  1. So sorry for your loss @buckpillar.
  2. I have had a very positive experience with FootJoy customer service I thought would be helpful to some to hear about. Last year, on the MGS recommendation, I bought a pair of FootJoy Hyperflex Carbon shoes in May or June. These are the best shoes I have ever had. They are extremely comfortable, supportive, and incredibly stable. They don't slip on wet ground. And the spikes have yet to wear down or come loose. In a word: awesome. This week, the plastic shoelace hole/holder unfortunately broke. I contacted FJ customer service, sent them a few pictures, and they immediately shipped me a replacement pair which should be here in short order. There were very few questions asked; they just wanted to see what happened and verify I had the pair of shoes I said I had. This all happened via email, and was very simple, and FJ was quite friendly about it. Color me impressed.
  3. You didn't ask me, @Michael.Sandoval33, but I game a combo set with TS3 in 4-8 irons. I find no sound issues at all; in fact, to me, the TS4 irons sound more metallic on impact than the TS3 do. I am big fans of both. When you hit the TS3 pure, you don't even feel the club, and the sound is just the muted "woosh" you would expect from a forged iron. At least, that's my opinion, and I hope it helps!
  4. Good morning Spies! A busy Friday and weekend on tap here. Big work day today, followed by a night out tonight. Then tomorrow I get the pleasure of meeting and golfing with @CudaKota66 at his home track. Very much looking forward to that. I hope you all have excellent days and enjoyable weekends!
  5. My head is a size 8. Any one-size-fits-all or stretchy or snapback baseball cap won't fit, or looks like I am wearing a beanie. If I can squeeze them on they still look ridiculous. I tend to stick with visors, or paperboy caps, for these reasons. There are companies out there that make baseball style hats for larger heads. I have one and it looks pretty good. I just googled it and came up with 4-5 options straight away. It's a first world problem, but it's a problem!
  6. A quick update from my round yesterday afternoon with the Qi10. It was a sunny day, but the wind was nuts. Played Sahm golf course on the north side of Indy from the "championship" tees despite the wind. (My golf buddy affectionately refers to it as "Sahm National.") It is an early Pete Dye design (1963). I like it because it has surprisingly good greens, even with heavy summer play. This course has been the starter course for many a Central Indiana golfer. That said, it's not super easy from the tips. It was a tough scoring day as distance and ball flight were affected greatly by the wind, which was somehow always face-on or across the fairway; it was only at my back on three holes. Given the conditions (did I mention the wind?), I am not going to judge the Qi10 on distance in this round. But from an accuracy perspective, the Qi10 continues to shine. With a relatively good swing (my usual and necessary qualifier), the Qi10 will go where you want it to. I hit a few off the toe and they went a bit higher but still straight. And I was able to keep the ball flight low when necessary. All in all, it was a good performance by the Qi10 driver, in spite of the poor performance of its handler. I look forward to more rounds and more testing.
  7. I see the ads on FB, and it seems like a logical training aid. Not sure on the strength and speed side but maybe. Has anyone tried it? Thoughts?
  8. Good morning Spies! Wishing you the best @Dead Solid Bogey. May things improve for you. Busy day here with lots of calls, doctor this morning, then bundling up to play 18 this afternoon. Will be high 40’s at tee time then dropping. But it beats working. I wish you all wonderful days!
  9. Thanks @GolferXY. Smash factor is definitely up there. I don’t have ball flight data from the course, but on the range the apex was 90-100 feet on good shots. Note too that I have the driver lofted down to 7°, and I tend to hit driver high and spinny without lofting down. In other news, I had a lesson today that was mostly focused on driver. We implemented some big changes that will have me swinging easier but better, and should lead me to getting some distance back eventually after initial regression. Afterward, I hit the sim and tried to practice the swing changes, and compared two new shafts in the Qi10. Both shafts performed well. Ultimately the ACCRA TZ RPG LBP stiff shaft prevailed over the ACCRA iSeries 152 senior flex. The TZ RPG was more consistent. They actually felt remarkably similar. I view these results as preliminary but helpful for the short-term. I played a few holes for fun and hit the Qi10 as much as possible. It is very forgiving. With decent swings it just goes where I aim. I started playing baby cuts and it became a fairway finder. Here are two back-to- back drives. I plan to game the Qi10 tomorrow afternoon and will report back on how it performs!
  10. I built up the new shafts to try with the Qi10. First is the ACCRA TZ RPG LBP in M4 (stiff) flex, and Iomic grip with 5 wraps. Next is the ACCRA iSeries 152 in M2 (Senior) flex. This is an Otto-Phlex shaft I am trying a little longer as an experiment. And hey @jbern notice anything? Very eager to try these out!
  11. I have played 4 rounds with the X5 and like it a lot. Auto putting has worked well for me. A couple things I either need to better understand or could be improved: 1. Is My Strategy viewable on the app? I don’t see it. It’s very useful but I have had to use a browser during the round to see it, and on the phone that is clunky. 2. Deleting “shots” mid-round is impractical. I knocked a found ball out of some weeds recently with a wedge and it recorded a shot for me and I just had to leave it for later editing. Any suggestions for these? Thanks all!
  12. Good morning Spies! At 10:00 last night I started dreaming of playing golf on Sunday, so I convinced FABWIFE to load up the car and dogs and hit the road rather than waiting until morning. Golf addicted for sure. I took the 10 hour overnight. Thank goodness for coffee! Only 4 hours to go. And now golf tomorrow. Seems like a fair trade to me. Also, in case you wondered if our dogs are spoiled, may I present this evidence: (a) we drove to Florida so they could go with us, and (b) compare their space with the back seat. They are great dogs. I hope everyone has a super weekend!
  13. Good morning, Spies! I have a busy day ahead of juggling work balls this morning, then shuttling the college kids to the airport, oil changes, car cleanouts (vacuuming sand - ack), etc. It will be good, productive day, if I have any control at all. I think my golf brain, body, and swing need a few days respite anyway. Too much range time can be counter-productive in my case. The mods are doing a fantastic job here with all the testing opportunities and whatnot. Thank you. I wish you all super days and a wonderful weekend!
  14. So sorry to hear this @Peaksy68. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  15. You may want to try a relatively high launching but stable lower flex shaft if you want more distance. I am a huge fan of the ACCRA FX 3.0 140 M0, which is in my gamer (for now?). It is technically a senior/ladies flex shaft but does not feel like it at all. At all. You can find YT videos about it being similar to the Autoflex, and less $$$. If you really want to go down that rabbit hole go read the Otto-Phlex thread here. We will see you in a couple weeks when you climb back out. Ha. Best of luck on your search!
  16. I carry the ball 300 yards plus all the time. When it’s my spare in my pocket.
  17. I’m sorry to hear that @GolfSpy_BEN. You hard swinging monster you!
  18. Cool story here in part about Rory’s Qi10 driver and his “once a round” caddy rule. https://apple.news/A5IE357KOTcSlfOPTwKODaA
  19. Also, for the Rogue, I bought some inexpensive tungsten putty at a hobby store and put that inside the gold weight compartment in lieu of buying a Callaway weight. That worked fine and was fully customizable in case you don’t know how much weight you want to add. I would recommend that or tape to start with, at least until you determine precisely how much weight you need. Good luck!
  20. Good morning Spies! Up early to get a few hours of work done before joining FABWIFE and eldest daughter and friend on a kayak excursion. I wish you all super days!
  21. I know those days with the mid-round interruptions constantly. I'm sorry you had to endure it today @RoverRick. Looks like you played ok regardless.
