In this order I will play

    St Andrew - new course

    St. Andrews - old course

    Kingsbarn

    Nairn golf club

    Carnoustie

    Western Gailes

    Royal Troon

Besides golf what else should I do over there for the people who have gone. Any hidden gems?

“Sometimes the biggest problem is in your head. You've Got to believe.â€

    Jack Nicklaus

    Royal Aberdeen (Aberdeen City)

    Brora (Aberdeen(ish))

    North Berwick (Edinburgh(ish))

    Scotscraig (Fife)

    Elie (Fife)

    Lundin Links (Fife)

    Letham Grange (Angus)

Craighead @ Crail (Its wayyyy better than Balcomie...)(Fife)

    Panmure (Angus)

    The Rosemount @ Blairgowrie (Angus)

Btw... You are probably going to play the Centenary course @ Gleneagles (which was ryder cup course).... The Kings & The Queens courses are better!... Just saying.

There is a whole heap more brother but they were the ones that are most prominent in my wee head.

    Kind Regards

    Jerry,

Is it feasible to get from Edingurgh and play Carnoustie, Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, Trump International, Castle Stuart, and Royal Dornoch without renting a car?  I notice that the Scottish rail/bus system goes to locations that are very near the course.  I'm just not sure whether taking clubs/luggage on the bus/trains is a huge pain in the bum.  Your thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Pat

Pat this will help... I live in st andrews... and use this website for getting around men's opens in scotland

    hope this helps

I see the spider in the background, what led you to chose the STX over that?

Hi Connor, I own quite a few putters (not really something to brag about but its true)- The Spider is 45 degree toe-hang-weighted. So you have to setup slightly different to the STX Sync Tour which is completely face balanced... I am straight-straight putter, minimal arc... So with that setup face balanced everything should be even weight, ball centre, no shaft lean.

With the Spider 45 degree toe hang, setup with more weight left side ball roughly same position but shaft lean, thus lowering left shoulder.

Its a comfort think but I have Cleveland SmartSquare putter face-balanced but heavy weighted- for windy days for stability. STX for calmer days, fast greens.

Toe hang putters take out on course when want to putt aggressive. - Sorry long-winded explanation hahahaha take care brother

All I have to say is you live in a great place! Me an my wife along with two other couples went to St. Andrews in 2009. It was the greatest golf trip ever, the ladies absolutely loved the trip too!

We plan on coming back and staying for a couple of weeks, just driving from golf course to golf course. Beautiful country and great people!

    Good luck with the golf.

Aww I know I am extremely fortunate, just wish i better play.. all in time.. Which course/place do you play out of yourself?

My older brother is caddie master @ The Old Collier, Naples Florida.

I tend to see the lower trajectory with the avx and that's all I play either the pro v1 or the avx. One big difference I see with the pro v1 is around the greens, they are not as good as the avx. Another difference I see between the two is the feeling at impact on the club, the avx jumps off the face and pro v1 is a little clicky. Another reason I sing the praises of the avx whenever I can. It is a great ball from start to finish.

100% I agree with you brother!!!!

  6. Before the COVID-lockdown I had not long moved to the Titleist AVX ball in the cold winter months through in St Andrews, Scotland. Having been an avid Titleist ProV1X guy before I did not believe there would be much change but how wrong could I be...I believe there is quite a big difference when comes to performance in relation to temperature and wind factors. The AVX is a different performance breed in cold blustery conditions, better control, trajectory and my eyes better reactions within the firm conditions of links golf.

  7. Alright Boys & Girls.. my name is Brett Murray, Scottish amateur player from the sunny shores of St Andrews, Scotland (The Home of Golf)....Ok so I know my handicap doesn't look great on paper to be gaming these badboys but I went up from 2 to 4 after some serious golf swing changes, then COVID hit resulting in course closures so that's my excuses out the way... Here is what I am gaming
