Camaraderie on the tee box is wildly overrated, in my opinion. In fact people that start telling a story on the tee box so everyone else has to stop and wait to hit until the story is over is a further contributor to slow play, save that for the 19th hole.

Now this is something you don't see mentioned alot.
I've done this a couple of times for FUN rounds.
Front tees, I let them drive, scope the longest one, and use a club that somewhat matches that distance.  It keeps everyone together-ish.

Valid points, but is playing from the wrong tees what's really slowing up the game?
How about opening up the course and making it easier to play?
How about greens that are easier to hit, easier to hold, and easier to putt?
At least two-thirds of the courses I've seen
could have used more explosives and more heavy machinery
at the beginning phases of their construction.
    More than two-thirds.  Three-quarters.
If you want to get people through a round a little faster,
give them a course they can play.
Forward tees just don't cut it in my view, anyway.

This reminds me, Also a good idea to record yourself on the range. Feel and Real are often two different things when you are working on a swing change.

Unboxing will be coming soon, but started messing around with the Rapsodo this evening.
Had to charge the unit overnight (says it can take up to 4 hours), but it was ready to go today.  Turned it on and started setting it up…no issues at all.
Put in all my clubs, a little impressed that Rapsodo had my irons (circa 2011) listed in the system!
I did have to do a firmware update, which did take a little bit of time.
Just clicking through some of the features, looks like the Rapsodo will work with Titleist Pro V1/V1x in the near future!

I got mine last month. I absolutely love it.  Easy to use and quickly set up.
I use a 8” portable net I keep on the side of my yard.  I pull it over to a flat spot when using (i dont want to leave it there and burn the grass!!)
I purchased 5x5 mat and drag it onto the edge of my patio.

I have been using it about 2-3 times a week.  Since then i dropped my HC by almost 2 and tied my career low.

I have heard of connection complaints.  There are two ways to connect..one is basically bluetooth directly to mlm2 from your phone or ipad.  Other is using wifi. If i have any problems connecting it is always because im too far from my router.   (When you play courses you need the wifi, other options you dont).
Upon completion of your session, when back in wifi, the Mlm2 uploads session to r-cloud where you can review you shots and watch each swing.
     Game changing..especially for the $$!!

My point was simply that people tend to over exaggerate the idea of keeping the head still.  This can be a negative.  People also say they lift their head when they don’t.

I’ll counter with Sorenstam, Duvall, and Stenson.  Keeping the head down like you describe can also be a negative.

Yes what he said! Don't raid fire balls; do set up to each shot as if you're on the course, always pick a target and do check your aim and alignment to it - sometimes golf shots perceived as wrong can be the wrong alignment.

Nicklaus on range :  avoid range tempo, and have a specific idea what you are trying to do on EVERY shot.  So.  .   wait at least 30 to 45 seconds between shots , relax, walk away, release the club, take the club out of your hand.  You need to start your grip and address new for each shot.

... And I can't complain about their performance. Here is my scorecard from yesterday. Anytime I can par all 3 of the par 3's, my irons are doing their job. (I did miss one of them just off the fringe and got up and down)

... I have only played 3 rounds with my P770's and I need a good 5-10 more rounds to come to any solid opinions. But so far distance is 1/4-1/2 club shorter which is to be expected with weaker lofts and performance is pretty much what I expected. The short irons have been stellar and I see no reason to think of a combo set, something I had considered. However the feel is a bit on the dull side. Maybe it's just in comparison to the T200's or King Tours that both had different but nice feel so it is a little concerning.

... Dead center contact feels as sweet as any club I have played but that sweet spot is evidently very tiny. Missing by 1/8" and 1/4" or even 1/2" that has happened with some bad lies and they all have the same dull feedback. It isn't a bad feel but it isn't a good feel either. I am hoping they are just very solid and I am not used to that feel so 5-10 more rounds should provide an answer.

Love the review man!  I really like the Maxfli Tour X.
Kirkies typically fly about 10yds shorter off the tee for me.  Haven't played the Srixons but have so many other ones I'm trying right now.

So that Kirkland is a good ball and I’d still place it in this tier.  It wasn’t for me but could be good for someone else.
I really like the feel of the Diamond and it’s difficult to quantify subjective like feel.

This was based on control from inside that 30 yards. It’s a little slighted as I’m more familiar with this ball however even with that experience it did outperform the others.

I like to take lessons about halfway through the season. It makes sure that I’m showing up confident with my normal swing and all the off season rust is shaken off. It also allows plenty of golf to implement and work on the drills and instruction you get from the lesson. Just my 2-pennies.

Want to "second" that statement! I've spent too much time in the party doing just that - repping bad habits - and this making it even harder to transition into new, good habits...
A few tidbits that have helped me...
Always practice with a purpose. Work on one thing at a time. With on that one thing for at most 20 minutes then switch it up or take a short break. Always be hitting towards a target, not just 'out there'. Always set up to the ball properly, as if you're playing an important round on the course. Always change up clubs and targets after every few swings.  Don't forget putting practice!  Also consider a lesson now so you have a baseline and some drills to work on over the Winter (lots of practice you can off the range and not hitting balls!).
Be patient!!! Everyone learns differently and progress in this crazy game takes time...... Good luck!!

I walk by myself regularly at municipal courses and am often stuck behind people who either don't understand the concept of letting someone play through, or have the "I paid just as much as you did" mentality and think I should have to wait for their foursome...
If no one is behind me, once I finish the hole I take a few minutes to putt from different parts of the green while I wait.
With that, Golf for me is an outlet from a stressful and demanding job, so those moments of waiting are time for me to remember why I am out there; to unplug, clear my head, and get home to my wife in a good mood.

