Yeah, the height and stopping power is what I'm missing from my G410 crossover. It's a monster off the tee, but off the deck not as consistent, and feels like I have to put in way too much work to flight it up. Hoping this will be easier to launch, and not be so left bias as most hybrids. They have a flatter lie angle than other oems so I'm hoping that helps

Yep, the Apex has a flatter lie angle than most which is likely why I have expereinced more success with it than others.  Good luck with the Mizuno!

I'm actually doing the opposite. Just scooped up a 2020 Mizuno CLK 22* to replace my 23* crossover. The Crossover just isn't consistent and I feel like I have to work too hard to get the ball up. I need something to fly 200 and stop within a reasonable distance after. Going to hunt down one of those Modus GOST hybrid shafts to try out, and play it around what my set 4i would play, maybe .5" longer.

The only hybrid I have ever seen success with is the original Callaway Apex 23*.   Granted, I have not tried a ton of different hybrids, especially recently.  Tried 3 other 4 hybrids since that one came out and none gave me as good of perfromance.  OF course, I am the guy that still games a Callaway XHot Pro 5 Wood because nothing more modern has equaled the performance I get from it.  Granted, the 4 iron (Hogan PTx Pro) does not give me the height or stopping power that the Apex does, but I get the same distance with it and better dispersion.  They both go hot and cold on me so they spend about equal time in the bag.  Nice to have a back-up plan when the deep freeze strikes one of them.

Nice! That will be great! I’m sure you’re going to learn a lot about your stroke and they will find you the perfect flat stick!

What’s your preferred style now?  and Why do you keep changing?

I have about every style you can think of.  Was always a blade player until I started experimenting with a few mallets this year.  Was really liking my first full mallet (Indi Allison) until the sun brightened up and the darn thing became way too reflective.  I have been primarily gaming a Ben Hogan BHB02 (face blalanced blade with single bend shaft) the past few weeks and seeing some pretty good success with it.  I really attribute that to the Two Thumb grip I have on it (which was previously on the mallet) because I was so-so with it before.  Started using the Two Thumb grip, which also rrequired a putting grip change from conventional to prayer style, during the two month quarantine when my course was closed and really got comfortable with it.  My go to putter for the last several years has been a SeeMore mFGP.  So, as you can see, I am all over the board.  Definitely not the right answer, but I have always been quick to bench one and take out another when one went cold.

  4. I was lucky enough to win a Club Champion putter fitting a few days ago so will be doing that sometime this summer.  Really excited about it.  Have never been through one and am tired of blindly throwing money at putters (currently own 12 in all different shapes and sizes) hoping to land the perfect flatstick, which I have definitely yet to do.

  5. Love these irons.  Have been gaming them for about a year with no thought of changing them out for anything else.  The ICON blades sure are beautiful but I am realistic about my ball striking abilities so am very content with these beauties.  I play them with the Recoil 780 ES Smacwrap F4 shafts (guy in his 50's who's body can't handle steel shaft vibration any longer).  Just a solid, great looking and feeling, and accurate set of irons.  The only other set of irons I own are the original PTx irons (same shafts and specs) which are a joy to game also.

  6. I have been gaming this driver for almost a year now and have no plans of changing to something else anytime soon.  At least until BHG comes out with a new driver.  Hit it as far as anything else I have ever played and with more accuracy.  Ordered it with the UST Helium shaft and liked it with that shaft but the driver really came alive when I put an Accra TZ6 55 M4 shaft in it.  Has proven to be a great combo for me.

  7. Being in my mid-50's and my body not being able to deal with the constant vibration of steels shafts anymore, I went to all graphite (Driver - LW) about 5.5 years ago so it made my shaft choice pretty easy.  Only one graphite choice (Recoil 780 ES Smacwrap) and luckily it has been a good fit for me.  As far as for woods, I knew from previous experience that Project X and Tensei shafts were not very good fits for me to I went with UST Helium in driver, 3W and 5W.  They turned out to be OK but I changed them out for shafts I already had to get better performance for me.

  8. I am truly shocked that there has been no discussion of these wedges in either this thread or the review thread in almost a year.  As long as they keep making them, I will keep buying and gaming them without even considering anything else.  Not being the longest or most accuate ball striker in the world, wedges are my key to being able to maintain a mid-single digit index and these are the best I have ever played.  Have a satin chome 50* and both satin chrome and BDM finishes in 54 and 58 degree wedges.

    1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?  Been playing for a little over 40 years and my handicap ranges from mid 3's in the highest heat of the summer to low 7's in the winter when the temp's are beow 60.  Love the high heat and high humidity!

    2. What do you love about golf?  The challenge of the game is what drives my love first and foremost.

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?  Have benn registered on the site for several years and just now really starting to post since I see familiar names from other forums I have frequented in the past.  Have always really loved the MGS reviews and social media content.

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course?  Have lived in Thomasville, GA for about 12 years and have been a member at Country Oaks Golf Course that entire time.

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?  Year around golf is the best.  Temperatures dropping below 60 during periods in the months of November - February is the worst.

    6. What do you do for a living?  Have been retired for 2.5 years

    7. How’d you pick your user name?  Huge Boston Red Sox fan
