Grant AFG's Review of the Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club Set from All Kids Golf

Hi everyone! I'm Grant, and I'm really really excited to be getting a new set of golf clubs to test from All Kids Golf!  I'm 10 years old, turning 11 in October, and I'm 58" tall. That puts me into the Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club 7-club set for kids 57-60" tall. I can't wait for them to arrive!

My Dad really really likes golf, so he's been taking me out on the course for 9 holes since I was 4. At first I would just hit a few shots and was mostly along for the cart ride and snacks, but now I'll play a full 9, sometimes more, and I'm even playing from the forward tees now! My Dad has had me (and my little brother and sister) in US Kids Golf clubs for years now, but I've outgrown my current set. Guess now they'll go to my little brother!

As far as my golf ability, I really only play for about 2 months every year.  My Dad likes to brag that I'm a really good athlete; he even jokes to his grown-up friends that he's not convinced he's actually my father, because I'm such a better natural athlete than he is! 🤣  Anyway, the point is, I play a lot of baseball every year and I'm a really good hitter. But, that means my Dad typically won't let me play much golf during baseball season because he's worried it will mess with my baseball swing.

Baseball season is over though, and while I'm about to start football season, there are a lot of twilight 9's in my future over the next couple of months!  Let's go let's go!

Unboxing & First Impressions: 9 out of 10
Sorry that unboxing video my Dad took wasn't that great.  Next time he'll probably just stick with pictures.  The set came pretty much exactly as you see in the photos, except the irons and putter had a cloth sleeve tied over each one that I couldn't get off!  It made for a bad video, and my Dad had to get the scissors to help me...they were tied on there tight!  I guess that's a good thing to protect them while they're being shipped though.
Anyway, I love my new clubs!  Dad's taking me out for 9 holes tomorrow afternoon and I'm so excited to put these in play! All Kids has sent me a driver, 5 wood, hybrid, 7 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge, and putter.  (I'm already wearing my Dad out on buying some more clubs to fill out the set.)

I'm really really REALLY excited about the driver.  Last two sets of US Kids Golf sets had a 19 degree wood in it, but this is a real no-kidding driver!  I actually told my Dad "wow, this is HUGE" when I took the head cover off.  I hope I can hit it well tomorrow.

As for the irons and putter, they look so sleek and shiny!  Here's the 7 iron.  (Like I said, I'm already trying to get my Dad to fill this set out with the rest of the irons.)

And here's the bag.  When my Dad takes me golfing we always get a cart, so I'm not sure I'll end up having much to say about the comfort of carrying my clubs in this bag or not.  I feel a little bad for saying this, but I did comment to my Dad that the bag feels a little thin, I guess?  Like the material itself seems a little thinner or maybe not as sturdy as my last US Kids set, and that's why we're taking a point off.

    Aesthetics: 19 out of 20

I'll start out with the negative...why did I take 1 point off for aesthetics? The bag! (Kind of a theme here, but that's really not a big deal...I'll talk about that later.) I mean, the clubs look great and are really confidence inspiring for me. The bag...I'm not sure what's going on there. I mean is that supposed to be camoflauge, or maybe match the color of grandma's curtains?  I don't get it.
The clubs, now that's another matter.  I think they look awesome!  A big driver (my first real driver) was intimidating at first but I eventually started to feel like I couldn't miss with it.  And my 5 wood was the same story...at first I wasn't sure I could hit a ball without a tee with it, but I definitely figured it out!
As I've shown in some of my comparison pics throughout this thread, they're definitely bigger and longer than my old US Kids Golf set, but that makes sense doesn't it? I'm growing after all!

The Numbers: 19 out of 20
So, being just 10, I don't have a bunch of Trackman of Quad data for you, but my Dad did help me do a little experiment. The other day we got to play 9 holes with almost nobody on the course, cuz it was really really hot. (Dad said he'd get me a Dr. Pepper if I played, so I toughed it out!)
Anyway, we stopped at a hole and I hit 5 drives with my "old" US Kids Golf driver.  It was harder to hit than I remember, but of those 5 drives I hit 3 that Dad said were good playable tee shots. I hit those 3 shots 173 yards, 182 yards, and 164 yards. On the next hole, we did the same thing but with my Lynx Ai driver.  I hit 4 good ones with the Lynx, and they were all over 180 yards!  One of them was almost 200!
On the Course: 17 out of 20
I got my first real par yesterday! I've had a few pars when Dad has put a tee in the fairway from 100 or 150 yards out, which he did all the time when I was younger. Last time I started to ask if I could play from the real tee boxes, and this year that's all I do. On the third hole, a par 3 that was playing 145 yards, I hit a hybrid on the green and almost made the birdie putt, and then I made the par!  I don't know if that's necessarily because of the clubs, but I think it's safe to say they definitely work for me! I knocked off a few points (because my Dad told me too) because he still thinks a kids club set should have more irons than woods. I don't know if he's right about that, but he certainly thinks he is.
The Good, the Bad, the In Between: 14 out of 20
So, about that bag. I don't want to be mean, but I've had nicer ones.

To be more exact about it, for starters (as I've already mentioned) the pattern of the Lynx bag (on the right) is just really funky. More importantly though, the material also feel thinner, like if your not careful a tee would poke through it, almost. There's also no hard plastic grab handle at the top of the bag, and the padding in the straps is definitely less than the US Kids set.
Now, is that a big deal?  Maybe not. I'm not walking for golf much right now anyways. But I do wonder how this bag will hold up in the long run. Eventually these will become my little brothers set; I hope the bag last that long!
Play It or Trade It:  18 out of 20
Oh, I just gave it away!  Definitely a "Play It!" I'd be pretty ticked off if my Dad tried to trade them, I can say that much! I did knock off 2 points here for the same durability concerns about the bag, and I do wish I had an 8 iron and a Pitching Wedge. But Dad said he'd go ahead and order those to help me fill out the set!
    Conclusion
I love my Lynx Ai clubs! I don't know if my testing of them proves that Lynx Ai clubs are any better or worse than other kids clubs though. I think what it does show, is that age and size appropriate clubs matter. I'd only outgrown my old set by a couple inches, but the new set has me hitting the ball farther than ever before and having more fun because of it. That just goes to show you that All Kids Golf is really where parents should go to make sure they're getting their kids golf clubs that will help them enjoy golf and get better at it!

