Played Salishan in Lincoln City over the weekend with my father-in-law. Played pretty well (except for my driver) and shot an 84 from the back tees, leading to a new Low HI of 12.0.
Played the Pro for the front 9, and the Max for the back 9. Max feels a bit looser, and less breathable, but don't know that there was a big difference in how they played. Probably helped that the clouds and fog rolled in for the back 9, so the lack of breathability wasn't an issue.

Have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the black and white blocking on the Max glove when I first unboxed it, but it looks pretty good in play. Also, didn't realize I had the Cantlay RBF when I'm lining up a shot until I saw this picture that my father-in-law took (but I did hit the pin on this shot from 109 yards, so I guess the comparison is pretty apt 😉).

Got out yesterday thinking the weather was going to be fine ... worst case just a little sprinkle for a little while .....NOPE
Rain came and poured on me for about 25 minutes and then left the course pretty soft

So I got to get some actual on coarse work done with wet gloves!
Played with the max for the first 8 holes (rain started at the end of 5) and had the Pro White glove tucked away in a dry place
Tee shot on 6 and the glove was already soaked .... used driver and I was legitimately surprised that the club did not fly through my hand while take a full swing in the rain. The silicon when wet provides nearly zero resistance and I could feel myself gripping the club firmer than usual. 2nd shot I took more club and hit is softer. That feeling was more comfortable than taking any full swing with the wet gloves.
By the 8th hole, the rain was done, but I was soaked and as was the max.
9th hole ... swapped to the Pro White which stayed fairly dry. The silicone grips still had its tackiness to them and even with a wet hand going into the glove, the grip held up.
Even after a few swings with my wet hands and wet/damp grips on the clubs, the Pro was able to stay dry enough to be effective and remained that way through the rest of the round
I'll say I was careful on where I put the glove to ensure it would stay dry ... never went into my pocket, always stayed on top and tried to get it as much sun exposure as possible.
I was hoping the Max would have dried out by the end of the round, but it stayed cloudy for the remainder of the round and never got a chance to dry out
    ===================
Overall ... if you can keep these gloves dry, I feel it's pretty manageable even if your hands and club grips are wet. That might mean having an extra glove on hand and/or extra towels to try and dry things often.
    ....
or having a weather rated glove on hand when the situation calls for it
Note that neither glove is advertised as a weather glove

Can't say that I've notice it happen, but I don't put my glove on particularly quickly so it could be something that I fix unconsciously.

Today!!! Had a couple of appointments today. Second one got canceled, so the wife said lets go golfing. Wasn't really feeling it but figured what the hell. Really wasn't feeling after a triple bogey on the 1st. I righted the ship and got going in the right direction. Get to the 16th hole, which tends to kick my butt. It plays, today, 143 yards into a slight breeze. Pin is sitting on the right side of the green. Aim for the middle of the green. Play a slight draw that's heading toward the flag. Comes down close. I bend down and grab my tee and when I look up I can't see the ball. My wife says "I lost it, how'd it go?" I said "I think it went in". She about snapped her neck when she responded "WHAT". Sure enough, when we get to the cup the ball is sitting in the bottom of the cup. Picked up my first club in 1978, and this is my first hole in one. Hope I don't have to wait that long for my next one.

Yesterday was playing with a friend who skulled a 120 yard downhill approach shot.  Never went more than three feet in the air, got to the green going crazy fast, hit the flag dead square and dropped for his first ever eagle.  Made me buy the beer after the round.

Tee shot on the 16th at Salishan over the weekend went right and into the hazard. Took a drop, hit my 3rd shot from the rough, and nearly holed it! It rolled up, hit the pin, but didn't fall. A nice tap-in par.

Following up on my "rain" testing
Since I can't really expect to play golf in the rain here in San Antonio (although we are getting rain all week so I might actually get a round in some wet weather), I had to get a little creative with some back yard testing with the help of my 6 year old daughter .....

