  1. Long Story short, Driver used to be the best club in my bag. I have been struggling the last almost 3 years with snap hooks big freaking draws to the point where I would use my 3 or 4 iron to tee off. A few weeks while at the range I decided to choke down on the grip, turn my right foot out just a bit and now my driver has been on fire. I mean I aim and the 90% of the time the ball goes to my indented target and my distance is back if not a little longer. Last week at Bandon I hit probably the longest drive at 380 #8 at Sheep Ranch. We didn't measure it as we all thought I was further right but he ball was dead center of the fairway. Its a dogleg right and the fairway turned more than we thought. I would say my avg distance for the week was closer to 280-290 ish not counting the 380 shot. I am sure there had to be a great kick for it to go that far. Is it possible to get more distance with a shorter shaft? I have a standard shaft length now of 45".
  2. For me It's getting to the course to actually play, getting my wife out to play which in turn I get to play. The rest is what it is. A great day not working, being outside and hanging with my friends. I may never get to a single digit handicap, but I am going to have a lot of fun regardless. Life is too short, enjoy it before you can't.
  3. No multi quote for me. 4 awesome days at Bandon. Weather cooperated and we only one day that was misty with limited sprinkles. I wore shorts everyday and a wind breaker. The wind wasn't bad nothing to crazy, we did have to adjust a few times 2 clubs but it wasn't bad. I did flight the ball down a few times that worked out pretty good. The 699 pros worked awesome and can't say how happy I am I bought these clubs. I'm actually debating not sending them back for different shafts other than my 5 iron needs a tweak. I am not sure its correct angle/degree set. I'm a 16 hdcp going into these 4 rounds. played trails on Thursday, 91 Sheep ranch Friday 88 Bandon Sat 95, Forgot how to chip and putt Pacific Sun 88 According to GHIN I am now at 15.6 Such a fun time and couldn't be happier with 699 pro's. I didn't use a caddie. A few guys did and don't think any of them were named Jack. One guy in our group did have a caddy and I get his number since he's from Portland.
  4. Yes he is at Barksdale. I've mentioned the course on base but he isn't to into that. He thinks there would be to many officers and would rather play off base.
  5. Welcome MGS. Great stuff on the forums and a lot info in the testing section. I am currently test the Callaway White Hot OG #1 putter. Used it at Tri mountain last week. 3 doubles on my way in for a 92 and it wasn't the putters fault or the clubs fault. Bad choices of what shot to hit and poor execution. Welcome in its a good place to bump around.
  6. My son is stationed in Shreveport, LA. We are headed there in a couple weeks to visit him. HE isn’t to much into golf but will go. His mother, sister and all want to play so we are brining the clubs with. Can someone from the area or knowledge of the area recommend a couple decent not ultra expensive courses? Thanks Jeremy
  7. Please don't take my "healthy people" statement as a knock, I didn't mean it as a bad thing in the least. I have zero issues with it, to each their own.
  8. There is a course close to me where the first tee shot requires a carry of a ditch. The lay up area puts you on a downhill lie going into an up hill landing zone. If a new golfer or less skilled or not confident in their game will completely freak out. This is one of 4-5 holes on the course like this. For me it issue, but my wife hates that course and we never go there. The course has tried to change the design some but it is still a dumb design.
  9. We have some healthy people here. This is a good read to see other options of food/beverage types. For me it really depends on the day. I rarely eat on the course as I find it cumbersome and sometimes just a PITA. That said, I will have a protein bar in my bag and hope I remember its there. If I do eat at the turn its whatever ready made sandwich is available and maybe a hotdog, I am not a hotdog fan tho. Drinks vary, I always have water with me since its a habit from living in AZ for 20+ years. Morning is coffee and depending on the day its a bloody Mary or something along those lines. Depending on how the round is going I will have a beer although I don't carry those with me as I like to support the course I am at. Afternoon rounds again depends on the day, but I will water, and most likely 2 barley pops per side. If its a bad round that number goes up and if its really bad a shot of something not whiskey. If I am in a match play situation I most likely will only have water/coffee/Body Armor. Team event, it depends on the team, but more times than not we will have beers. I find this funny as I have a couple of friends that are scratch golfers or plus. One of them is the more he drinks the better he plays and it pisses me off. Birdie bottles, beers, etc. Another is just steady eddy will have a beer or 3 and shoot 72.
  10. Yes, i have been working on flighting the ball down and also working on a controlled draw.
  11. I have more rounds in with 699 Pro's. Man do I like these clubs. Only issue is they flight very high. Sunday's round and the scramble I played in on Tuesday I had more than normal balls plug in the green even with it being pretty wet around these parts. Still my dispersion is better and better shots I know I made the right decision on buying these clubs. If you are on the fence about buying these clubs, feel free to jump over, you won't be disappointed. I have a decision to make tho, I am not positive on the shafts. I had them built with KBS tour 130 shafts. I went and paid for a shaft fitting after I received them and that guy said I should go with Project X LS 6.5/1250. I have talked to Cody and he said no problem changing them out. After Bandon next week I'll decide.
  12. Welcome to the area. I’ve only been in OR 14 years. Transplant from AZ via Wis. meriweather is nice course my likes to go to not only for price but it’s a little more laid back than Some courses and easier for her to play.
  13. If he is still in the area, Anthony Wick helped me a ton. Used to be with Golf tec and then changed location and companies. Last I saw he was at one of the courses in the Beaverton area.
  14. DAMN DUDE, you are my new idol. I want to hit the ball like that at my age let alone 73. Keep it up I've got some work to do.
  15. I have a Titleist U-I5 1 iron. I really like when I an having an off day with the big stick and I also us it instead of a 3 wood. Also when I need to go under branches limbs, or its windy. I also just got (last week), the Sub70 3 Hybrid. Haven't had it on the course yet, but so far on the range its pretty good. Both I feel will serve their purpose. The 1 iron is longer so I now I don't have such a gap from my driver to my 4 iron.
  16. On this day 10/24 in 2021 I woke up. I'm Extremely grateful and blessed I did. Enjoy your rounds today.
  17. Received my 3 hybrid Pro today. Looks pretty snazzy and can’t wait to give it a test ride. Actually it was a great day as I received my OG White Hot putter today as well.
  18. OK I got out the range yesterday. Made sure the face was square at address, long back swing keeping the left arm straight only going to parallel or just past, and really really concentrated on a smooth transition and only what felt like 3/4 speed swing. Also try to hit fade. Seemed to be the correct direction as I felt like the ball was going where it should. A couple of pull shots but they were straight, so not worried about those shots. BUT I had 2 balls left. I was doing pretty good so I decided to put a little extra speed on. Ball one Duck hook , Ball 2, not as bad with a slower speed but still a big hook. Thank you guys for the suggestions. I am back on the right path
  19. If possible, where can I find the weight that is in the bottom of the club that adjusts fade/draw weight setting? Hope that makes sense. With that is it even possible to remove the stock weight and replace with a different weight? I didn't that was a thing until recently, just figured what's there is there. Where can I find these weights? Just to explain a little. My miss is on the toe which we know makes for a draw and sometimes a big ol' hook. Most likely a bad swing on my part but still on the toe doesn't help. thanks for any info.
  20. OK, This is probably a noob question, but I am a person who doesn't tinker much weights and changing things around. Are you talking about the weight in the club head itself? Hope that makes sense and yes I feel the eye rolls through the wires. Not trying to highjack this thread, I just didn't realize I could take the weight out and use a heavier/lighter weight.
  21. Good luck I hope it all works for the best. Back pain blows, my L4-L5 are bulging but as long as I stay on up with stretches and work out as well as keep weight ( haha major struggle) down I’m ok.
  22. I kinda feel this is where I am at. I hit one ball the other day at the range choked down on the club and it was the best shot of the day with the driver. Only went about 230 with a low ball flight but it was straight. I'd take with every drive right now but the fear of a fish hook keeps me using the driver on the course. I've got a few things to try. I know something will work its just a matter of not chucking the thing in the woods first.
  23. Thanks fella, all makes sense. One thing at a time. I've has the same driver for about 5 years. Callaway Epic GBB. I have changed shafts once (well twice now as the one shaft broke) as my swing speed picked up. Hmmm hadn't thought about swing speed being an issue but that came well after the problems started.