MaxLight's Review of the Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club Set from All Kids Golf
    Introduction
My name is Max, and I am 8 years old. I live in eastern Pennsylvania. My dad introduced me to golf a few years ago, right around the time that he started playing himself. I’ve been going to the driving range and the course with him ever since. I’ve also gone to a golf camp, taken an after-school class, and been to two USGA championships (US Senior Open at Saucon Valley CC in 2022, and the US Women's Open at Lancaster CC this year). I am pretty good instinctively with my driver and putter, but need to work on my short game.

My dad tries to coach me, too, but I prefer to figure things out by myself. We recently played our first full 18 holes together (he usually teed me up around 100-120 yards from the green). I’m very competitive, but also sometimes get distracted by my attempts to master trick shots and be silly.

I also play soccer, baseball, basketball, and basically any other sport you can imagine. I've become really good at disc golf this summer at camp, too! I’m excited to try these new clubs out to see if they fit me better than my old ones, which I probably have outgrown. I can hit the ball decently for distance but need forgiveness as I continue to learn and get better.

PXL_20240406_161500440.mp4 I’m planning to test my new clubs with a combination of practice and on-course play. I’m going to use them at home (we have a net and a SkyTrak in the garage), at a full simulator that I have access to, and also on the course. I want to compare them to my current clubs to see if they are longer and/or more consistent. I also want to see how they feel in terms of weight, grip and flex. I also am hoping I’ll have more total clubs (currently just driver, iron, wedge and putter) to choose from based on distance and lie, and I’m curious to see if this will be beneficial for me at this point in my golf journey. I’ve only ever known one set of clubs in my life until now! I am actually at overnight camp right now and am returning this weekend, and was planning on focusing on golf in the second half of the summer anyway.

I’ve never heard about All Kids Golf in that past, so I’m interested to see how these clubs fare. If they are suited to my height and weight, provide the options I need to hit the shots I know how to hit, and provide reasonable length and forgiveness, I’m hoping that these will become my new gamers for the next year or two (and for my two younger brothers in the years after that!).
Unboxing and First Impressions (9 out of 10)
I’m back from a month at camp! I’ve gotten really good at Frisbee and played a lot of soccer and gaga, but haven’t swung a golf club in over a month. My dad wrote me a letter to tell me about my new clubs and the fist thing I wanted to do when I got home was to try them out!

My first reaction was, "Wow, these look so cool!" I loved the colorful design of the bag. My old set of clubs had just a wedge, iron, driver and putter, so I’m excited to now have an additional iron and a hybrid added to the mix – especially since I’m now playing full holes and could use some longer clubs for second shots on par 5 holes.

Since my dad had the golf net and launch monitor set up in the garage, I gave the clubs a few swings. I definitely need to work out some kinks in my swing after this long layoff to get a true feel for how these compare to my old clubs. The first thing I noticed is that they are much longer, and since I’m the bottom of the height range for this model, it means choking down, which I find to be a bit awkward at first.

PXL_20240721_223823449.mp4.98e4d150aaa3a8486a5c266075693389.mp4 Another thing that I noticed is that my bag kept falling over when I pulled out clubs. I think this has to do with the fact that one of the slots, when the stand is out, is vertical and the two clubs I had I that slot thus sat on top of one another. When I pulled out a club, the grip rubs against the hosel of the other, pulling the entire bag forward.

Untitled design (1).mp4 The club themselves look really nice, just like my dad’s. The cavity back design is cool, and I like having clubs that look just like adult clubs. My dad took a few practice swings and tells me that they felt good when he hit them in the center of the club face (eventually). Once I do a little practice and get back into the swing of things (pun intended, never too young for wordplay), I really want to test these clubs (which are maybe a little big for me) against my old clubs (which are a little small for me) to see if I can hit them farther. Stay tuned for some on-course testing and results soon!
    Final Review

    Aesthetics (18 out of 20)
I’ve learned that something looking “cool” is just as important, if not more so, than how it actually functions for kids. And since our main interest at this age is making golf fun and enjoyable and creating an environment in which they choose to play it among the bevy of athletic options they have, something that is designed with kids’ interests in mind is very helpful. In that regard, the camo-type bag pattern with bright color accents is great.

The shiny chrome catches their attention, and the cavity-back pattern on the irons bridges the gap between club as toys and clubs as serious athletic instruments. These clubs had Max wanting to pick them up, strap them on his back, and hit the course.

The Numbers (10 out of 20)
We have a SkyTrak (OG) that we use to hit off a mat into a net in the garage. While the SkyTrak is solid, I’m not fully bought into its accuracy for low swing speeds, especially as the turf interaction from the mat likely impacts a low-swing-speed swing more than an average adult swing speed.

PXL_20240810_161317664.mp4 Testing Max’s old iron (no loft information available) against the Lynx Ai 7-iron (also no loft information available) on the SkyTrak shows marginal gains in ball speed, and marginal decreases in launch angle and spin using the Lynx Ai iron. The result was a marginal increase in distance. This could be solely due to the club possibly being a lower loft.
Short game and putting seemed to be a strength of these clubs. Using our BirdieBall putting mat, some indoor testing implied them these clubs outperformed Max’s old putter from medium range, as Max sank significantly more putts from this range with the Lynx Ai putter. Both the old and new putters performed similarly from short and long range. But medium range seems to be where most people have the most opportunity for improvement, so this was good.

PXL_20240807_003920451.LS.mp4 On The Course (13 out of 20)
On the course, I couldn’t convince Max to hit the driver. It was just too big for him, being at the bottom end of the height range for this set. He used his old set’s driver, which was actually similar to the Lynx Ai set’s hybrid in size and loft.
The hybrid proved a difficult club to hit. I don’t think Max really had any on-course strikes with the hybrid that really got airborne. This seems to be similar to most folks trying to hit a 3-wood off the deck. I would question the need for kids this age/height to use a hybrid club at all, instead of just focusing on their irons. And since they hit it shorter and thus have less dispersion, they tend to find themselves in fewer “rescue” situations than us adults!

