Testers Wanted: Sub 70 Putters

Just because the seasons are changing doesn’t mean there isn’t still ample time to test and review golf clubs.

In MyGolfSpy Most Wanted Testing Sub 70 has performed well year over year and claimed third overall in 2023 Most Wanted Blade with the Sycamore 005 Wide Blade.  Bolstering an impressive lineup of 16 putters they have an option that will surely appeal to any golfer.

Sub 70 says “Every Sub 70 putter is milled from a billet of 1045 carbon steel which leaves no welds, castings or inconsistencies in the head. This is the best way to make a putter head and you will not find a more solid, great feeling putter. Aesthetically each of the Sub 70 putters offers a clean, classic black and white color scheme with traditional alignment lines. We have purposefully made the heads slightly heavier than the industry standard as we feel it allows a more natural pendulum like putting stroke. “

Sub 70 also introduced a new graphite/steel putter shaft this year that offers more technology, feel and stability.

Add in these Sub 70 putters will often cost half of what major brands sell for and there would seem to be perfect balance of value and performance.

This is where we need you!

We will be selecting four golfers to test, review and keep any putter from Sub 70’s lineup with the shaft preference of their choosing.

What do you think? Up for testing what could be the best underrated putter you haven’t tried and providing your feedback along the way?

SIGN UP ABOVE!

IMPORTANT! - Screenshot and/or share the Sub 70 Putter you want to test along with shaft and grip combo to be eligible for test!

*Test is open to US only
*Available for Left and Right handed golfers.
*Registration closes Sept 13 2023 and selections announced Sept 19 2023.

I would do the Sub 70 Sycamore 009 Mini Putter Oversize Superstroke 3.0 tour and the graphite/steel single bend shaft. Can use it frequently on my artificial green in the backyard as well as on the courses in the area. Love my Taylormade but open to change.

Such a fantastic opportunity for y’all Spies.

I’m an extremely proud owner of the 002 Mid-Mallet, purchased just over a year ago … and I still can’t believe I got a custom ordered putter for $180. Been very happy with it and have really grown to love that putter.

Recently changed to a claw grip (Tommy Fleetwood style) a few months ago and it’s worked wonders for me.

Don’t sleep on Sub70!

Now THIS is the test I've been waiting to sign up for. When I was putter shopping the Sub 70 005 CS was one of 3 models that I seriously considered. The Wilson Staff I'm currently using beat it though (it also beat an Odyssey DFX #1 Double Wide). My SG with putter has been 0.0 or even positive since then. So it would be interesting to see how this would have compared to the Wilson on the course.Screenshot_20230907_102400_Firefox.jpg.77ef1454a518b5add2b5e3c41e8d86a3.jpg5 holes.

Still struggle pushing putts with my current Odyssey blade and would love to try the 002 Mid Mallet for a little forgiveness!

As a Sub70 fan I am very excited to see this.  I have heard great things about the putters and I would love to try one. It is difficult to purchase one since I put really well with my LAB DF2.1, but the Sub 70 TAIII 254 Wide Blade Putter is one of the very few putters out right now that I would consider using as an option to replace the LAB.  I would also love the same setup in the 007 Wide Blade but it is out of stock. I would love to see how this stacks up against the LAB. These are beautiful putters and everything I have experienced with Sub70 is amazing quality.  If I am lucky enough to be chosen the putter I want to try is this:

TAIII with the Super Stroke Tour 5.0 Oversize Grip, Graphite/Steel Offset Shaft at 36" would be amazing.

One of the things that is appealing to me about this over the LAB is the adjustable weights and Sub70 is nice enough to include the options for you instead of making you pay extra for them later.  I can't make adjustments on a LAB which makes perfect sense as to why but I would like to try adjusting weights and make my putter heavy and reduce my hand movement and shorten my stroke.  I would also be interested to see if adjusting weights would help based on green speeds, lighter weights for really fast greens and heavier for slow greens. The 009 Mallet and Mini look very intriguing as well. So many cool putters I want to try.

Thanks @GolfSub70 for providing the putters to do this.  It is because of these tests that made me feel comfortable making the leap to try Sub70 clubs and I am now a forever fan!

Hello Good test!!! I will not suscribe since I believe nothing now can beat my LAB DF 2.1. Good luck!!!!

I have the same putter and I am inclined to agree but I would like to compare them to see how well Sub70 does.  Everything I have used of theirs is great quality and plays well so I would like to see how their putter matches up against what I believe is the best putter made in the DF2.1.

I just changed the grip from the stock grip to the Press II 3* Smooth and I love it, it feels even better in my hands and I feel like I am making even better contact with the ball.

Would love to test out a center shafted putter after using the Odyssey DFX 2-ball for years. The Sycamore 008 Center Shaft Putter, Midsize grip, Winn 2020 VSN Midsize pistol grip, straight putter matte black steel, 34".

I'm lucky, as I get to play year round in Vancouver Canada.

It might get a bit soggy, but would be able to give the Sub70 a fair test.

Fighting a couple of nagging problems this summer into fall and my handicap has gone up to reflect (arthritic knee + sore wrist), but I'm looking forward to when grounds crew work slows down and I can do some rest and recuperation!!

Keep swinging!

Fore!

Here is the setup I would go with! I love putters and spend a lot of time on the greens practicing, I would love to give this on a shot. I have been toying with the Phantom X 7.5 and the Sycamore has a similar shape, I would love to put it to the test.

I’d like to test the 008 (not center shafted) mallet putter.  Right hand, single bend, 35 inch length with a Garsen non taper grip.