I don't think she quite understood the message of "make it seem like it's raining" as she decided to go full monsoon mode with me. But I did tell her to get me wet and that is what she did. Also I'm not sure how she got the water balloons out, but that was an added suprise element .... hitting shots off the divot board with water balloons coming at my face .... some of the divots
Overall a very fun and silly way to spend an afternoon with family.... now on to the findings.
    Water Testing Test Plan
Hit foam balls off a divot board in the back yard while my kid sprays me with water. Glove and grips will be soaked. Will have 50 swings with each glove with a 7iron. Shots will replicate the following: Stock shots, punch outs, lower flighted shots suited to poor weather, and the "give it all I have" shots. Divot results will be noted. Finally, will see how long they take to dry and note the post "rain" condition.
    Results
Once submerged, all 3 gloves immediately lose the grippiness feeling. The silicone ribbing has nearly zero friction and now resembles the feel of a leather glove.
When hitting balls, I could tell I was adding additional grip strength compared to what I typically use in normal weather
I feel there was a bit of a mental fear that the club would slip out of my hand. I historically don't play a lot of wet weather rounds so I can't not really say if this is a new fear. No club ever slipped out with any of the gloves.
Once I got some "clean" swings without water balloons coming at me, I don't think I could tell a huge loss in grip on the club itself. Again, this may be due to the added grip strength to counter the fear of having the club slip away.
Overall feel started to be like a wet leather glove.
Divot results were pretty varied.... If I only consider the swings where there wasn't a monsoon or water balloons in my face, it was pretty decent.
Stock shots were within a decent tolerance of what I would expect from a 7 iron Punch outs were pretty consistent with low point location Lower flighted shots suited to poor weather had a good set out comes ..... although these were done during the "monsoon" portions of testing The "give it all I have" shots had the widest variation in divot results. Low point varied between fats and thins. Generally kept in near the center of the face Once testing finished, I let the gloves sit outside to dry and all 3 were completely dry within 30 minutes. It was as if they had been though a wash as dirt/wear marks were cleaned off. Once dry, they felt like new gloves again, straight from the package.
    Conclusions
Loads of fun to get my family involved in some of the testing and my kid had a blast.
It might just be a mental block, and I know the wetness got to an extreme level, but if you know rain is coming. I would do my best to keep these as dry as possible.
    ========
I am hoping to play Thursday and it might be a wet round .... will be sure to report back regardless.

Following up on the recent outings.....
    9 holes with the Max
I spent this round walking and carrying my bag since I didn't want to pay the cart fee while the course was cart path only after some morning rain. The max already has a tendency to feel warmer and make my hand a bit sweatier. This was true for this round, even for just 9 holes. While I still have some small issues putting on the glove (super minor, but consistent), the glove still feels fine for a tighter fitting glove. It wasn't a great scoring round and played tees further back, but glove performed fined and is holding up fine to date.

18 holes split between the Pro White and Pro Grey
Got to head to a fun course (Hyatt Hill Country Resort with 3 9-hole courses on property). The place was in fantastic shape and the place really emphasizes finding the fairway off the tee as missing likely yields a penalty or just a punch out sideways. (Rough isn't the absolute worst, but thick walls of trees line every hole
As much fun as the day was, the scoring was forgettable (a 94...no PR that day). My swing struggled off the tee and iron play was solid, but not nearly good enough to make up the ground. Oh well. Temperatures were a lovely low 90s to start the round and finished in the upper 90s with the heat index reaching triple digits.
First 9 with Pro Gray and Back 9 with the Pro White
Both gloves behaved as I come to expect at this point in the testing. Good and comfortable fit with a strong grip. Ventilation is still superior to the Max model.
I did finally get my self into a couple bunkers during the round and I enjoy the feel of the extra grip when I know I need extra speed on a shot.
Issues I had were directly tied to the user (i.e. it was on me, not my equipment).

