiveness as I think the launch/spin characteristics it seems to be generating for many people could help me squeeze more performance out of my swing. Have you found the mishits on it to be relatively playable?
  9. Clean looking set. I love the three wedges all in different finishes.
  10. Does anyone have experience changing an adapter on a shaft to put the shaft into a different driver? I want to remove a Titleist adapter and replace with a TM sleeve but I am unsure if I will run into a situation where the shaft looks awful cosmetically at the tip because the two adapters are not the same size. Thanks for the insight any of you are able to provide. Cheers!
  11. Welcome, and nice set! How does that 818 H1 treat you? I may look into snagging one of those this year as a replacement for my 915H as the 818s are at a very nice price point now.
  12. The Mizuno hybrids are very nice looking. How is the feel and ball flight? I think i read that in their standard setup, they are set a bit open to counteract the tendency to hit overdraw hybrids but I can't remember for sure.
  13. It probably isn't super clear in the pictures, but I actually don't have a 5W at all. I go Driver, 3W, 2 hybrid, and then 4 iron on down to wedges. I did test some 5Ws back when I bought my hybrid but I was able to hit the hybrid about the same yardage as the 5W for gapping purposes and decided to go with it instead as I thought it would be a more versatile club to hit out of some dicey lies and what not. I keep testing newer woods and hybrids each year as my hybrid is getting a bit older but so far nothing has been able to stake a claim for the bag. How do you like the SIM driver?
  14. The TS2 woods are great. Phenomenal sound/feel. Probably my favorite set of woods that I have ever owned or at least since my younger days when I had the Titleist 975D and 975F. The TS2 3W is the first fairway wood I have had a lot of confidence with off the deck in years. I also use it off the tee on many shorter par 4s to give myself better yardages into greens. The only issue with the TS2 driver for me is that I feel I may be sacrificing a little distance due to my swing producing very high ball flights in general (I'm more of a sweeper) coupled with a bit too high of spin. That being said, the TS2 is incredibly forgiving and I have so much confidence that I can really go after swings when needed. I plan to test the TS3 this season (if we get one that is . . .) just to see if I can get my launch and spin rates in a bit better window to gain some additional yards. If not, or if those yards come at a drastic loss of accuracy, I will not be changing from the TS2.
  15. Currently game the TS2 and love it; however, I am intrigued to try the SIM as well because I could benefit from decreasing spin to gain some yards. As I have always seemed to gravitate toward Titleist woods, I may just transfer over to a TS3 to get the performance I'm looking for, especially considering the price difference. If you test the SIM, let us know how it works for you!
  16. Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated! Cannot wait for the lockdown days to be behind us so I can get back on the course and test some different ones out!
  17. I have always had either DG S300 or S400 in my wedges so just curious if others that either currently play C-Taper or have in the past have used different wedge shafts. Thanks, everyone!
  18. A fellow KBS C-Taper gamer! Welcome! Nice setup.
