  1. My kids morning feeding was timed just right to get a chance at 9 before work. I tried a new course not far off my daily commute. Carts were mandatory to "keep people moving".

I'm not sure why they bothered, there was no marshal and pace of play was the slowest I've seen all year. It was difficult to even guess what was happening to make such an early tee time play so incredibly slow. I didn't complete 5 holes in 2 hours and ended up calling it early. Two other people in my group abandoned the round early with me, as we all were in my situation, trying for a quick pre-work jaunt.

While driving off the course it looked like a 10 stack was leading the pack as part of a bachelor party (or similarly raucous occasion).

Props to them for getting after it that early, it would have been entertaining to see if it didn't throw a monkey wrench in my attempt at a morning outing.

  2. Yup, you never, ever walk a small dog near any freakin water that could have gators. Those little dogs are snack size to the gator. Sand thing happened to a guy walking his gig here a couple years ago. Luckily he and the dog survived.

I've seen idiot grandparents have their little grandkids looking for lost golf balls in ponds next to golf courses. Real idiots.

This made me cringe so incredibly hard. I don't know if I could hold my tongue seeing people send small children to tempt fate.

  3. Our course is about 20 minutes from BWI Airport and maybe 15 minutes or so from the big hotel district near there.  I've put together a program and just need to market it better next year.

For guests staying in a hotel, if they bring a flyer/coupon we leave at the front desk, that is the following offer.  It's meant to target the business traveler who finishes meetings at 5:00 or so and has the evening free.

Free Rental clubs for twilight golf and 20% discount on the greens fee.

or another option, if they have their own clubs and just want to practice.

Large bucket of balls, and dinner in the grill for $25 or $35 dollars if they want to rent the clubs (Brand new Cleveland CBX Irons and Launcher drivers) and hit balls and have dinner.

Figure if they can expense a $25 or $35 dinner, they get some practice in as well.

For 2019 thinking of adding some sort of Dinner to that twilight golf package so they can do the same thing.

The issue is it used to be effective at leaving flyers/brochures at the hotel front desk, as many guests would go to the front desk asking where the nearest driving range or course is.   Now we all find that right on our phones.   So I'm sure there must be some SEO that our corporate office could do with geo tags or something from those hotels.   That will take somebody smarter than me to figure out.

edit: Sorry didn't mean to use your rant as a unintended promotion for our course, it just seemed topical to your visiting a range while on a work trip.

I'll be visiting that area a few times this year and that sounds like a great set up. Is the location listed elsewhere on here and I'm not finding it or can you message it to me?

  4. Having to wait for my laptop to be updated to Windows 10...remotely..going on 4 hours now and it's just gotten to the actual update!  So much for getting any work done today...

Interesting, I may investigate this update process to carve a 4 hour window out of may day for "offline research"

  5. Went to the range to work on solidifying the swing changes adopted during yesterday's lesson. I'll tell you what, this swing really works for me and the way my coach talked about it really has set-in and corresponds to my feel! I was stoked afterward! I really have a feel for these changes. I'm excited. Here's a pic I sent my pro. This was after hitting TEN shots in the exact same spot on my 9 iron!

Congrats on finding a swing that works for you, especially if you're getting that kind of striking result!

Today was chip and putt day. Playing early in the morning I've been seeing some very damp greens lately. It's playing all sorts of games with my sense of touch around and on the green.

  6. The shaft connectors are identical with one exception. The loft numbers are different so you have to dial it in to what works best for you. For example my F7 3 wood in the connector window display shows 10.5. It is safe to say the actually loft presented to the ball is much higher than 10.5. My best guess would be around 15 degrees which is your average 3 wood. The added length gives me a better lag whip. If I want more control over distance I simply choke down on the club.

Thanks for the info! I plan to give it a try this weekend.

  7. FYI- I replaced the standard shaft with a cobra driver shaft. What a difference a couple of inches make (get your mind out of the gutter).

That sounds like it'd be fun to try. Are the shaft connectors different or is it as easy as the one screw and popping it on a standard Cobra driver shaft?

  8. I'll cast another vote in the "try the F7". I have the 3/4 F7 fairway wood and it's my favorite club in my bag. I share your affinity for heavy club on a light shaft feel and it checks that box for me.

I didn't get to try the Bio Cell woods so I can't offer a direct comparison, but before buying I tested both the F6 and F7. Between the two I tried, the F7 simply performed better for me.

What region do you live in?

EDIT: If you know you like the Bio Cell, would ebay/used be an option? Seems like there are some well priced used options.
