  1. I'm in, thanks for the opportunity.
  2. I don't play my wedges, my wedges play me. Probably the worst part of my game after my atrocious driving distance. I'm using Cleveland CBX wedges in 54 and 58 degree lofts. And I have one of those Callaway 'Sure Out' 56 degree sand wedges with the totally huge bottom flange. Even with that the guys I golf with realize that no one, and I mean no one, is safe in any location when I'm about to have a spasm shot from a bunker. Nothing about my wedge game is "pretty", not pretty at all.
  3. I'd be curious, and learn quite a bit if I could answer one question. Do the guys on tour, any tour, that have ball deals with Titleist, Taylormade, Bridgestone, etc., outside of monograms, the number on the balls, have those golf balls hand sorted or specially selected before the balls are delivered? Or when Xander needs golf balls does he have someone call and say "Xander needs 20 dozen, white, with his initials, all numbered '8'." And presto, two days later a case of golf balls appears and gets put into play or ??? That would tell me a great deal.
  4. I've got a mixture of the Maxfli Tour and Maxfli Tour S that I suspect will be the primary balls I use this year. Snagged some of the Titleist VG3 Japanese balls as well so we'll see what we shall see. Still a good 2-3 months away, optimistically, from playing here in Wisconsin.
  5. I went to the Golf Galaxy advert (I'm sure Dick's is the same) and found that if I added 4 dozen of the Maxfli Tour in yellow they priced the same as the large 48 pack. Added 2 dozen of the yellow Maxfli Tour S and, presto, they priced at $24.99 per dozen as well instead of "2 dozen for $59.99". So I ended up ordering 6 dozen of the yellow Maxfli Tour balls for just under $150 before tax. Shipping was free and I decided today was a good day to use the "triple points" offer so I'll get another $10 gift certificate.
  6. Just read the research. I'd been aware of the earlier work showing significant performance decline for submerged golf balls but this latest work was a real revelation. I'd given up on shagging anything that was in water just on general principle and limited myself to taking an extra peek or two in the wooded areas. This has me rethinking that entirely. I agree, a test using a wider range of golf balls to include some of the popular DTC offerings and some popular 2 piece golf balls would be an excellent idea.
  7. We had a PGASS go in about a mile from Golf Galaxy. The PGA store has done well based in large part on how the staff has been trained and/or selected to begin with. PGA has a larger selection. The staff at GG, which is chronically understocked, is quick to tell you why you didn't really want what you say you wanted. They delight in adopting an "I'm MUCH more informed than you are, perhaps I'll share some of my wisdom with you..." approach; making conversation next to impossible. Couple that with the outrageous prices GG slaps on used clubs and I guess I'll be surprised if GG isn't gone by this time next year. Sad situation.
  8. I wear four turtlenecks from "32 degrees". Lightweight, flexible, comfy. Light wool sweater over that and finally my windshirt. Hand warmers in each pocket. Warm hat. Hankie handy because a runny nose in cold, windy weather happens. Silk sock liners under a pair of smartwool socks. Keep the golf balls in a pocket with its own hand warmer and rotate them. And 1 or 2 clubs more than normal for me. I was hoping to play Thursday but it's questionable if the snow will have melted here in Wisconsin, dammit. Season might be over here, sadly. Which means fussing over the equipment and a regrip with hopes for an early spring.
  9. Just placed my order and it worked like a charm. Thanks to those who made this arrangement, seems like a "win" for everyone and I appreciate it. I noticed that, yes. Figured it was some sort of glitch but then again I'm not a technological savant.

  11. I've tried three times throughout the day, no luck. Also sent MGS an email letting them know. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
  12. For the GP Velvet grips I use a product called Bleche White; pick it up for about $4 in most auto supply stores. Outside (it's not a good idea to use this in the house) with grip pointed down, give the grip several good sprays to cover the grip base to top. With a soft bristle kitchen sink type brush I scrub the grip. No need to go nuts just give it a good gentle scrub. Rinse thoroughly with water, let dry. You do this once every 4-5 weeks and that set of grips will last you at least 2 seasons or until you find some other way to mess 'em up. Good luck.
  13. I still like the Stability shaft, no question about that whatsoever. I probably don't have the "feel" others might have in the sense that switching to the Superstroke counterweight wasn't noticeable in terms of placement. I will say that the weight in mind was similar in placement to the Superstroke where the one you pictured seems to be more of a butt end weight. Might be that they differentiate during the fitting on where the counterweight needs to be placed to get the user the best results. All I had to do was reduce the diameter of the Superstroke "screw in" top; it was too wide for the Stability shaft and the Edel grip. A few minutes on the sanding wheel on my bench grinder and presto, ready to go.
  14. The Ping 700 or 710 have been suggested, good choices. The Callaway Mavrik Max irons are also quite forgiving and, being a few years old, are more affordable. The PXG 2021 0211's are also very forgiving. Good luck with your quest.
  15. Congratulations, gents. Looking forward to your efforts in support of MGS.
  16. Here's a link to what it is made of in case you have to use a different product. The listing linked is aerosol, I use it in a non-aerosol spray version. Hope this helps. https://www.whatsinproducts.com/types/type_detail/1/22380/standard/p class="p1">Black Magic Bleche-Wite Tire Cleaner 120139, Aerosol-09/11/2018/p>/09-009-057
  17. I can, on a decent day, hit the ball 300 yards. Just not in one shot...ever...
  18. Value Golf is a good source for graphite shaft counterweights. 4 grams at the butt of the shaft = 1 swing weight lighter. And adding even 12 or 16 grams under your left hand isn't really noticeable in terms of how the club feels. It's a simple hack to reduce swing weight while maintaining the length you''d like. The counterweight simply sits inside the butt of the shaft, add your grip tape ( or a piece of masking tape if you're using air to install grips) and away you go.
  19. Here in the US we have a product at auto supply stores called "Bleche White", it's a tire cleaner. Working outside (it's got a strong odor and isn't the best product to use in a confined space) I spray a few shots on the grip, take a brush to work it in to the grip, let it sit about 15 seconds, and give a good rinse with fresh water. Let dry and off you go. Removes the hand oil and dirt that builds up and creates the slick grip feeling. Do NOT use it on other than traditional composition grips, i.e. Winn or Super Stroke. You can get 3-4 times the life out of a set of grips by doing this routine once every three months or so.
  20. And by definition interesting for a lot of us. I just finished building a Callaway Mavrik Max 7 iron using a Vista Pro iron shaft in L flex, D0 swing weight, which I'll compare to a Mavirk Max 7 iron in A flex.
  21. Communication between the manufacturer and the fitter/customer seems to be an issue for the past couple of years, unfortunately. As in not updating lead times, not returning calls/emails in anything remotely resembling a reasonable period of time. I wish, and that's all it is, a wish, that businesses would realize that when we have a good experience with a business we tend to tell, on average, 3-4 people. When, on the other hand, the experience is negative we average sharing it with 12 people.
  22. I enjoy the Callaway OptiFit adapter. As a 'hack" I simply use the LH adapter (I'm a right handed golfer) if I want to be able to go down 2 degrees/up 1 degree with a particular driver head. Just have to remember to read it in "reverse".
  23. Unfortunately I use a swing weight scale. Hopefully Stu will see this post and reply, he's one of the people on the thread that uses the balance point method and can be a LOT more helpful in this particular situation. I use a syringe with a needle that I "inject" through the grip, hard to describe it in words. As a caveat, things like Winn grips are, for me at least, a "cut 'em off" situation based on their two layer construction.
  24. No worries, Reb, do it when time permits. Enjoy the wedding and happy new year from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin.
