Oh I’m trying to completely reset the bag. I still have my first set and while I’ve improved over the years and changed, I haven’t changed what I’m hitting. My shafts are all over the place some stiff some regular. Idk what I’ll do. I need a fitting but at my work we only have Taylormade and Srixon. I’d like to see everything

I have been considering replacing my older Adams Pro Hybrid since late in the fall. Well, after another visit to the PGASS this morning I finally finished testing the Ping, Calloway, TaylorMade, and Titleist 3 hybrid equivalents. Results were all pretty close with no significant performance differences. At least not with my swing...🙄
Ended up pulling the trigger on the Titleist TRS 2 18* for a completely subjective reason; I liked the way it set up at address.
I'm sure I'll be banned from PGASS for a few weeks' minimum...🤣🤣

Can't get Ping's iron releases out of my head. First, it was the Blueprints, and now I see the G730's everywhere. Not sure if I am ready to bite the bullet on a full set yet, but oh am I close.

I've been away for a bit. Still top 4 poster in this thread though lol.
Going for a Vokey SM10 wedge fitting on Saturday.

I have played a lot of different wedges: Vokeys, Ping Glide, Mizunos, Tayloremade for a short time, Cleveland, Edel. Just about every major brand lol.
I was fit only for the Edel, those were off a mat, and primarily focused on full swing. For the Vokeys, I'm keeping an open mind, not sure what I will fit into.

I’m looking at possibly changing my wedges and fairways. Loved my Vokey SM9 58* T grind for most of last year, but swing changes have me coming in a bit steeper with the wedges. I’m finding the T grind a bit too demanding lately. I’m either scooping or topping the thing. Also want to possibly edit my 3HL/5W/7W combo at the top of the bag. I really think I can cover the distances needed with 2 fairway woods rather than three if properly fitted. I plan on going to Club Champion in the upcoming weeks to get everything dialed in for the upcoming season, and I’ll also be checking the gapping on my irons while there. It’ll be the first time I’ve been properly fitted and I’m really looking forward to it!

I’m thinking about getting a pair of Jordan Low G golf shoes.  I’ve worn Foot joy mostly, pro SL.  I’ve had a pair of foot joy for 4 years and a pair of Ecco for 2 years. I wouldn’t mind having another pair to wear around.

I wear Jordan Lows as my kick around sneaker.  I think it’s time to make the switch.

Haha. I don't hold on to much and try to trade out anything I am not using. Not to mention we just installed a hot tub so I have a little grace currently.

I have been wanting a new 3 wood for a while and was in my local PGASS and they had all their demo Paradym woods on sale.  Same pricing that you can find them on CPO.  Picked up the TD 3 wood and after trade was under $150.

Same.  I experienced it the other way, I had a shorter shaft in my PING 400Max, then when I went to the PING 425 the shaft was longer (maybe 1 inch), can't hit it straight, reduced the shaft and the dispersion was better.  I am still playing the Max400 as I just like the contact and feel better, but for example with the shorter shaft yesterday on my home course, I was 11/13 FIR (my average is 53%), I feel it is much better for my swing.  But I only drive the ball about 200-210, I don't swing big either.

we found after several fittings that most golfers will do better with a shorter club.
the quality of hit goes up resulting in longer drives and tighter dispersion

After coming off of the Mizuno long game test where the ST-X driver came standard at 45” and my Paradym was gamed at standard 45.75” I saw little benefit to going 3/4” shorter. However… I would be curious to see if going below 45” on the driver would help at all especially because I tend to play my 3 Wood at 16.5 for higher launch which widens the gap between driver and 3W.

I got fitted for a Titleist driver and because of my tendency to create a lot of spin we shortened my shaft by 1inch and went for a heavier shaft weight. Hitting it lower, straighter and further as a result.

I play a Ping G20 driver 10.5* with a 50 gram A-flex shaft. It plays at 451/2 inches. I hit it well but would like to get a little better control. My thought before cutting anything down is to grip down in 1/2 inch increments. My plan is to use different color 1/2 tapes to mark the end of the grip and see what gives me the best results.

I've been playing my Taylormade Sim 2 Max at the stock 45 1/2 length, I was able to hit it well yet would spray the drives. I decided to cut it down from 45 1/2 inches to 44 1/4, What a difference, I gained approximately gain about 2 yds and the spraying has subsided.
I'm making better contact now and have become more consistent.
Has anyone experienced the same success? What has your results by going to a shorter or even a longer shaft in your driver?

I'm glad you brought this up and it's being discussed. I remember my driver when I started playing was shorter, because standard was shorter than it is now. I probably would have less left-right dispersion with the shorter club, and I've thought that could or should be part of fitting. Though it probably doesn't come up most of the time I would guess. It makes a lot of sense. There is just less room for things to go wrong with a shorter shaft.
After women's clubs, I had a Lynx Boom Boom driver originally and then a Callaway Big Bertha War Bird 🙂 I think these are still around at my dad's house. I might have to do a measurement if I get a chance.

These are important questions, @HikingMike.  And I think the answer is very personalized.
According to this recent article, average driver length on tour is 44.5"  https://www.todays-golfer.com/features/equipment-features/2020/june/driver-shaft-length/
Note too how the article says many in its testing group hit *longer* drives with a shorter shaft due to better strikes.
    Tiger apparently plays 43.5" FWIW.
After all my other tinkering and testing, I intend this summer to try at 44.5" or even 44" to see how it affects fairways hit.
UPDATE:  Here is one of several MGS threads on this issue:
