  1. Something i discovered in early summer trying to play through back pain is to use scotty schefflers back foot slide on the follow thru. That move really helped ease the pain i had.
  2. @Dead Solid Bogey i think the wet ground conditions is where you want to use the rear bevel on the sole.
  3. They are keepers for sure. The feel and distance control for me has been as good as anything i've played. The reason they surpassed my gamers is the toey hit i sometimes get still gets to the target and isnt short & right like i usually ended up.
  4. They should have just left it in the driving range field!
  5. I think this is true and a bit of an issue as I believe the USGA (and R&A) should take input from their membership.
  6. I got to play yesterday afternoon in some unseasonably warmish weather, 50* ! I had quite a few 65 & 80 yard shots pop up since the winter tees shorten up the course a bit. Those yardages are a good fit for the 57 & 53. I also had a few chip shots right around the green where I tend to use the 53 and I had one chip shot on a short side miss where I used the 57. At this point I am very comfortable with the distance control on the 3/4 shots and with the feel around the greens. I was 4/5 on the 65 & 80 yd shots at getting within 15' and converted 2 for birdies. One of those 4 good shots was a bit toey and a little heavy but distance did not suffer because of it. The one miss I got caught looking up and scooped a big fat divot leaving me an up & down chance. I was 3/5 getting up and down from right around the green for par. One of the up & down misses I got anxious, looked up waaay too early and fatted it about 1/2 way to the cup. The other I badly misread both break and speed and even though I hit my target landing distance it ended up 10' away and I missed the putt with another misread. Both misses were operator error and not club related (aren't they all!! ) . We caught up with another twosome and I got his impressions of the looks of the Edisons and he hit a couple shots with them too. He liked the look but they felt heavy to him compared to his light, graphite shafts. He made decent contact but a lighter set up would probably fit his feels better.
  7. I will get us in their tour schedule. And I will study up and get started on some appropriate trash talk to get the mental edge! Do we want to get this done in a cold weather round or wait for spring time warm weather?
  8. @Ben Joest a lot like the Wilson 8802! Beautiful.
  9. I should have added that they did get finished this evening. The gazebo tree is always the last of the outside lights to go up ..
  10. Temps hit mid the sunny 50's today so the last of the Christmas lights had to wait until after some golf! These winter tees are great for the ego!! Three birds and two bogeys in 15 holes before the backup on the final few holes ran us out of time to finish. The tee ball and iron direction is still behaving nicely. I hope to keep some pieces of this swing through the winter so the re-start in the spring is not too painful. No pics today as I left my phone in the car.
  11. I think he should name the team the Monahans since Jay was probably the biggest influence in him making the move to LIV.
  12. Good morning. Our old dog decided she wanted to go out so i am up already. No rain today, some outside chores to get done and then maybe time for some afternoon golf. Have a great day everyone.
  13. Sunny and 50* this afternoon with no wind...not bad for december! I made it out for 9 and made it around with 2 bogeys and 2 birdies and 5 pars. The iron play was especially on target today with 8 / 9 gir. The course was set up with winter tees so it was playing shorter. But with a stiff back i was playing shorter too! A 6' birdie after a 53* Edison wedge. I was looking for the ballmark on the next green after a 57* Edison wedge. I didnt see it until tapping in for par, about 2" from the cup! The second birdie on the 8th hole was a kick in after a pw...
  14. A cyber monday christmas gift for SWMBO arrived. Callaway preowned does a great job rating and packaging up their clubs. I was able to sneak a quick look at them and these look brand new! The set is the 5 - aw with the recoil dart shafts. I hope she hits them well, maybe i will get the g410 hand me downs!
  15. The biggest hypocrite of all is Jay who set himself up as the ceo of whatever new entity there is. And i bet he gets paid extremely well too.
  16. Flurries this morning...practice green is closed for a while...
  17. I played 9 today in some crazy conditions that made anything over 50 yards a guess since the range finder couldn't find the pin! I somehow hit 7 of 9 greens and had two real crisp 3/4 53* and three flushed set pw shots that all ended up in the middle of the green. I felt like I was keeping my spine angle and covering the ball pretty well with the ball heading toward my target line which may or may not have been at the flag! I had a slightly toey 57* that stayed straight and ended up further on the green than i expected. Another good performance from the Edisons!