I noticed something with the putter. It has an alignment line on the top which goes across both the top edge of the head, as well as the bottom part of the blade. The result is that, unless you hold the club at the exact right angle—which seemed steep to me—that the two lines will not match up, which may be worse than no line at all.

The irons, however, really shined on the course. Max struck both the 7-iron and 9-iron significantly better than his old set’s iron. Having two options for different distances allowed him to pick the right club and then use full swings (since realistically he doesn’t have another swing he practices). Both clubs launched higher and landed softer than his old iron. By the end of his third round, I decided to move his tee distance back 20 yards because he had become so adept at using the irons to approach the green. It also brought the element of decision making into the gameplay equation, forcing Max to think about what club his situation warranted, making the game feel more like “real” golf as opposed to a pitch-and-putt.

    PXL_20240830_200910949.mp4
The Good, the bad, the in between (8 out of 10)
It’s hard to find a perfect “Goldilocks” set of golf clubs for kids since they are, by nature, going to need to fit a range of kids (height, ability, strength, etc.). Heck, our kids likely grew from the time we gave their heights until the end of the testing period!
The stand bag has an odd divider design, which seems to lead to club grips rubbing when being pulled and the bag collapsing as a result. This seems to be a case of edgy style taken too far to the point where it negatively impacts performance. In fact, Max’s #1 piece of feedback was how hard it was to get the clubs out of the bag.

Untitled design (1).mp4 As probably with all clubs, the number one thing that matters is, can you put a good strike on the ball? I have not seen that there is any technology in these clubs or any kids’ clubs that will otherwise appreciably change the result of a strike. Having clubs that kids feel comfortable with—that feel good in their hands, that are light and easy to swing, and that make them feel cool and capable—is probably the best thing to help them strike the ball well. Most of the rest is probably noise.

PXL_20240830_205742779.mp4 Play it or Trade it? (18 out of 20)
We will absolutely keep these clubs. The fact that the driver and, to a lesser extent, the hybrid did not see extensive use is fine, because they give Max something to grow into over the course of the next year (or two). I find it doubtful that you will get better performance in a set of youth clubs unless they’re custom built.
The list price seems reasonable, although I would suggest that it would make sense to cut out a club for this age group (perhaps include a 3 wood—which another Lynx Ai set comes with—in place of the too-big driver and the hard-to-hit hybrid) and knock a few bucks off the price.
    Conclusion
The Lynx Ai youth golf clubs are attractive enough to pique a child’s interest in golf, and functional enough to meet the average child’s needs on the course. They seem to function only marginally better than Max’s previous kids’ golf clubs. That said, the vast majority of young golfers will likely not strike the ball well enough to be able to discern any meaningful performance differences between clubs. All around, the clubs seem about “average” with some high points and some low points, and this is reflected in the overall score. The most important thing at this age is that the clubs make the game fun, both through aesthetics and comfort, so that the kids keep coming back. The Lynx Ai youth golf clubs accomplish this goal admirably.
Final Score: 76 out of 100

Lynx Ai Junior Golf Set for Ages 5-7 (Kids 45-48" Tall) Blue – Official MGS Forum Review by Liam Lydon

    Intro
Hi everyone! My name is Liam Lydon, I am 6 years old and live just outside of Philadelphia. I am 46" and I am super excited to be testing the Lynx Ai 5 Club Junior Golf Set for Ages 5-7. I have been going golfing with my Dad since I was three, where I spent most of the time eating my snacks and riding the cart. Golf is one of my favorite things to do with my Dad, my favorite golfing memory was playing glow golf in my back yard for my birthday.

Outside of golf my favorite things to do are play wiffleball and soccer with my older brother Ian, jump on our moon bounce. I also enjoy fishing during the summers.
    Testing
What I am most excited for about the testing is thta my Dad told me we will get to go play the big guy course more, I am also looking forward to getting a new driver since my old one is too small for me now. I will be doing my testing at a few places:
    1. My backyard- my Dad said he will cut it into a chip and putt again.
    2. Skramble House KOP the indoor simulator.
    3. Big guy course(The Club at Shannondell -  Audubon, PA)
I am excited to get my new clubs, I am hoping to get the 5 club set so I can have a 7 iron and hybrid like my Dad. Thank you MyGolfSpy Forum and All Kids Golf for letting me be a tester like my Dad.

    Unboxing and First Impressions:

My first thoughts when I got my new clubs was "YAY! I GOT THE 5 CLUB SET DAD"

I was so excited that I got the 5 club set and then my Dad made me wait to open he said he needed some pictures first so I kept reading all the new clubs I got on the side of the box.

When I finally got to open the box I was really excited that I had club covers on my hybrid and driver just like my Dad, my old clubs did not have those when we bought them my Dad said the small fabric ones were just to protect the clubs when they ship and I could get rid of those, something about not needing iron covers

The first club I grabbed was my driver and what I loved most was it has the same pattern (my Dad said carbon fiber) that my Dad has on his driver. This driver is longer than my old one but I can swing it faster already so I know I can hit bombs with it. My Dad let me play with it for awhile before he took his pictures, I think he knew I was excited.
The next club I got was my 4 Hybrid and I haven't had a hybrid before so I was really excited to get a new club, my dad said it should help me get the ball up higher and go further so I can't wait to test it out, he said I can't use this one outback but we can play in the garage tonight.

This one also looked just like my Dad's and it has a cover like his too. The clubs all seem to be lighter than my old ones to I think I'll be able to swing them faster.
Before my Dad could get pictures of my 7 iron and PW I snuck out back to try them out with my brother.

So far I absolutely love my new clubs and plan to play with them everyday. Thank you again for the opportunity.

Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club Set from All Kids Golf Review By Addison Boland
My name is Addison, I am 9 years old and going into the 4th grade.  I have been playing golf with my dad and papa for about 3 years.   I live in Bakersfield, CA, and am currently on vacation in Ogden, UT.  I will update this post when we get home.  Thanks to MyGolfSpy for the opportunity to test these clubs.

We returned home last night and I wanted to get into my box to see my new clubs.  My dad said I have to wait until he gets home from work today.  Sometimes he can be such a meanie.
While on vacation we went fishing, I finally caught my first fish!  It was so exciting!  The shirt I am wearing is from the Willy Wonka Jr. play I was in earlier this month.  I was also in a Wizard of Oz play this year at my school.

My dad, papa and I used to go to a little 3 hole course that had near us, unfortunately they removed that so we mainly just hit range balls or into my dads net in the back yard.   My first set of clubs my dad got me I had outgrown, my dad had got me some old clubs he had to use until I could get a new set.  So happy for this that I have a new set that will fit me.
Looking forward to opening that box tonight and hitting some balls this weekend.
Unboxing and First Impressions:  19 out of 20

My dad finally let me open my box, hope you all enjoyed the little happy dance.

I was very excited to get my new clubs.  The clubs were much prettier than the ones I am currently using.  They came with an actual driver, that thing is so big compared to what I am used to.  I did notice that the clubs were shorter than the ones I am currently using.  I grew out of my first set and have been using an old set my dad had in the garage, was mixed in with the many bags of clubs he has out there.  I think these clubs be a better fit for me than my current set.

I also got a very fancy looking bag to go with the clubs.  It seems to be sturdy, and the stand works very well.

I am hoping to get out to the golf course with my dad soon to try these out.  Hopefully we will be able to make it out to the course this weekend.  So far, I have only hit them into the net in our backyard.  One day we had to cut it short because I got chased by a bee.  I really don’t like bees.

    Final Review:

    Aesthetics:  18 out of 20
I really like how shiny the clubs are and think the camouflage design on the bag is pretty cool.  I did however have an issue with the bag.  I had my dad adjust the straps multiple time but every time he did the clubs would weigh down and start sliding out of the bag.  I finally made him carry it for me.  It was not a big deal because we usually ride in a cart.  He said he would try and adjust the straps more when we were at home before next time we went out the golf course.
Also, I was not crazy about the color green on the clubs.  Again not a big deal but green is just not one of my favorite colors.  (being a girl that’s somewhat important)

The Numbers:  19 out of 20
I don’t have much data on my swing, Dad did bring out the launch monitor on one day and it said that I hit my 7 iron 87 yards, which is pretty good for me.  Also, my Smash Factor was 1.23 (whatever that means)
I really like the irons and feel they are easier to hit than my old set of Nitros.  I definitely hit the ball further and have an easier time trying to get the ball in the air.   That is except for the driver, more about that later on in the review.

20240902_104003.mp4   On the Course:  19 out of 20
Playing out on the course I feel I have improved with the Lynx Ai clubs.  Even though I still have not figured out the driver, the hybrid off the tee has really helped me enjoy the round.  I also think that playing and practicing more has helped me improve my game.   With the Lynx Ai irons I am getting the ball up in the air more consistently and getting closer to the green where I can use my sand wedge and most of the time I am able to get that club on the green.  I have also came really close to making some long putts, my short puts still need some work but my distance control and keeping the ball online have improved greatly with the Lynx Ai putter.

The Good, The Bad, the In Between:  19 out of 20
The good here far outweighs the bad.  I am hitting the Lynx Ai clubs much better than my old Nitro clubs and I am enjoying going out with my dad and playing golf even more than I did before.
The only real bad here is the driver.  It is probably not so much the driver itself I just can’t hit it very well.  It just seems harder for me to swing than the other clubs.  It seems heavy to me and my dad thinks its just too long for me right now.
Maybe soon I will be able to hit the driver well but for now I am really enjoying hitting the hybrid off the tee.

20240902_100743.mp4   Play It or Trade It:  20 out of 20
Will definitely play it!  I have been having so much more fun with the Lynx Ai clubs than I have had before.  Nobody is taking my hybrid from me, lol.   Hopefully I will be able to hit the driver before I grow out of this set and need another.   Since the weather should be cooling off soon I hope to get out to the golf course with my dad much more than before.

    Conclusion
I am really happy with my Lynx Ai golf clubs.  Other than the driver the clubs are shorter than my old set, that just goes to show you the right size of clubs makes a big difference.  I have been hitting the ball farther and it has been much easier for me to get the ball in the air more consistently.  I really appreciate the opportunity and give thanks to All Kids Golf for allowing me to have so much fun with my Dad and improving my enjoyment of the game.

I purchased some Taylormade P790s and spent about a grand on them.  They were wonderful clubs, loved everything about them... but I'm a 20 handicap golfer and ultimately realized the clubs will never solve anything.  Sold them after a neck injury had me questioning if golf was ever going to be in the cards again.  Ended up getting the neck to a manageable point and bought some old used PING G2 (?) Irons for 100$ and regripped them. I could still compete with my golf buddies that are equally as poor of golfers and I really liked them for what they were.
Lesson learned - it's not what's in the bag that matters.  After being taken away from the game due to another injury - I would take the crappiest golf clubs out there to play again right now.  Glad I have my children to live vicariously through now 😁.  It's fun to watch them go through all the emotions golf puts you through.  It's a silly game but can teach you a lot of valuable life lessons if you let it.

Tom the Golf Nut checking in.
First a special thank you to Vice Golf for affording this opportunity for testing. PS: I really like the Vice Logo. Total class right there. Thank you, MGS Forum Staff, for selecting me for testing, and the MGS logo is also top notch.
I have a supportive family that lets me indulge in my passion. We live in middle South Carolina between Pinehurst and Myrtle Beach so golfing opportunities are abundant. Of my three children, two are still home, with my youngest about to enter her senior year of college. My son and daughter (when she is not away at school) work at my golf club and if things work out my wife will work there as well someday. I was just elected to the board of directors for the club, so it is turning into a family affair. I can’t sneak out to get away from the family when they all work there. LOL
Family fun time with my wife, son, daughter (front) and my son’s girlfriend.