I made an albatross yesterday on the par 5 8th hole at my club. The hole is a dogleg right and I pulled my drive left into the fairway on another hole. I was left with about 260 yards uphill to the middle of the green. I hit my 3 wood about 250 yards and it bounced just short of the green and rolled right in for an albatross. It was an incredible moment to share with my friend and the other members at my club that saw the shot.

My tests show this is not a wet weather glove. I keep a wet towel to wipe the dried dirt off of my ball on the green. It is so hot that when the ball gets dirt on it from landing in the fairway that is damp, by the time the ball is on the green the dirt has turned into a two part epoxy that has fully dried. So my  wet towel breaks down the dirt. Anyway if my glove gets more than just a brushing of this wet towel it becomes very slick and it is very difficult to grip the club securely.
    But....
Sweat from the inside of the glove like a standard leather glove is  a non-issue. It simply does not soak through into the palms of the gloves I have been testing.
Salt crusting of the index finger inside seam is becoming an issue. This is okay, I am purposely NOT washing out the glove. Currently the Max is at 8 rounds with extreme heat and sweating the Pro White is at 7. I use nexcare absolute waterproof tape to wrap my finger before playing and the glove stretches and returns to normal shape when accommodating that tape wrap. It is supposed to be above 105 all week and I will play or practice every day. We shall see how the glove is after 10+ rounds in this kind of heat.
I know a Kirkland glove would fail after ten no wash or rinse out rounds. It would simply stiffen and tear out along the sweat dried creases in the leather.  (ah the voice of experience here. )

Haven’t tested that specifically, but I wiped my sweaty forehead with the palm of the glove during my last range session (and then tried to wipe the glove dry on my pants leg) and had trouble gripping the club even on 50-yard pitch shots.

Powered through a sweaty range session this afternoon. First, a few pics of the gloves:
    Max after 27 holes:

    Pro after 36 holes:

Grime is starting to build up on the suede on the palms, but the silicone still looks new. (What looks like wear on the silicone is just reflections of the trees above me)

I was switching back and forth between the two gloves every 5 shots, and the Max was noticeably warmer. Every time I pulled it off my hand would be sweaty, and the Pro was ventilated enough that my hand would actually dry out during the 5 shots I would take with it on.

I wanted to test the grip if the gloves got very sweaty, so I wiped my face with the palm of the Max, and then wiped it off on my pants (to try and mimic what I might do on the course of the you’ve got wet). The grip was significantly impacted, to the point where I could feel the club spinning in my hands before contact with the ball, even on partial wedge shots. To be fair, my face was very sweaty (see pic below), but the glove did not handle moisture on the silicone at all.

I’ll be playing a round Friday afternoon, so I’ll do 9 holes with each glove to see how they compare head-to-head in on-course conditions. After this range session though my preference is strongly for the Pro.

Grant AFG's Review of the Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club Set from All Kids Golf

Hi everyone! I'm Grant, and I'm really really excited to be getting a new set of golf clubs to test from All Kids Golf!  I'm 10 years old, turning 11 in October, and I'm 58" tall. That puts me into the Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club 7-club set for kids 57-60" tall. I can't wait for them to arrive!

My Dad really really likes golf, so he's been taking me out on the course for 9 holes since I was 4. At first I would just hit a few shots and was mostly along for the cart ride and snacks, but now I'll play a full 9, sometimes more, and I'm even playing from the forward tees now! My Dad has had me (and my little brother and sister) in US Kids Golf clubs for years now, but I've outgrown my current set. Guess now they'll go to my little brother!

As far as my golf ability, I really only play for about 2 months every year.  My Dad likes to brag that I'm a really good athlete; he even jokes to his grown-up friends that he's not convinced he's actually my father, because I'm such a better natural athlete than he is! 🤣  Anyway, the point is, I play a lot of baseball every year and I'm a really good hitter. But, that means my Dad typically won't let me play much golf during baseball season because he's worried it will mess with my baseball swing.

Baseball season is over though, and while I'm about to start football season, there are a lot of twilight 9's in my future over the next couple of months!  Let's go let's go!