  18. Have fun?!?!?!? Oh the Horror of such an approach!!! How will you ever post a score for handicap purposes if you are making up your own set of tees???!!! You have personally bifurcated the course rating and slope system! I bet you are so bold as to even give a putt here and there so not everything is holed out in your groups! (I looked for a sarcasm font but didnt find one, so just to be clear, I was being sarcastic/humorous which I hope the bookend laughing emojis indicated) I do the same thing at the course we play just so it brings a variety of clubs into play.
  19. Does Top Golf count as an off course golf course? I thought it was a target driving range, but I haven't been to one so I may be off there. There is a winter simulator league at one of the courses in the immediate area and a few simulator shops within an hours drive. I have no interest in a simulator league at this point but I do book an hour of sim time maybe twice a winter for various reasons. Mostly just to take some full swings in warmth where I am not wearing 4 layers to keep my mid season swing within the same zipcode. Other times to verify yardage gapping for an impulse buy. I dont think simulator play would interest me at $50 / hr. I tried a couple holes a few years ago when they first opened and I thought the putting aspect was really poor. Maybe that has improved since then.
  20. You and I don't have to draw the line, the tour / event / organizing group can draw the line where they want to. As long as everyone in the event or 'tour' is using the 'short' or 'long' ball then it is equitable. Bifurcation is not a big deal IMO. This happens in most all sports. The NFL uses a larger ball than college, Olympic Basketball has different rules than the NBA which has different rules than college, bats are different in college & MLB, rules are different from minor league baseball versus MLB and even from minor league to minor league as MLB uses some minor leagues as testing ground for new rules. Those sports have survived the supposed chaos of bifurcation. I believe ball mfg's are smart enough to handle the R&D / marketing of a tour level ball design given they all have multiple ball designs they are currently juggling.
  21. It was one of those days that I felt like my game was in a fog....it turns out I was!! It was supposed to be a nice day, 60* and partly cloudy. They were close, we got to 49* and the partly cloudy never left ground level. You could see the ball for about 50 yards and then nothing. We all were hitting them pretty straight and nobody in our 3-some lost a ball in the 9 holes we played. I ended up +2 with a couple lipouts so I was very happy. The Edison wedges continue to impress!! This was not a morning fog but at about 2:30 in the afternoon....

Treat yourself to an early holiday gift! For the cost of shipping you can get this Sub70 849 Pro 9* driver. Why just the cost of shipping you ask?? Well in the spirit of the pay it forward Paradym driver thread this Sub70 driver was also a club that was tested in late 2021 and found a place in my bag until late this summer. It displaced a Ping G410 Plus 9* after head to head testing and served me very well. The review & performance data is in the club review thread on the MGS forum. I had the same distance and dispersion performance as with the G410 and had quite a few playing partners ask about it after seeing how it played. Recently I found the geriatric tide was slowly eroding the sand foundation of my swing speed and a 10.5* driver is currently a better fit than a 9*. So I offer it to the membership for the cost of shipping. Or for a totally free deal, if you are traveling I95 through the north east corner of MD or DE I can meet you at one of the rest stops and hand it off. As mentioned the loft is 9*, has a Hzrdus Smoke 6.0, 60g shaft (low spin), Sub70 headcover, extra head weights, tool and soft Sub70 tool storage bag. Let me know if a different pic angle is needed. PM if you are interested. First in line gets the deal!

  23. IMO you really aren't playing the same courses. You may be on the same piece of real estate but you are using much different tees, the setup is much different regarding fairway width and rough length, the pin positions we play are not going to be in the tourney spots on many holes. The prep of the greens wont be double cut and rolled. We all know these things drastically change how a course "plays". I don't think bifurcation would be a big deal for the sport. Since the players are supplied with balls anyway, just give them the new conforming ball to use. I suspect the currently supplied balls to the pros go through extra QC anyway much like their clubs. The manufacturers have to be ahead of the announcement making and refining and testing with their tour players the new ball recipe. The quantity they need for tour use is tiny compared to the general golfing population. A tour production line would also allow for some extra built in QC they probably don't want to spend on the balls for mass production.