I am pretty much a self-taught golfer and have been playing for over thirty-five years. I never stop building things or tinkering on golf related stuff to help improve my game.  I build most things at home. I’m the son of a carpenter and I was a machinist then an engineer in my early days. If I can dream it I can build it.  My biggest improvements in my game came from installing my simulator in conjunction with a MEVO several years ago. I got to see my swing path and ball flight info from the comfort of home. Which will come in handy for testing. I play a decent amount of golf. At least twice a week at my club, playing with customers when I’m on the road, as well as golf outings for charities. I am able to play year-round in my area of the country.
My GHIN handicap is currently 0.5, I have a mid-ball flight and a one hop and stop on the greens. I enjoy playing and do not get upset with a bad shot. Swing tempo is smooth with an average driver swing speed in the mid to upper 90’s. My average ball flight is straight with a middle flight trajectory. I am hoping to increase my iron trajectory a little bit more. Switching to graphite shafts in my irons has helped already. My strengths are finding the fairway with my drive and my short game.

I moved here about a year and a half ago and the courses are generally very different here than my hilly and mountainous courses of Northeast TN. Here it is flatter but requires more placement shots. Being in the sand belt region we have much softer fairways and approach areas (No bounce and roll out here) Lots of dog legs, streams, and waste areas that come into play. The rough is very playable but anything past that is in pine straw or unplayable.
So, what do I want to accomplish during this test?
I am hoping to gain a little more forgiveness with these irons. The King Tour's I was using last year has little room for error and I’m a decent ball striker. I have actually been moving them out of the bag one at a time and putting in my older irons which were a DTC brand. I plan on evaluating the data, and my on-course play. On course is where it matters most. If I can get a little more forgiveness on slightly off-center hits, maintain accuracy, and potentially get a little more ball height these will stay in the bag. A little more distance wouldn’t hurt either, but I don’t want to sound greedy. I have seen a lot of good things come from the direct-to-consumer brands and am looking forward to seeing what these clubs can do.

    The Clubs:
I have been selected to test the VGI 01’s. Vice golf is getting with the times right off the bat with different head color trims, shaft, ferrule, and grip color options. So now we get the opportunity to customize the look. Make it yours.
I had my fitting this morning which was very pleasant and informative. I was probably the easiest to fit as I knew all my specs from previous fittings. After discussions with their team and Jamie on the call as well we decided to keep the same shaft weights, flex, lie angles, and length that I was already fit into.  Then it came to making them mine in terms of colors.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. I went with the red trim which has the club numbers in red as well. I also selected a Whiz Graphite 60g Mitsubishi black shaft.

I added a black ferrule and went with the red Vice Mid-size grip. I was tempted to go with the gray but a little color in my life would be good. I wasn’t sure if they would be a distraction to me.

I have been a fan of the GP CP2 Pro for years now. We will see how these grips go, but I have a set of the CP 2’s waiting in the wings if needed.
Clubs are on order and now comes the hard part. Waiting for delivery. I'm sure everything will go according to plan. I'm super excited to test these out. The Vice team is top notch. They even asked for periodic check ins with the team to see if I have any issues, concerns, comments, and just to see how I like them. I'll be honest this is the first time a manufacturer really cared about the product and my relationship with the product once it shipped. They get a five-star rating on a scale of 1 to 5⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐
    Thinking about the testing:
I compared the lofts from my other sets of irons and there isn’t much difference. So really all in all they should compare quite nicely. With the scoring clubs a little weaker they should give me a little more height and stopping power. But we will find out. That’s what the testing is all about right.
    The actual lofts are:

I’m interested in the sound and feel. Since these are hollow body and not filled with foam or neoprene, will they sound pingy, dull, or crisp? Without the fill material the clubs should have a little more rebound in the face as well.
    Key characteristic claims:
Developed with insights from millions of data sets from normal golfers; An Iron Set that delivers forgiveness without compromising on performance.
    - Triple forged head + milled finish
    ·      Lighter head weight design to increase swing speed and improve shaft-head-balance
    ·      Low offset and thin topline with increased face length for improved forgiveness
    ·      2-piece hollow body construction to create one of the hottest faces in golf
I like to start my testing from the green and work backwards just like I would test a ball. Chipping, pitching, then move back to full shots and then longer irons. The chipping part will be a little harder to test. Most of my chipping is with a Gap Wedge and this set stops at the PW. I’m going to work on using the PW from now until the Vice clubs arrive. My goal is 10 shots per task and remove any outliers. I will use the Mevo to gather the data once I get into the full shots. Data is great for those data junkies out there but I’m more of a performance in the field kind of guy. Hitting off a mat in the simulator or at the range is different than playing conditions. How will these perform out of the rough, tight lies, normal lies, divots, and so on.
I will set up certain distances and hit into a green doing some head-to-head testing with a few different clubs. Distance variance, trajectory, and dispersion will be what I’m looking for. Then try off of different type of lies. (rough, tight lies, wet grass)
We did get notified that our orders are getting ready to ship. So, the excitement is escalating.

The clubs have arrived and here is a little unboxing for your viewing pleasure.