    Unboxing & First Impressions
Sorry that unboxing video my Dad took wasn't that great.  Next time he'll probably just stick with pictures.  The set came pretty much exactly as you see in the photos, except the irons and putter had a cloth sleeve tied over each one that I couldn't get off!  It made for a bad video, and my Dad had to get the scissors to help me...they were tied on there tight!  I guess that's a good thing to protect them while they're being shipped though.
Anyway, I love my new clubs!  Dad's taking me out for 9 holes tomorrow afternoon and I'm so excited to put these in play! All Kids has sent me a driver, 5 wood, hybrid, 7 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge, and putter.  (I'm already wearing my Dad out on buying some more clubs to fill out the set.)

I'm really really REALLY excited about the driver.  Last two sets of US Kids Golf sets had a 19 degree wood in it, but this is a real no-kidding driver!  I actually told my Dad "wow, this is HUGE" when I took the head cover off.  I hope I can hit it well tomorrow.

As for the irons and putter, they look so sleek and shiny!  Here's the 7 iron.  (Like I said, I'm already trying to get my Dad to fill this set out with the rest of the irons.)

And here's the bag.  When my Dad takes me golfing we always get a cart, so I'm not sure I'll end up having much to say about the comfort of carrying my clubs in this bag or not.  I feel a little bad for saything this, but I did comment to my Dad that the bag feels a little thin, I guess?  Like the material itself seems a little thinner or maybe not as sturdy as my last US Kids set.

I'll let you know how they work out on the course, TOMORROW!!!!

After 7 rounds each in extreme heat I offer up these pictures. First the Claw Pro new out of the box then the after.

You can clearly see the glove is collecting some dust from being damp via sweaty hands and the fact we had a dust storm roll through Sunday night.  But it is still supple and very comfortable to wear.

The Max, via the black mesh shows no real sign of wear other than the shape of my hand imprinted on the glove itself. Again the glove is supple and shows no signs of the faux suede being saturated with salt and getting stiff and crunchy.

For the heat, these are superior gloves.

Sorry for the delay, I have had a lot of personal stuff going on but the testing continues.
Since my last post on the gloves, I have had the opportunity to play more rounds and hit the range with the gloves. I am still really enjoying the gloves they are super comfortable on my hand and i could wear them all round not having to take them off like I do with other gloves.
It's been a hot one here in western PA and my hands get super sweaty inmost gloves with the claw pro and the claw max they have great ventilation, so my hand doesn't feel like i dunked it in a pool. I have noticed at times the grip has been getting a little loose from water or sweat but nothing too bad yet. The club isn't going to fly out of your hands but definitely can tell something isn't right.
I have put the gloves through a ringer and the glove is holding up. I have played many rounds and range sessions with them, and the durability is holding up no tears or rips on the gloves like would normally happen by now with a Callaway or FootJoy glove. I am impressed with that aspect.
I am still comfortable having an iron or driver in my hand not worried about losing my grip and causing a bad shot that is just my skill level lol. Like I mentioned previously I am a feel golfer when it comes to shots with my wedges, I still feel like the club is getting stuck in my hands on wedge shots and can't move the ball to where I want it to go

Finally was  able to escape the sickness in the household during daylight hours and get out to the course. Been a lot of range time and backyard swings on a divot board. Weather was a nice cloudy day with temps only in the high 80s. some humidity but nothing crazy.
Played with the White Pro glove. Comfort and feel are great. Glove hand felt fine and never extra warm. Never got sweaty as the Pro models constantly prove that there is more ventilation compared to the Max.
Performance off the tee was poor today. Some bad strikes all around and just when I thought I was going to go 3 straight rounds without losing a ball, I top my driver on 18 right into the creek in front of the tee. Driver was fine (excluding 18th hole). Despite the result on 18, my driver was otherwise well struck, but this course takes away driver from the tee a lot and I just didn't execute.
Approach play made up for it today, included over performing from 150+ yrds.