Another vote for getting a lesson.....but if you are not in a place to be able to get lessons, I would focus as much as you can on fundamentals. Stance (Everything square as @russtopherb mentioned), Grip, Aim, weight transfer, takeaway.
The driver is incredibly hard to hit and the 3 wood isn't much better. I disciplined myself to leave the driver out of my bag till I was confident with my irons. I was breaking 90 consistently with taking a 5 hybrid off the tee and that was a lot more fun than hitting slices OB; that doesn't help you with your swing, but scoring lower definitely makes golf more fun.
Not knowing your swing at all....I have seen this drill help quite a few of my buddies get rid of their hook

But again, One lesson will save you hundreds of dollars on range balls, lost balls during the round, lost bets, and clubs broken over your knee...

So glad to hear you say this! Was given a box of the Kirkland last year and just couldn't get used to the feel and I thought it was just me because of how many people you see playing them.
When you say that the Diamond was the best within 30 yards, do you mean that from a spin perspective or feel?

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily go again if it's held at Progressive. I might if it was at an iconic stadium and part of other travel plans.
Food and refreshments were definitely "stadium pricing"

9 hole golf in a baseball stadium? Interesting concept. Let me walk you through my experience at the event in Cleveland and my review of it.
    Ordering tickets:
I did not order the tickets, as they were a gift from my wife. What I do know is you have to order an even number of tickets and they give you options of "tee time". The cost of the tickets depends on what time you select. My wife originally selected 7:30am, but they came back a few weeks later saying that time was not available and offered either a refund or free upgrade to VIP at a different time. I opted for the VIP package, because that was a no brainer. The VIP package includes a free meal, drink, entry to the challenges, and 4 mulligans.
    Rules:
They give you 2 balls/hole (18 for normal, 22 with mulligans) in a draw string bag to carry around the course with you. They set up 9 different tee boxes around the stadium, so be prepared for a bit of walking if you go. There are 4 possible scores on each hole: hole in one, birdie, par, and bogie. A birdie is if your ball stops inside a white ring around the flag, par if you stop on the "green" (marked by white flags and a black line), and bogie if you land anywhere else. You take the best score of your 2 hits. You can bring your own clubs (8-LW only), but they had clubs at each hole to use. The clubs were a mix of Cleveland Zipcore XLs irons and RTX 6 wedges.
    Before the round:
I met my brother in law outside the stadium and entered in the Club area entrance. We signed a waiver and then checked in to receive our tickets. They recommend getting there 30 minutes before your time and since our tee time was early we didn't have any wait. The club area was offering breakfast and the bar was open. Prices for everything were pretty well displayed. The club section is located on the first base line, so we need to walk over to the outfield to find the "starter" and challenges. We decided to wait on the challenges, so went to the starter to get our bag of balls and have them explain the rules. All of the balls were Srixon Soft Feels, but varying colors. After that it was off to Hole 1.
    The round:
A volunteer at each hole would direct us which of the 5 hitting bays to use, which flag to aim for, and what the elevation adjusted yardage was. At each hitting station there was a bag of at least 3 clubs provided by Cleveland Golf. Each hole also had 1 extra bag for women's clubs and an extra bag for lefty clubs. The distances were between 75-123 yards. On the 2 longest holes they did give you an option to aim for a shorter hole with that flag and distance also specified on the board. At hole 9 they would check for any balls you have left and tell you to either hit them all or give them back. You could also drop off the bag if you didn't want to keep it. There was some walking between holes, but 2 bars along the way as well. We never really had to wait at a hole, but I've heard the lines can get long during the busier times.
For those keeping score my brother in law beat me by 1 stroke. I blame it on him having more time to golf since he doesn't have kids 😆

    After the round:
We made a full circuit of the stadium, so ended back at the start with the challenges
Closest to the Pin: 107 yard downslope par 3 on a simulator. 2 shots using provided wedges (or your own). Both of my shots I'd be happy with in a normal round, but I wasn't close to winning.
Putting: There were 2 PUTTR Smart putting greens and either an HB Soft 2 - Model 1 (blade) or HB Soft 2 - Model 11 (mallet) to use. Each contestant gets 1 putt from from 6 ft, 1 from 7ft, and so on to 11 ft. It would also tell you to place the ball in the left, right, or middle. Scoring is each foot of the putt is 1 point with a maximum of 51 if you sink them all.
Driving: Pretty straight forward. Hit 2 balls as far as you can using a Launcher XL 2 set to 10.5 deg loft. The had various shafts to pick from, but no regular stiff. The longest drive on the board was 335, but no one else was above 270.
We went and had lunch to use the last of our tickets, talked a bit, and then left as there didn't seem to be much else to do other than watch others compete in the challenges.
    Review Section
    Pros:
It is a unique event Relaxed atmosphere meant most people were just having a good time We were always around the same people which led to some light hearted banter between groups Some cool tee placements. Behind home plate, from the bleachers, behind the bullpen I liked trying out the Cleveland wedges and irons. Cons:
Never found the festival atmosphere they hype up. Maybe its because we were there early in the day and college football games hadn't started by the time we left. Holes 7-8 were right next to each other, so you could tell they had run out of ideas on where to place them. No one is checking tee times, so I could see it getting backed up pretty bad during busier times. It's mentioned all over their website and stadium that they are partnered with Stand Up To Cancer (good), but I couldn't find any information on the internet about how much they donate (bad, imo) On the longer holes it could be difficult to tell where the ball stopped if you were close to the boundary, especially the green area. My final verdict is I'm glad I did it. It was a unique and fun experience. I told my wife that it was a great gift because it's something that I think is cool, but probably wouldn't have bought tickets for myself. If it's coming to your area and you can afford it my recommendation is to do it, even if you're a super serious golfer.