    FINAL REVIEW
    Vice VGI01 Irons
I spent a couple of days collecting data comparing sets against each other. I checked the lofts between sets, and they were similar, so I wasn’t worried about not knowing distances. I used a Flight Scope MEVO and my simulator to gather inside data. I tried for weeks to get data outside at my range but rain, more rain, and a hurricane caused flooding at the course closing the range. So, all that was left was on course play. I headed to the golf course with my new weapons.
I was playing the Sub 70 699 Pro’s for a few years with great results. Last season I gamed the Cobra King Tours. I’m not knocking the King Tours; they played well but there was little margin for error. The sweet spot was small and missing it I lost too much yardage. So midway through the season I had a split set. Then by the end of the season all that was left in the bag was the Gap Wedge.
I needed to get back to hitting perfectly straight, towering shots that would land softly at the target. Now with the Vice Irons in the bag and high hopes in my back pocket we were off to the proving grounds. The clubs on course performance started out well and never gave me cause for concern. Within the first few rounds I realized that I could just aim at the pin and fire away. My ball flight was higher and there was pretty much a one hop and stop. I also used the Vice Pro Air ball during play. I also would bring along an iron from my other sets to compare. Luckily, I’m allowed out on the course before the public, so I didn’t hold anyone up.
Round after round the performance factor was what I was looking for. The VGI01’s actually delivered more than I hoped for.
    Grading:
    Looks 9 out of 10
Such a good-looking club with a satin finish. Not the chunky cavity backs with thick top lines you generally see. As a matter of fact, they are the thinnest top lines I have ever seen, and minimal clubface offset. A little intimidating a first look (-1 point). But all the lines are clean, and head shape is very good looking behind the ball. You also get the added feature of customizing your color details on the club head.
Look at that thin top line.

    Feel 10 out of 10
You can feel off center hits, but the ball still goes on its target line with minimal distance loss and center strikes just go where you aimed effortlessly. The clubs feel very stable during impact, minimal twisting on off center hits. You do get good feedback upon impact. But on perfect strikes you hardly feel anything. So, you immediately know it was a pure strike. The club feels very well balanced in hand and during the swing. These are very light club heads so a lighter weight shaft will help you feel the club head more. The combined light weight automatically increased my swing speed.
Basic Characteristics 20 out of 20
Trajectory is just under a high trajectory category with the Mitsubishi Wiz 60 shafts. This was exactly what I was looking for help with. I needed a little more height. Accuracy is spot on. It goes where you aim it. The trajectory and added swing speed increase distance by a full club. The landing of the ball was for the most part a hop and stop or just land and sit. The manufacturer claims that the low COG gives you high MOI. This is supposed to provide optimal ball flight and increased stability on off –center hits. Their claims are spot on regardless of the club selected. I was totally comfortable pin hunting with these irons. These clubs also sound very good.
    On-Course Performance 30 out of 30
My proximity to the pin has decreased. Trajectory has improved. All these factors are exactly what I had hoped to achieve. Truthfully, I was not sure what a company new to club manufacturing could produce right out of the gate, but I am impressed. The results speak for themselves. Right out of the box and onto the course there was no adjustment period required. If you close or open the face a bit the ball will draw or fade. I wipe my club face after each shot before putting them back in the bag. I noticed rather quickly that I am in the center of the clubface consistently and a couple grooves higher compared to my previous gamers.
So many of these types of approaches already.

    Miscellaneous 8 out of 10
Packaging was superior, it was a box in a box so even though the outside box was slightly damaged the inside box was just fine. Plenty of protection inside the box as well. They also sent two dozen Vice Pro Air balls and a Vice Glove. Due to the demand of these clubs, they sent an email about being sorry for the shipping delay and gave me another free dozen balls. That was a nice gesture considering the clubs arrived right on time. Serious customer service.  I’m deducting a point here because the back sides of the club face will show bag chatter very easily. Another point for the grips. I went with the red grips to match the red details on the clubface. My rounds have left me with a pink hue on my golf glove. I’m sure that will stop over time.
Play it or trade it 20 out of 20
Even though we are still in the honeymoon stage these have earned a spot in the bag. Everything that I was looking to achieve has been delivered in the form of the VGI01 irons. The clubs were built to my specs, and they are spot on. I have been able to put myself in better position on the greens since putting them in play. I have already shot my career low round with an amazing 63 which beat my low by 4 strokes. Several other rounds in the 60’s as well. Granted my driver was spot on, but the VGI01 irons are what put me in position on the greens. Well done Vice. Looks, design, and performance!
    Conclusion
If playing a big brand name is not important to you and if you are looking for a club that performs then this club is for you. Comparing the major manufactures pricing for clubs in this category, the Vice line of clubs has a very attractive price point and definitely worth consideration. They are less than the big brands but a little higher than the other DTC brands. For the performance you get it is well worth looking into.
The VGI01’s are a forged players iron but with forgiveness. I feel it is best suited for a person in the five to fifteen handicap range. Even though my handicap is lower these irons are working out very well for me. There is that extra bit of forgiveness built into these clubs. My proximity to the pin is less. My ball flight is higher than what it was, and there is some distance gain.
Final Score 97 out of 100

Sub 70 is no stranger to MyGolfSpy Forum testing. We have featured their products in several testing opportunities over the years. For 2024, we have a special product that we are excited to bring to our membership: the Sub 70 Pro V2 Fairway Woods.
About The Pro V2 Fairway Woods
This fairway wood from Sub 70 is their newest wood release and is packed with technology. It features their Dual Face Technology, which has two separate faces filled with a TPE resin in between. The forward face has variable face thickness to help increase ball speeds across the face and increase distance for golfers.
The Pro V2 also features a dual weight system for ball flight, swing weight, and MOI adjustability, as well as a carbon fiber crown. Standard weights feature a 2-gram front weight and a 9-gram rear weight, with extra weight options available.
As there is no adjustable sleeve featured on the Pro V2, it is offered in three lofts from 15 to 21 degrees (or 3-wood to 7-wood).
Sub 70 claims the Pro V2 is the ultimate in power and workability, which is where you come in.
Please welcome and congratulate our testers.

did this one last winter in my garage, with the space I had at the time I could only do 8x8. But it works well .. I added padding to it but just not shown in the picture, I got the screen at rain or shine golf, bought the pipes from Home Depot and the connectors from Amazon, I had the hitting mat and I added the putting green carpet from Home Depot, with the padding it was prob $1,000 ish and then the skytrak was $1,600 used.

