Cannot believe this garnered more than the Cobra Connect Challenge.  Although, maybe it's a good thing as people actually do understand the commitment that the testing takes in general, especially the Cobra Connect.

That would be pretty cool.  I know there are a lot of regional outings that members have.  Some still a bit further away than I can do at this point with the family.   I'd be down if anyone is around the Indianapolis area

My local range just send out an email that they are hosting a Cobra fitting day next Monday.  I called an reserved my spot -- just in case 😎
 

Definitely agree.  I love a good laugh, but it made it kind of difficult to follow along.  I know smack talk is a huge part of it so I understand the memes can be an easy way to do that and add some color to the conversation, but it can take away from the larger picture.

I think I speak for most of us in saying please do not be sorry for taking time with the announcement. Considering there were 4400+ entries, several other tests going on and a new process we can all understand that the mods and team want to make the proper selection for this. We may just be here hitting refresh every 30 seconds or less, but we know you are working hard in the background to get it all done properly. 

Every minute that goes by without selections being announced, is another minute I’m officially still in the running...
 

To answer a couple of those questions. 
For Cobra Connect, we always try to make sure all areas of the country are open and in playable weather when picks are made.  I think one year maybe 2 or 3 we misjudged by a bit and left some areas out.  
 
This year we announced a bit earlier knowing the selection process was going to take a bit longer due to the format change and also to allow for any delays in product that Cobra might have.  Although they think they will be in good shape for this. 
 
Sorry  for not holding to our normal timeframe of announcing the same week entries closed.  But we want to make sure the new process gives everyone a fair look.  

Would be interesting to see how many candidates there were last year, but that is next to impossible to see. 
I did notice that the Inesis is only 700 signups behind which is awfully impressive. Fingers crossed for something this week, but if it took longer I also wouldn't be surprised. 

EDIT: you peaked my curiosity so I went back and looked (admittedly went down a few rabbit holes on other threads before I got to it) May 21st was when it was opened up with the announcement on a very special (my birthday) June 5th. Making it just over 2 weeks from opening. However we didn't have a specific closing date before for entries?
CC3 also opened May 21st and with an announcement of competitors on the 29th.
CC2 opened May 22nd and was announced on the 29th.

So there is some variation and I am thinking they will keep us guessing for a little while still!
Also brings up a question with all of them previously starting end of May was there any particular reason for the earlier start this year? Or just wanting to keep it/make it a longer competition this season?

About to head back to last year's selection to get an idea of what to expect.  Not sure if that's a smart or dumb move, but at least then I'll have a better idea.

Whoever is selected for CC5, I hope there is less memes and gifs than previous years. It made the thread extremely hard to follow for real information 

Hopefully more meaningful and less memeful.  Not to say that there was a lack of meaningful last year, and that a few memes scattered through can't add to things but a full page of memes can get difficult, especially when trying to view on a phone.

Great to see this again!  I wanted to get more into the challenge last year as an outsider, but just didn't have as much time as I'd hoped.  Going back and forth this year as I'll be injury free and ready to go.  Also, I've gotten a SkyTrak so I'd be able to add in some great numbers and insight for comparison as well as playing virtual rounds of golf with weeks that are tighter scheduled.  Not sure yet, as my biggest objective would be to offer tremendous information to our great MGS folks.
I'll see if I'm lured into the sign up by the deadline.

Last year was truly awesome. I know all the competitors had an absolute blast and we had quite a range of stats between us. I want to say there was a 20ish point handicap range difference between us but the competition rounds were handicapped to make things fair.

I saw.... wow just incredible. Hopefully we more ppl following along though. Only 27 so far. Going to be a huge year and a lot to live up to for those who do get chosen. 

Let's see some more following along! (pretty sure when I crashed last night it was at 1800 so it doubled overnight) Probably with a push from instagram and such which I saw. Great to see more people on the site and hopefully a lot of them will join in for the ride as well as keep the search going through other threads as well.
