  1. Congrats winners! I don't want to see how far down the list I am! I must be in contention for last [emoji24] Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  2. They talk about increasing offset, but the specs say they have the same offset as the last models. I saw a pic on Facebook of the three current irons and the old PTx together. The top lines don't look too different in thickness, but these are definitely more square which gives them the appearance of being thicker. Chisag picked up on this in the blog pictures and wondered why they wouldn't round that to give the illusion of thinness. I would have to agree. Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  3. Bjerregaard, -10 Other picks - too embarrassed to list now, but willing to flaunt them and give you an "I told you so" if the right half of the field catches the stomach flu and withdraws.
  4. I would love to see some views compared to the old PTx. So the face got bigger, (I can understand that) but the sole got wider and offset went up (sounds a bit strange)? Did the topline slim down some? I was considering doing some work to optimize the shafts in my PTxs. If I can get those shafts with these slick looking heads...
  5. This seems to be very similar to what I found with the e6 Speed. I thought distance was on par with what I usually see and it held well enough on full shots. I actually shot the round of my life with one. The next round I needed quite a few more chips and pitches, and I couldn't get it to hold for the life of me. I would really have to rework the short game to accommodate the lack of spin. On full shots, though, I couldn't hit it offline.
  6. Interesting...I have tried a few others against the Ping Tour shaft and it wins out every time. I think it was a $30 up charge, so that was a bonus. Does that come as a stock option on the 410's? Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. I think I can see seven grooves in the picture and they run parallel to the top of the clubface. Do today's drivers have that many tightly spaced grooves? Isn't there usually a good sized smooth area? The top line of an iron is usually not parallel with the grooves. But photoshop could be deceiving me here. Or is it the bottom???? I reread the blog article about the 1999 Apex irons. I suppose most of the people involved with those irons are no longer with the new reincarnation of the company, but the true Hogan die hards involved back then were very against releasing a cavity back or GI type club as the first release under Spalding. If I were a betting man I would put money on a players distance iron before an SGI iron. Not sure how a bulky iron fits in with the whole "only something Mr. Hogan would sign off himself" mantra.
  8. Well 6 days till the next release. Looks to me to be the face of a club. Pretty standard grooves. Another iron? The bad news is that @GolfSpy Barbajo has been exposed. I guess we cant keep a secret.
  9. Do you have a putting mirror? I got a cheap knockoff on Amazon that works fine, but it is a bit narrow, so checking shoulder alignments isn't the easiest. One of the wider ones would make it easy to verify where the shoulders are lined up. Can you make a diy laser alignment checker? The TXG putting videos usually pull one out to check where Matt is lined up. That would be handy to see which one of your putters lines up closest to on line for you. I won't pretend to be a putting expert, but all those numbers sound like a lot of compensations. Adam Young makes some good points that variability is awesome, but unnecessary compensations aren't beneficial. I would rather cut out some of the compensations than get a putter that encourages them. You have tried the Malaska drill to get setup in a position that helps you line up the putt to the intended line without much success. If you are lining up so open to the line, would setting up square help find a suitable position? Maybe that is the domino you need to get everything else to fall into place.
  10. At first glance I thought you were claiming a double albatross as in quadruple birdie! How many cart paths and sprinkler heads would that take? I'd vote for albatross. It sounds so much more impressive than double eagle. Double eagle sounds too much like double bogey, and I don't like those. I earned one if these on a par five first hole a few years ago. I'll never forget one playing partner telling me "it all goes downhill from here". It did. It's hard to keep up that pace. Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. Hmmmm. I forgot I got three of these with my green. I'll have to give these a try with the driver soon! Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  12. I would also check with someone that knows your course conditions and something about bounce on clubs to determine if you are using the right bounce on your wedge. Your great detailed description of one of the last rounds indicated a lot of chunks or bladed chips. Your technique might not be perfect, but you might also be bringing a C grind to an S grind fight. I also agree with the recommendation to try out a bunch of shots with different clubs to see the rollout on each one. The Pelz book has some good illustrations and tables for this. In fact, I think I could pick out about 5 key things out of his 1100 page novel, and this would be one of those top five. I could tell you a 5 iron is going to roll out more than a PW, and you would say "duh, I know that". But to see the illustration and the few key clubs like a PW (50% flight, 50% roll) has been so key on my club selection around the green. My improved chipping has helped hide how bad I am at putting!
