DrRob1963's Achievements

  1. I have always liked the small mallet style putters. I first saw the PING DARBYi in 1999 and fell in love with it. I bought it straight away. It's had six regrips and is on its second shaft after rusting through, but its staying in my bag - this little beauty is just a putting beast on the greens!
  2. Hannah Green - LPGA SuperStar, Aussie girl and a genuinely nice human being!
  3. No music out loud, thanx - If you want it, use earbuds!
  4. To misquote the great philosopher, René Descartes: "I golf, therefore I walk"! Walking helps my fitness & wellbeing, my mental health, keeps my golf costs down, as well as keeping my golf scores down! I simply score better with a nice walk - looking at the lie of the land & green as well as the upcoming shot as I walk to my ball. I calm down better after a poor shot, and that walk helps me psyche up for the next shot.
  5. I like to mix it up! Sometimes the Tigers, other times the 'regular mens' tees and then also the 'short mens' tees. More places = more fun. Our club runs competitions most days and they do vary the competition tee of the day as well. On the Monthly Medal days, they even run two comps - the "Medal' from the tips, and a Stableford from the 'short mens' tees - and you get to choose your comp.... How good is that???
  6. Jack *18 majors with 3 sets of the Grand Slam. *19 r/ups *All 4 senior majors within his first two senior seasons *Outstanding golf design for over 200 courses *Exemplary personal life and my golfing hero!
  7. I think it's a matter of working out the most lofted wedge you want in your bag, then take the loft of your iron set Pitching Wedge and then fill the gaps evenly at 4*-6* spacings. In my Hogan TK-15's, I had wedges at 48*, 53*, 58* and 63* which was great for someone who loves loft! My 'second' set of Mizuno MP-18 MMC and T-20s had wedges at 46* (set wedge), 50*, 56* and 62* which I was happy with as well. Just as long as your set doesn't have a PW loft of 37*! That's no typo - Thirty-seven degrees.... Thank You, Yonex! Hahahahaha!
  8. Not many spectators.... I thought this was an important event! Was the LACC trying to keep the riff-raff out???
  9. At the moment, four wedges: The wedge from my Mizuno set MP-18 MMC at 46*; Mizuno T-22 wedges at 50*; 56*, and 62* Full swing distances with them are 110, 100, 85 and 70 yards. - works out well and they are just magic for flops, chipping, pitching and the sand
  10. You know what they say.... "Happy wife = Happy life" !!!
  11. Just wondering.... Rather than Mrs. Chunks, your better half should be "The Good Lady Chunksalot", shouldn't she???
  12. I haven't made a switch for a while now.... My Ping Darby has been in the bag since about 2000 [except when it's getting a new grip]. Beautiful putter - my baby - Pity I'm not as reliable!
  13. My MGI Navigator has the same - an axle position for the wheel to rotate freely, if the battery fails for whatever reason. Another thing I found was that bug repellant spray can be sprayed onto the axle, if pushing is difficult or squeaky - it makes a good emergency lubricant!
  14. I am a confirmed walker. I have a good set-up, with a battery-powered, remote controlled MGI ZIP Navigator that gets me around easily - even 36 holes between charges. I find walking helps keep me fit, and also gives me good "thinking time" as I walk to my next shot. Cheaper than a cart, but I'd walk rather than ride any day!
