Shot a 42. Started off with 4 pars before it fell apart. Drained a bunch of putts today to save par or bogey. No Big numbers. Big stick was working really well today and kept me in play. No lost balls or penalties. Not even a bunker.

I've been reading up on course management and seeing a lot of DECADE golf information out there. That's got to be helping. Firing at a pin is rare now. Aiming for your now and away from trouble is money.

There exist a wedge in my bag that doesn't want to play anymore. Looking online for his replacement.

Still carded 2 the putts. Either I need to improve my lag putting or my approach shots. From 40ft out I'm pretty much going to have 3 goes at it..

    Golf is dope.

Beautiful scenery out there.  whenever I see hill/mountains in the background it is always beautiful.   East coast golf is basically flat

    Funny you mention this...
I did this in league last night, at a course I'm not a member at. The course that I AM a member at, I play league tonight. The members have the reverse hole in one rule, that whoever got it gets to drink for free that night....and many...MANY following nights.

I did it boys! MY FIRST HOLE IN ONE!
My only green in regulation the whole night, played awful....but it only takes one! Hard hole, tight, 185 yards, 6 iron. One of the toughest par 3s in our area (Skenandoah). Pitched a foot or so behind the hole and spun back in the hole. I refused to believe it but it actually happened. I've been playing golf 30 of my 36 years on this planet, being around scratch the last 5 years and honestly never thinking it would happen and it happened.
Bar bill wasn't too bad, about $200.

Went to the club to hit some chips and putt but the range was closed and the greens were being watered. The course was pretty empty due to a mid day tournament so I decided to go out and play 9... That turned into 18.

Shot a personal best of 84! Besides that, I played with the same ball for the first time ever. That's huge to me.

Hit some great chips to save par. Kept the ball in play off every tee box. Made a few bad swings and missed some putts that I shouldn't have but still very happy.

On top of that, met some great guys out there. Someone called me a "good golfer". That's crazy. There's levels to good.

Seems the lessons and constant practice is starting to slowly pay off.

Can't wait to fire a 110 next time out because golf....

Shot an 85. This is decent for my skill level. But the ALMOST factor is killing me. Was at a 33 on the back coming into the last hole, par 5. Decent drive into the fairway, then fired my first shank of the day into the woods. Tricky approach and a terrible putt... Triple.

I almost shot my lowest round and lowest 9 holes. A bogey was all I needed... Sigh.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. At least I'm seeing some improvement finally. Put two 5 irons from about 180 to 6 feet or so. Birdied one and left the other short by half a rotation.

Kept it in the fairway or close enough to it and around the green was money with the 58 degree.

Putting. Specifically lag putting killed me!

    Back to the range.

    Hit em straight.

    Garage sesh.

50/60/70 yard shots. Same swing, different wedges. Just about at 60mph club head speed.

On to full swings with a focus on a wide takeaway and soft hands during the transition. I've started trying to control the head too much which leads to stiff wrists and loss of lag/speed.

Tonight I'll roll 50ish putts on the carpet just working on start line.

Back to the range tomorrow for short game. Golf is good.

Went to the range this afternoon, no open bays and didn't look like there would be any before the range closed. So went to the putting green and tried lag putts with the DF 2.1 (still needs a lot of work). Then back to the hotel for a Rypstick workout. Averaged 89 mph at the end instead of 92, but for 89 to be somewhat disappointing represents huge progress. Gonna do a Fit For Golf either tonight or first thing in the AM, since I don't have to be at work until like 11. Might also go hit balls before work.

Just a light stay loose prep for the Kingsmill trip practice of few dry swings with the Orange Whips (compact, mid and full length) and a little basement putting (3, 5, 8 ft).

I picked up a similar habit years ago. Pitch from one side of the tee box to the other, seeing who can hit the marker with the fewest strokes. Arccos really did not like that at all.

Buddy I played with ages ago would walk to his wayward ball and dribble a ball on the way. He was good at it. He'd dribble by the cart and on the tee box. That was his reset mechanism. I've adopted it. I'm not good at it. But it's something to focus on besides the blow up hole.

Same guy that taught me how to avoid getting restless when we were backed up in the tee boxes. He'd chip from one tee to the next. Maybe skip one. Make a game of hitting the blue marker post or what have you. Still playing, still competing. Even though we were waiting and could be growing impatient, I swear it helped keep you in the game.

Miss that guy. Brandon was a solid dude.

I’ll use my ShotScope data to provide my $.02 (that’s usually all it’s worth according to SWMBO). My fairways hit with my driver currently sits at 41%. My score to par from the fairway is even. My scores from left rough is +.1 and from the right rough it’s +.4. However, if you separate my “good misses” on both sides my stats are -.1 from both left and right. So, in short, I am likely to average par from 10 yards left to 10 yards right of the fairway. When I miss the fairway by more than 10 yards my average score is +0.5 to par. For myself, I wouldn’t sacrifice 30 yards for a few fairways unless it’s the only way to keep me out of trouble. In which case, I’m going to go get fitted for a new shaft to see if that helps my dispersion before I succumb to shorter hits off the tee.

There's a reason I'm not necessarily worried about where my ball lands with my drive.  The main reason is it's closer to the green than any other club. the only way to get better is playing the shots we don't ever practice. That includes hitting out of the rough, or punching out from trees. We aren't professionals, but we sure can pretend we are when we hit those great recovery shots.
