  1. yeah, the courts are dumb sometimes. And I do need to apologize to Red Rooster, once I logged in from my computer, easy sailing, 2 new gloves and a carrying case on the way. Excited to give them a try.
  2. Morning, off to an eventful start. Scheduled an oil change and look at again some heat shield issues on my muffler, but got in a brisk walk from my new garage, settled some cases in prep for a dumb trial this afternoon, and really getting my mindset for a Pickleball Scramble tournament on Saturday, while also planning the filming of my WITB update for the forum. Hope y'all have a good day and got in on that Red Rooster deal because now the site is telling me I'm locked out
  3. hey everyone, so yesterday was a mixed bag. Got told my parking garage was shutting down due to work without a permit and just general safety concerns, but repaid for a new garage, although at a higher price. But got home after Pickleball to learn either as a make-good from GolfBalls.com or as an error, instead of my 3 dozen order, I came home to see 6 dozen personalized balls, so we're all set for at least the next 2 or so years.
  4. So, Hayes, I'll jump in here with my two wheat pennies to share with the group, which is different from some of the other pieces of advice because my wife and I are still young in our marriage and don't have some of the issues with kids that you and yours have right now. From my read of the situation here, the most significant issue isn't allowing time; it appears to be the misalignment of goals and measures to take those goals. As a 7 handicap, you're already better than around 80% of golfers in the USA, and I think it's great to continue to have something to aspire to. After all, what is golf is not a quest to get better? However, there comes a time when we all need a readjustment in the face of reality and that maybe specific dreams and certain goals aren't the be all end all of things. I understand now that I likely will continue to play 1-2 rounds a week, likely won't have time to practice as much as I did in my youth, and will continue not to see rapid gains and improvements like I would if I had those opportunities, and as kids and other obligations enter the picture, it becomes more difficult to maintain. I've made my peace with that for the most part. I find enjoyment in being with my wife, us doing things together, and trying new things. I do have other hobbies, some just for me, and others we do as a couple and I'm fortunate that my wife allows me to do them to my heart's content and I allow her her time to her things. There is no secret sauce, there is no major cure, it's a give and a take but the paths need to be somewhat aligned if at all possible. I think if you guys sit down and are willing to discuss these issues it'll do a long way, either personally or as @Golfspy_Lukes mentioned, perhaps with the help of a professional. There's nothing wrong with it but the fact that there's these issues it's always better the talk it out and communicate your concerns and problems than let them fester under the surface.
  5. Yeah, I did too. I didn't do Titleist... but they said here on the 31st
  6. Sup everyone, today's my father's birthday which is nice. Today was also supposed to be the day I was receiving a shipment from GolfBalls.com, and I was never even sent a tracking number and have an email out to support, which is not nice... so a bit of a wash.
  7. I'm always looking for a good glove at a good price, but a weird hand sizing (between Cadet Large and Cadet XL, depending on fit) always leaves me a touch weary. I think I just need to bite the bullet and make a selection, even though I have like 2 unused gloves right now.
  8. morning everyone, some good results at court today and pickleball class this evening... the universe has turned back in a good direction at least for this 24 hour stretch!
  9. Morning, I had a nice phone call with my bank this morning to stop some fraudulent charges on my debit card, so now that's canceled and I'm waiting on a new card to show up in the mail, so I have that going for me... Today will be a rough enough one as is. C'mon universe, help a brother out.
  10. So, as people on the Queenstown trip last year know, I love my Aussie Chiller hat. This year though I've sprung for a GPS device that you can clip onto the brim of a hat, so I'm back looking at caps again... unless I can get it on the belt loop or back pocket. I always feel weird about branded caps though, so it's proving to be a bit tricky. My guess is that we'll find something eventually.
  11. So with the shoes and club 14 arriving yesterday, I just made my golf ball selection and order for this season as well. Brand new WITB is coming before the end of the month.
  12. I mean, I don't want to come off like I'm being sarcastic or a jerk here, but if you're looking for a slightly lower-spinning version of the 2022 Chrome Soft X I'd suggest... the 2022 Chrome Soft X LS? Compression wise it's nearly identical (95 to 94 in the Ball Lab tests) and the goal is literally to create a similar feel to CSX, but taking some of the spin off for players who need that slightly lesser spin. I don't think you have to look very far if you want to stay in the Callaway ball family.
  13. As a one-grip company guy, it's my OCD and need for uniformity in feel that does it for me, even though I am a glove wearer. Lamkin has just always been my company for the most part, and I feel super comfortable with them. If the old Victory grip from GP was more readily available though... oh boy.
  14. So all swinging grips are Lamkin Sonar Tour Wrap Calibrate with 3 wraps of tape, Putter is Lamkin Deep Etched in Blue with I think one additional wrap.
  15. See, this is what I think is probably going to happen. This seems like an effort by the USGA and the R&A to keep their old classic courses in the discussion of rotational scheduling. I wouldn't be surprised if by the time this comes around in 2026, only USGA Championships and the Open are using this rule... and maybe The Masters, which is fine enough. It takes us back to the time of the "American Ball" and the "British Ball" which was in existence up until 1990. Might it be different for people for those 3 weeks? Yeah, but it'll keep some old courses that can be beaten into the ground with technology as part of the game's legacy and maybe that's good.
  16. Not for nothing... but I might know a guy
  17. Sadly this weekend I missed on what may have been a flash sale a DSG and GG on Callaway Chrome Soft X, 2022 Triple Track edition that were 4 dozen for price of 3... but I did reorder my golf shoes I got for Christmas in the right size and finally made a decision on club 14. Once everything shows up and a golf ball selection is made, I promise you all an updated WITB, first one I think since the G710 Review in 2020?
  18. I do find what the algorithm finds for the rest of y'all interesting. To be honest, in my versions of the search, as a lower spin player I never saw the BX or Left Dash as an option. Pretty consistently my top options were actually were Bridgestone B XS and Srixon Z Star Diamond with a decent mix of Wilson Staff Model, Chrome Soft X and Snell MTB-X in there as well for third choice and all in that same 93-94% range depending on what I was looking for most. We're watching current ball sale deals to see which one might end up in the bag going forward but I've played a few of them in the past (Soft X and XS) that I was impressed with, so that's likely where we start from.
  19. Just going to drop into this thread to say the following from experience. Family and end of relationship court proceedings are always messy and hardly ever as simple as they appear on the face of things.
  20. Thank y'all for the shout-out, it's been... a day.
  21. The only downside... no mix-and-match for the free dozen promotion, which makes me sad.
  22. Chitown, send me your email. The league was just reupped!
  23. Well, I do hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after attempting to be someone who has a part of the group, and originally saying no, and then saying yes, I've moved back to no. I just can't make the numbers work with other things the wife and I have planned for the year, and hoping to purchase our home. I'm super bummed guys, and I'm sorry. Have not too much fun with or without me.
  24. Just so you're aware Jaime, I did get the re-up thing from Fantrax in the last little bit, so if everyone's cool with it being there, I'm cool to get it back in play.
  25. An absurd question, is anyone north of say Maryland considering driving?