  13. Did you always use one clu. For the pitching and chipping? Is it a high lofted wedge? Or do you try and use a lower lofted club like an 8 when you are closer to the green? Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  14. Well@Golfspy Barbajo, did you get to fondle these putters? What were your thoughts? Sounds like these won't be in the demo program for the near future. I was really hoping for some face tech in these. It's hard to tell, but it looks like a constant mill across the face. Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. I'll second @GolfSpy MPR in that I enjoy these threads. We could have completely dissimilar swings, but it is neat to hear instructor feedback and keep an eye out for tell tale signs of this or that in my game. Keep the posts coming! I would also second @Kenny B. The long irons may be the scoring clubs for Tiger, but a 25 hdcp will probably in more cases than not see the biggest improvement from short game practice. I would recommend reading the Pelz Short Game Bible (it's long, so maybe skim it). He does as good a job as any explaining why the short game is so important. If you have a real life instructor, I'd stick with his guidance on your short game technique over Pelz's methods if they are different. Even if you are still 20 yards out, this falls well under the short game definition. The distance is going to vary from player to player, but 50yds and in is a decent guideline. If you can get these even into a 10 ft radius and you make 20% of those with a few close enough to one putt, that could be six-seven strokes gone right there. If you combine this with some swing improvements to eliminate the chunks, you will be slashing your hdcp faster than a prairie fire with a tail wind (had to reference my list of olegrayisms for that one).
  16. What are your iron lofts? Mine have a 4 deg step up to a 22 deg 4 iron. Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  17. My bottom end looks like this 46 - 150 yds 50 - 135 yds 54 - 116 yds 58 - 105 yds Which probably means I should get that 54 tweaked a bit. I think while the iron set lofts have creeped lower over the years, the "standard" wedges of 52, 56, 60 have left a big gap between the PW and GW. I think I'm rather mechanical, so I try to go by the Pelz clock method. If I were to go by feel like @GB13, my hdcp would be on a steady increase for a long time. If you are looking for art, I would recommend one of his paintings over mine. I would also like to see a still photo of the top of all my iron swings overlaid and compared to @Waazzupppp. The top end of our bags look really close in yardages, but I am a full club longer by the time we get to the 9i. I don't think I have a giant backswing on the lower irons and wedges, but perhaps my perception is wrong.
  18. They are putting teasers out on Facebook and I believe their website. Monday was the first teaser release, and it was individual Equalizer wedges in black instead of the three wedge set. They are only $105 each. I'll probably try one when I retire the TK's, but it seemed like a rather weak release after they made a deal about it. There is another teaser out for the 18th. The background has was looks to be a milled putter face. It looks a bit like the Ping Sigma crossed with a Cleveland SOFT? So maybe the nest release is a putter with some face tech? That seems to be a much bigger deal than an existing club in some new lofts. I'm curious if this is their own putter or a partnership like they did with Bettinardi before.
  19. I think @GSwag's course would be out of business in a few months.
  20. For a bit...but then your handicap would adjust to your improved play and you wouldn't be winning that money anymore. You would just be left with those ugly clubs. I certainly can't claim to have had the sexiest bag in the past (or ever), but these tip the scale to the too ugly side for me. If I was really smashing these things, I would take that shaft and try it in every other club head possible. Those blades though... Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  21. I agree. If they weren't so dang ugly, they'd be way better looking. If those are reflective, you could stick them in the ground along the driveway so you know where to plow. Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  22. Ok. I'm on board with that. At first read I thought US Open>>>Honda Classic. But looking from the angle that a Mizuno Driver hasn't won on tour for 19 years, this is pretty big. I brought this up in the thread about Titleist winning the equipment count again, but how much money are we talking per player in this pay to play model? Does this cover expenses or is this more like a comfortable living? How does this compare to tour earnings for guys hovering around the lose your card status? Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  23. BK's multiple majors with irons he's not paid to play? Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  24. [emoji106] The impact with the driver sounds like a cannon in slowmo. And I would award +1 pts for tour sauce on the 7 iron for the long hold at the finish followed by the shaft slide. Swings look really nice. Do you have distances for your whole bag with the new swing yet? Sent from my SM-A600A using MyGolfSpy mobile app
