  1. I see your +12 and raise ya 7 lol. Not sure it’s possible to pick a worse team.
  2. My point is if you use a tip or advice from someone else(pro/YouTube/golf forum) you can’t claim “I’m a self taught golfer”. Break it down however you want and practice it by yourself but if it’s someone else’s idea you lose the “self taught” title. Again you can claim “mostly” self taught, had a few lessons but didn’t listen, whatever. By the definition that seems to be thrown around, everyone can claim some form of self taught when they picked up a club and swung it the first time. To be honest, by definition there isn’t anyone that is “self taught” as I would be astonished if you found someone that didn’t take a tip or advice from someone and apply it to their swing. I knew I shouldn’t have said anything as this is completely pointless to argue or even talk about.
  3. Not sure who to quote with this and not even sure I should chime in or waste my time but let’s just say this You are no longer “self taught” if you get advice from someone else and apply it to your swing! It is simply a cheaper and possibly harmful way of trying to fix a swing flaw. I have never had a lesson like many but this “self taught” concept makes no sense to me. You may have started that way but once you looked online for advice, you can’t call it that anymore. Just call the thread “Anyone like me don’t wanna take lessons or Get Fit? Let’s share what works for us.”
  4. The only difference between the same model Tour issue head and the retail head is known specs. Face Angle, CT, Loft, lie. Knowing those specs can be beneficial but that is a personal preference.
  5. This is all thanks I need. Seeing pics of you and your family enjoying them tells me you were meant to have them instead of me so You are quite welcome.
  6. I like seeing the birdie balls! So glad you guys are using and enjoying them. If your son is anything like me, practice sucks. I can play all day but only practice an hour a week tops lol
  7. I say soft step and see what it’s like. I did it with a set of LZ shafts and didn’t notice a difference. You can always pull them and extend if it doesn’t work out. Another note from a club ho’ Soft stepped shafts are easier to sell than extended shafts for some reason.
  8. A lot of great responses so far. For me I rarely use the range. Early season when the course is still wet but the range is open I will go to get some swings in to see real flight vs simulator. I don’t play many courses that have a range throughout the year but if they do I’ll share a bucket with playing partners to loosen up a little. Rarely do I use it to work in anything more than making solid contact. I will usually start with my 48* wedge, hitting partial finesse shots before working to full shots. I’ll work through the bag in this order 7/5/2/PW. Never more than 2-3 shots unless I don’t make decent contact. Follow that with a couple 3&5 wood swings(1 or 2 each depending on results). I will end with Driver. It is usually the club that most dictates my round and coming from a massive slice to draws/pushes/hooks it is always a work in progress. I’ll hit around 10 shots with the driver, then depending on the type of range balls, I will take a couple of my “found” balls from my bag that most closely resemble my ball of choice and hit them. It allows me to make sure what I’m seeing isn’t just due to the range balls. My local course that I’m a member of is a little 9-holer with no water or sand. Just a lot of trees and areas of no mowing but super cheap($278 with tax last year for unlimited play). There is no range so if we aren’t pushed for time and the course is empty, sometimes we will play 3 holes(every 3 holes come back to the clubhouse) as a warm up/substitution for a range. Not ideal but better than nothing.
  9. You aren’t alone Rob! I’m currently hitting one and will more than likely have at least 2 more ordered next week
  10. Updated BNG division. Gonna be real interesting this week with very few big names to choose from.
  11. I’m probably a prime example of a fool and his money are soon parted as my current setup Srixon ZX5 MKII LS and autoflex shaft is pushing the grand mark and I’m still gonna try the Paradym/Wilson/Mizuno. As for the price going up, I see the bigger problem being how much the discount becomes when buying last years. Right now secondhand driver heads from last year land around $300 depending on condition. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the used market price start to rise instead of new prices coming down if the oems aren’t selling as much as they think they should.
  12. As mentioned by @Golfspy_Lukesthe 430 was a massive improvement on sound than the 425. Even with my 425 lst hot melted the 430 without was better. On top of that ball speed and spin were more consistent. 425 was decent but everything about the 430 was better for me
  13. Alright I finally got to see pretty much all the new drivers in person today. Not a lot of time to browse as we were rushed so hitting was definitely out too. Of all the new ones 3 caught my eye in the looks department. Cally 8* Paradym TD, Mizuno ST-X 230, and the Wilson Staff DynaPower carbon. All 3 looked better to my eye than the Srixon ZX5 LS but that’s in part of my love for the carbon fiber look. All 3 had a deeper face which I also prefer. The zx7 mkii also had a slightly deeper face but looked similar enough to me that it’s a wash with the zx5 LS. If performance is equal the Callaway will be in the bag with the autoflex as it looked the best to my eye with the other 2 behind but definitely ahead of the Srixon. However I will find a way to give all 3 a shot to dethrone the zx5 LS.
  14. I saw this today in person and it looks amazing. Didn’t get a chance to hit it as we were pushed for time but definitely got wide eyed by its appearance.
  15. If they used air it should be no problem. I would make sure to let them know if the screw up immediately so they know to expect ya.
  16. I’m with @cnosil in you shouldn’t have to check. Taking it back would be the right way to do it. You will definitely change the setting rotating the shaft. Not 100% sure on cobra and what will change but something will. Did you take the whole club there or just the shaft? If just the shaft then it’s probably on you and no reason to take it back without paying to fix it. If you took the whole club in then they should fix it for free.
  17. Update and probably the last purchase for a while. (This one caught SWMBO’s attention) lol As you may have seen I sold the “Hulk” shaft. It is a great shaft and the combo with the ZX5 LS lowered my spin to sub 2000’s on many shots. I found that I had to swing 110% to get the most out of the shaft and my body won’t let me do that anymore. If they made it in 5.5 with that finish it would probably be the ticket(Black Gen4 is a possibility if 5.5 becomes available). So instead I decided to buy an autoflex 505xx shaft to pair with the ZX5 LS. Local guy is still awaiting his demo Srixon and Cally heads so I’m leaving mine with him to use as a demo and I’ll get a new one when he gets his in. By doing so I’m getting a new autoflex for less then they go for used. Hard to complain about that. On a different note the ZX5 LS can absolutely keep up ball speed wise with anything out there and is definitely low spin. Even with a couple different shafts they had spin stayed very consistent only going over 3000 once on a terrible heel shot.
  18. Yes you are “technically” correct as that was the intention of PX to create a stout shaft. However it does get referred to by many as the “hulk” due to the PVD finish. I tend to agree with you plenty on here but if your only reason to post is to have to be the guy that is “right” and correct other users posts we will start to disagree a lot more.
  19. Combine this and the Hulk for $350 shipped!!!
