I have tried them and I do enjoy using one! I like saving money when I can and I like the workout from carrying it for 18. I didn't notice any differences in my game when I used one vs not!

No push cart for me yet just a bag carrier. I like the extra workout I get from hauling it around for 18. I'm also a mid 20's guy so my opinion may change within the next 15-20 years!

I use a push cart, all my friends now have their own push carts because they saw how well I played not carring around a 6 pack of extra weight. Let your buddy make fun of you, if you enjoy the game with a push. Give it a few rounds and he will see how much better you play than him and he will start using a cart too hahaha. Unless he is super fit and amazing then you will have to suck it up.

When I am close to or around greens I notice my ball never has any spin to make it check up or even when I am taking a full swing with a higher lofted club farther away. Is there some secret to getting the ball to roll back or check up on the green? 

Hello everyone! Just a green recruit over here wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this.
Every time I am near or around the green in scenario's in which I need to chip the ball, I am always wondering what the best wedge in each case would be? I currently have a 52, 56, and 60 degree in the bag. In most cases I always default to the 52 since it should be the easiest club to chip with but I've been wondering if there are clear cut instances in which I should be switching to a different given wedge?
Appreciate all the feedback in advance!

A cart was convenient, easy. Finally, almost three years later after picking up the game my fiancée gifted me a new golf bag with great straps and stand. A major upgrade over my thrifty Goodwill bag! And for the first time in my extremely young golf life, I found my love of the walk. For so long, I always thought a cart was superior and walking was just a hassle. I could not have been more wrong. Who knew a good bag could turn me into such a walking fiend. Besides my own philosophy of walking keeps your legs activated and ready for the next shot I love being outdoors. Although it is more of a pedicured nature walk, I'll take any time when I can hear the birds chirping and the person a hole away swearing at another duffed iron shot. 
I feel like I may be alone in my thinking as a lot of my friends who golf always want to take a cart. What does everyone else prefer?

The best things about golf in my region is that I have a lot of options of different courses in a close area. I also love not sweating through all of my clothes when I can play rounds in the spring and fall! The worst things about golf in my region is that some courses can become very wet even from a slight rain. Oh, and the humidity too! Makes holding onto clubs challenging at times!

I am an Environmental Health Specialist for a local health department

With 2 exceptions my 60* Ping Eye 2 is my go to club 70 yds in, green side rough and bunkers as well. I use the clock system for distance control and bunker and greens side open the face for a high flop shot.

The Two exceptions: a 7i or 8i for bump and roll. A lower lofted wedge - generally a 56* if I have an elevated approach shot from the rough.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing for about ten years, since I was a freshman in high school. My handicap is right around 4 as of now. I had major surgery nearly 5 years ago that still affects my play, but I'm working on getting it back to where it was.
What do you love about golf? First of all, being outside and the camaraderie. Second, I enjoy the fact that golf is an individual sport and that you have no one else to blame for bad play.  
What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I've actually been a MGS reader for years, I just haven't taken the steps to become a full member, which is why I am doing it now.
Where are you from? What is your home course? I moved around quite a bit, but if I had to choose one place, it would be the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As of now I live near Kalamazoo.
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best part is definitely the ability to play reasonably high quality golf courses for a good price as compared to other regions/states. The worst? The weather.
What do you do for a living? As of now I am still in college but I interned as a golf instructor out west for about 9 months in the last year.
How’d you pick your user name? It's my name. Nothing creative, may have to change.

Honestly, any club in the bag will work for chipping. It depends on the scenario and what you want the ball to do.
If I want the ball to get on the green and start rolling quickly, I will use my 52, 9i, or 7i.
If I want the ball to carry over something and land soft, I will use my 56 or 60.

The best thing that has helped me learn is just going and trying different things at the practice green. The fun part and challenging part of the short game is that there is no one "correct" answer, but there are principles that matter. Happy learning!
