Congrats on the PB Rob! 

This morning was a weird day of golf for me. I feel like I have to tell this one, so if it's TL/WR, skip to the bottom
I was up at 04f:this for no reason,  so decided to leave the lady boss to her beauty sleep. Went online and found a course about 30 minutes away offering what I thought was a good deal for a round, under $26 for 18 holes. Booked it for 0700 tee time. So I packed up the franken-cart and bag into the truck and headed out.
I arrived and not a sole or vehicle in sight! No gates, and about 20 carts just half ass parked with keys in them in all directions. 

It was only 645 so I decided to head over to the putting/chipping area. There were about 10 balls laying on the practice green, or what was left of one anyway.


After 20 minutes of chipping,  I walked back to the truck, and still, not a single person to be seen. Then out of nowhere a guy pulls up off the #1 tee on a craftsman riding lawn tractor, and told me they were closed.  Yes, the same lawnmower everybody has seen in front of lowes or home depot. But at least 20 years old. 
I told him I paid online through their site, and he said they haven't used that service for almost a year, and it was supposed to be disabled. I guess he felt bad, because he told me to grab a cart and go play. (I lifted the seat and made sure there was gas in it!)  He told me to be careful because nobody would be in until 9am if I had any trouble.
So, off to play I went!

The course looked promising enough. And I had it all to myself!!  I realized there was no scorecard or pencil on the cart, so I grabbed an old one from my bag just to keep track of my round somehow.
I tee off and away I went!!
Well, now I know why it was closed!!!  The fairways and greens were punched!  If you could call them fairways at all! 1st, not a single cart path. Just overplayed dirt where one may have been years ago. The fairways were a mix of ruts, tree roots. Rocks, amd some scarce green stuff.

20240531_065403.mp4   So as I kept playing,  things did not improve much at all. Half the greens were drenched (not draining) most had large sand patches filling in holes or something.  Getting a true read was impossible!  My ONLY saving grace was my chipping and getting it close to the pin.
I did have one memorable drive today though.  249 yards! I don't know where it came from, as me and the Stix driver did not sync up well today for the most part.  If it wasn't for wide open fairways, there would have been lots of trouble off the tee boxes! Left me with a 70yd approach to the green.

The toughest part was not knowing if O was on a par4 or par5 holes.  I did play from the middle tees today.
I decided 9 holes was enough,  and headed back to the parking lot.  There was 1 car in it when I arrived. I parked the cart, unloaded everything,  and went to the "club house"  where a guy in his 70s I'm guessing, told me they were closed for maintenance. (No kidding!!) I asked for how long and he told me for at least October., except for a local league that they host on Sundays. I then saw a sign on the counter that said " NO WALKERS" 
I asked him if they had any scorecards, and he reached in a drawer, and handed me one that was torn off of something.  I stopped asking questions at this point, because clearly, simply put, he wasn't very receptive.
So I transposed my numbers to what I am assuming is the even the right scorecard.

 I shot my PB score over 9 holes, and while that got me excited,  I also understand there's a chance this was a fluke or i got handed the wrong card...😆

34 putts killed me on a day where I was driving the ball exceptionally well. Very disappointing 😞

The best parts of my round yesterday were the cost and pace of play. For $14 I played 18 holes in 2:08 using a discount card my wife got me for Christmas. 
However, it was frustrating because I'm not making good contact with the ball, so accuracy was way off and I only hit a few GIR. When I'd try to make the smart play and chip out to the fairway or lay up, I'd screw that up too and cost an extra stroke. Other than putting I was disappointed all around in my play.

Awful.

I played today with my 1976 high school golf team!! What a fun day!!

Well, my 49th. mission amateur is in the books, yes 49 years ago the committee allowed two juniors to play in the event, I was 16 years old.. 
Unfortunately for me I did not perform up to my standards 80-76, the 76 was in very wet difficult conditions, I actually had to turn my hat around as when i was putting the water was dripping off the rim. Luckily I had a great caddy that kept everything dry...
50th anniversary next year, will be geared up for that...

You can keep all the snakes… lol
@Rob Person bet you had to get the one with all the bells and whistles that the wife wanted.

This is effective vs bears, slightly overkill for something that’s maybe as thick as my wrist lol.

Went to Bealls store after dinner with wife. Ended up buying 3 pair of golf shorts...

😬 I had to bite the bullet on a dryer Last month.  I feel.the pain in my back hip with ya!

Good morning spies from the White Mountains of Arizona. So my trials and tribulations are not over with the trailer yet. The brakes worked great for about an hour, once the system got hot everything crashed again. So more trouble shooting. But, the trailer is at its summer home, there is fishing and a nine hole course near by. So things are good. We are about 7000 feet so it stays nice pretty much all summer and is only a couple of hours from Mesa. Wednesday game is over we can jump in the truck or car and get out of the heat for a few days.

We got fellow spy's teeing it up at Kingsmill, wish I could be there but work had to block it out this year, Play well.
Busy day today, help the daughter with her booth at the river rally then getting a free concert with Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, been following them since the early 80's
Great Bad from Pittsburgh!! Give them a listen, they are good friends with Springsteen and some of there music is influenced by him.