Golf_family_608 reacted to RobS in Puttr Indoor AI Putting Mat
Yeah, my bad for never coming back and posting.  I like it but don't love it.  But I think some of my issues are more related to the location I have it set up than the Puttr itself.  I have it in my finished basement, but am unable to get it perfectly level.  I can get the base level using the feet adjustment, but the mat always has a slight left to right break.  It's subtle, but it makes the lab app less appealing, as I know I'm not hitting it perfectly straight even if the lab reports that I'm hitting it in the exact center of the cup.
The incline of the base seems too steep to be replicating a putt that is supposed to have a 2' past-the-hole speed.  The break putting from the right or left side of the mat is a little weird as well.  The biggest issue I've run into is the app only supports a single profile, so if you have someone else in your house that uses the Puttr, they need to log you off and log in with their own account.  This becomes even more of a hassle when you have guests who want to try it out but you don't want your stats to be impacted, so you have to have a 3rd account to use.  It would be nice if you could just select a profile when starting the app.
I found having the iPad sitting on the base of the unit a bit restricting, as you have to bend over to reach the iPad every time you interact with it, which is quite often on some of the games.  The Puttr does not include any type of mount for the iPad on top of the box, so you have to supply it yourself.  I ended up mounting an iPad on the wall higher up behind the unit, which works pretty well.  The games are fun, but not as addicting as I was hoping to get me to practice putting for hours at a time.  I do have a full golf sim next to where the Puttr is set up, so that always seems to pull me away after a while.  My wife and daughter, whom both golf, used the Puttr quite a bit when I first got it, but their usage declined dramatically after the first couple of weeks.
I also have an original Exputt, which I like a little better. It shows your putter path and other technical information on your putting stroke. The perfect combination would be a Puttr and Exputt combined... which may be something I'll try to put together once outdoor golf season finishes up this year.

Golf_family_608 reacted to cksurfdude in My Take: Ship Sticks vs checked baggage.
    Unofficial forum member review.
Just my thoughts on using their service; not a comparative test vs any competitors.

OK, you've likely seen the TV ads - beautiful people in a beautiful sunny, warm location playing effortless, stick it close, club twirl kinda golf .. imagery designed to lead you into a daydream of 'wow if I used Ship Sticks then I could play like that!'...

No. Ship Sticks can not make your golf game better.
But otoh - using the service can make travel to or from your golf destination much easier. And if you arrive a little more rested, well who knows? Read on...

    A few Pros & Cons...
+ convenient, call it, hands-free travel
+ bulk shipping rate cheaper than retail
+ real time tracking and email updates
+ for only $4.99 more (that add-on cost may vary depending on location) they'll come right to your house to pick up or deliver your travel case
+ $1,000 insurance included; can add more coverage
+ can ship to/from a club or resort golf pro shop
    .. but vs...
    - extra cost over checked bag fee
    - loss of use of clubs for a few days
    - at the mercy of the shipping carrier (usually FedEx) and yeah once in a while stuff does get waylaid or even lost

(never heard what the "Exception" was all about, but it cleared out the next day - as Ship Sticks says prominently on their site 'allow an extra day before arrival')

Cost examples from the Ship Sticks website...
.. from Huntington, NY to the pro shop at Royal New Kent, VA
.. note these are the full prices, not after a promo code or discount
    1. Standard 42 pounds (total shipping weight)

    2. XL 56 pounds

    For reference:
my hard case is about 15 pounds (prefer this when flying); a Club Glider is about 12-13 pounds (plus add another pound for a Stiff Arm); my loaded carry bag is close to 25 pounds (14 clubs with head covers, torque wrench, gloves, tees, towel, sunglasses, rain jacket, and just a few golf balls in the ball pocket). So Standard would clearly work, but for this trip I opted for XL so I could load a lot of extra stuff - including extra golf balls! - into the case for the trip down.

(yeah there's a lotta extra stuff in there!)

Cost Example based on the above:
Say I have a -15% discount and choose...
    .. XL + Ground + $2,000 insurance + Pick-Up at my location
.. all that comes out to approx $72.50 + tax, or
.. say like $40ish bucks more over a checked bag at $35

--> Worth it? Or not? ..what do you think?

    * Notes on cost example...
XL: This let me throw in almost 4 dozen golf balls, 2 pairs of golf shoes, my back roller (goes everywhere with me!), a 1 lb bag of coffee (gotta have real coffee in the mornings!), rain pants (have not used them yet but ya never know), beach towel (I like to put it on the riding cart seat), extra hats, etc.
Ground: I have a half set of practice clubs (driver, 4h, 7i, PW, SW, LW, putter) I take to the range and am happy to play an occasional round with.
Insurance: no $2k won't fully cover the replacement cost.
Pick-Up: while there's a drop-off location only about two miles from my house for another $4.99 all I have to do is roll the case out to the front door on the morning of pick-up day.
Also - if you look closely at this example it's not a one-for-one upgrade - for 1/3rd (33%) more weight you'll pay +40% more $. So in this example it's more cost effective to stick with the Standard size (Std @ $1.19/lb vs XL @ $1.25/lb). If you use the service then, of course, you need to decide what price point is right for you.

(waiting calmly for the nice FedEx Dude)

So I look at the cost-benefit decisions as...
    (a) 'how much over the $35 checked bag fee .. which I'd have to pay anyway .. is the ease and convenience worth to me?'
    .. along with,
    (b) 'how much extra do I want to pack into the case .. and how quickly do I need it there?'

