Vegan_Golfer_PNW
A question for my fitting friends. I am thinking of maybe getting a 2I driving iron (PXG). I want it to match my iron set shaft but for the 2I they don't offer my KBS tour shaft. Want i was hoping to do was talk to them on the phone and see if they can hardstep it (put in 3I shaft i believe, so 1/2" shorter than a normal 2I shaft) so then i can have the same shafts as my irons. I know this may change the profile a little bit. My bigger question is, how would i have them adjust the Lie angle? While i can talk to a fitting expert, i figured i would ask here. My fitting of my 0211 showed i was 2.5* upright from PXG std and +1/4" in length. Any help would be appreciated. If you don't want to spend time on this, i also understand as i am still on the fence on this club. aerospace_ray 1 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. THEZIPR23
IIRC 1/2" longer changes lie upright 2* Tipping is not a bad option but it may change impact significantly. Have you thought about putting hybrid shaft into it? If using it for driving iron it may be better option. I wanted to keep the shaft feeling the same. i have thought of a hybrid shaft in X (my driver/wood/hybrid are all X) but that wasnt an option with them on the 2I (it might be if I call). The KBS Hybrid proto is supposed to be along the same profile as the KBS tour. The other option is buy the club with the stock shaft and then pull the shaft and insert the desired shaft. You may even could contact KBS directly to discuss options and/or connect KBS w/PXG. Other comments posted in this thread are good as well. jaskanski
It's worth remembering that if you intended to use a 3-iron shaft to form a hard-stepped 2-iron - you can still keep the playing length you want - it only becomes 1/2" shorter when you butt trim the raw untrimmed length is at least 41". So don't trim the butt so much...no need to adjust lie so much. PXG will adjust lie if required anyway - but so can any reputable fitter or proshop... Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Thanks for the advice guys. I called PXG and ordered. Couldn't get the KBS tour in the 2 DI which was a bummer even though i did ask if they could use a 3I shaft. Didn't want to pay the $200 upcharge for the KBS hybrid either. Went HZRDUS smoke black in stiff. Will see how that holds up for me. cnosil 1 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B.