    A note about DIY...
You should always check and compare shipping prices but one of the benefits of Ship Sticks is you get a negotiated bulk - aka lower - rate vs bringing your loaded case, or packed large cardboard box, into a FedEx or UPS store yourself. You can lookup rate quotes on their respective websites.
If you do go this route, not sure exactly why but I've found that paying online and printing a shipping label at home can save a few $ vs paying at the store counter (please note - if you try to understate the weight or size to get a cheaper rate they can either charge you more or refuse to take your item).
USPS Ground Advantage is often the cheapest way to ship packages, but .. as size + weight + distance go up so does the price. Quickly, too. Arrival date not guaranteed so you would need to ship out extra early.
For more info go to... https://www.usps.com/ship/ground-advantage.htm

    A Few Use Cases For...
+ Day 1 of the MGS Kingsmill Outing - early morning flight out of NY connecting in Philly to a partner regional carrier .. land at Terminal A and depart from Terminal F .. then arrive at Richmond and while a relatively easy walk (for a large airport) from the arrival gate to the rental car desk and on to the rental car, with just a carry-on backpack I could bypass baggage claim and get on my way. Arrive midday at Royal New Kent .. walk in to the pro shop and see my travel case sitting there.
+ Last day of (up-coming in July) Nebraska Outing - someone else is picking me up and driving, and then dropping me back off late Sunday .. most likely well after the last scheduled flight out so I'm staying over at an airport hotel and booked a flight for early Monday morning. To make it easier on myself and importantly more convenient for my hospitable host/chauffeur 😉 .. I can pack the travel case after the Sunday round and just leave it with the pro shop there for pickup/transport home.
+ You know the destination airport is a real PITA to get out of .. e.g. busy, crowded, poorly designed and congested walkways with 90 degree turns, escalators/stairs which force you to hunt for the elevator, etc.; or maybe to get to your ground transpo is another hike with crossing lanes of traffic; or maybe you have to take a shuttle to a rental car and heft your travel case up and down the steps (and that first step is often a big step up).

    A Few Use Cases Against...
    - extra cost over a checked bag fee is a factor; or you've booked a ticket with a price that includes a checked bag (e.g. you accumulate points on an airline or other travel card and use them to upgrade your seat)
    - you don't like being without your clubs right before, or right after, your trip
    - you're flying direct/non-stop on a major carrier you know and trust; you're familiar with the airports on both ends and know they're easy to (haha) roll in and out of
    - international travel .. can get stoopit expensive to ship

    >> UPDATE ON INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL <<
Linking in a post from further by @funkyjudge with some good info...

    Other Random Tips...
    - highly recommend either a Club Glider or a hard case with four spinner wheels on the bottom, as both roll very easily and will make your travel life much, much easier!
    - imho avoid soft travel cases with only two wheels that put a lot of weight on your arm/shoulder .. which you're not gonna want either before nor after a golf trip of multiple rounds over multiple days
    - use a "stiff arm" with all soft cases; also remove driver and fairway heads (put 'em back in the headcovers and stick 'em in the pockets of your golf bag - and don't forget to throw the wrench in!)
    - get a luggage scale to check your loaded travel bag/case is within the weight limit
    - get an Air Tag, Tile or similar RFID chip and put it in your golf bag
    - also on packing a soft case: use towels or clothes or bubble wrap or a foam sheet, etc to wrap around your golf bag, inside the travel case, to help protect all the shafts from compression damage (e.g. other luggage dropped on top of your clubs)
    - use a hang tag enclosed in clear plastic and zip ties to secure it to your travel case

    Bottom Line...
For me - 68 this year, short and scrawny with a bad back yet also in the very fortunate position to be able to spend extra money on conveniences like this - so for me it can be well worth it in the types of "For" travel circumstances described above.

We do everything we can to be as forthcoming and transparent to make everyone who really wants to be a tester easier.
It's not hard, but paying attention and actually reading versus just sign up and hope goes a long way.

Figured it was time for another post here - So I don't think it is a surprise, but we do reach out to our testers in advance to get some information and make sure they are ready for testing. We have had plenty back out after reading realizing it is just a bit too much to take on. Here is what it looks like though.
Sometimes this is tweaked and we have order sheets built in and maybe the other odd change here and there, but if you are selected you will be one of the lucky few to get this message.

Congrats everyone on being selected for the Member Test. We are very excited to have you as our testers and are looking forward to assisting you through the review process and be here to answer any questions you may have along the way.
That being said, we have some housekeeping to take care of first. To start we need to inform you that throughout this process we are your point of contact not the OEM or their Customer Service. As these tests are run by MGS Forum they will not be able to help you. Any questions or concerns should be addressed to us and we can follow up from there. DO NOT CONTACT CS!
In order for us to get started we also require a few things from you as soon as possible. The first being your acceptance of the terms and conditions of a MGS Forum Review.
First is completion of this form: Terms and Conditions Form Link
    - Completion of a full and thorough review of the product received at the required date. - Requirement of regular updates (min once per week) while the test is in progress. Expectations for this test are MUCH HIGHER! - Must follow the testing thread, in order to receive new notifications of the test - if you do not know how to do this a mod can do this for you. - Incompletion of a review or not meeting requirements is cause for forfeiture of the product at the testers expense back to HQ or supplier. - Absolutely no selling or resale of this product for at a minimum of 2 years (or two product cycles). Gifting, passing along for others to test is okay and recommended if the product does not suit you. - The completion time for this test will be 4-6 weeks from when the product is received. We will determine the exact date shortly, if you do not feel you will be able to complete the review in this time please let us know. Failing to meet these requirements will also hold back future testing opportunities. Please place consideration into your next month plus (vacations, season availability or other) to ensure that you have the adequate time and consideration to provide not only a full review, but continued follow up during this time.
Of course there are circumstances where exceptions can be made. Family, illness and more, but please be upfront with the Mod team so we can best guide you on how to proceed and what are the best steps forward for the team, community and OEMs which provided the product.
It may sound a bit harsh, or upfront, however better to have the expectations known. Hopefully this will help crackdown on any no shows although we didn't have many.
If the answer is No, do not worry at all. We understand that not all tests are for everyone so please let us know asap and we can select a new tester for the opportunity.
Keep in mind upon completion of the test the whole review and participation is graded. This helps and assists us in selections for future testing opportunities. Which is another reason why if you don’t feel you are able to complete a good full review on this opportunity it is better to let us know now as the grade will either help or hurt you future MGS testing opportunities.
Our expectations for participation level is sky high for this testing opportunity. I personally would expect a minimum of 50 posts within this thread throughout the testing opportunity per tester. (Just look at TItleist and most the testers had 80 plus).
Once everyone has accepted the terms and conditions I will reach out and send you a form to fill out to complete the order.
    Thank you

PS - This was a lot to read, so I would recommend going back to the top and re-reading it before responding!
