josh.Scott
I’m playing a M1 three wood the 2016 release with a HZRDUS Hulk TX and I find that my spin is extremely low and so is launch (probably due to the shaft) but I very much enjoy the feel of the shaft, does anyone have any suggestions or advice for higher spin and launching three wood heads? I’ve also had the head for a long time and the face is starting to develop that Taylor made rust so I feel like it’s in need of update Quote Dr: Paradym TD/ Tensei ck Orange 3W: M1/ HZRDUS green“hulk” 7W: Ping g20/ UST mamiya Proforce 2i: Sim UDI/ Tour AD YSQ 105 4i-9i: Titleist 2021 T100 Wedges: Assortment of vokeys (SM4, SM6 and SM9) Putter: Home milled prototype putter

Many players have found that they get more carry with one of those instead. The wooden 3-woods, after all, had 17° loft. The modern ones usually have just 15° loft which isn't a lot. They're also referring to 13.5° 2-woods as "strong" 3-woods now. Many manufacturers are hesitant to use even numbers on woods because contemporary players don't remember when they were common. Shrek74
The answer you'll get most often here is "get fit." It's the proper answer, but I realize not everyone has that option or are willing to pay for it. Boomer's idea of a 4-wood (high lofted 3 wood) is a great idea to get a bit more elevation in your flight. I'm likely looking to combine my 3 & 5 into a 4 wood since those two are going about the same distance these days. Another option is looking at other HZRDUS shafts that have a more active tip section, since you like the feel of what you're using now. I was playing the Red RDX in my woods and hybrids and am playing the Blue RDX now and love the HZRDUS line as a whole. Without getting fit the easiest thing I did is go in knowing what I wanted in my game. It just so turned out they had a x stiff hzrds on a ts2 3 wood. Never had crossed my mind that I wanted or (needed) a 3 wood. A lot of people like you said go for the hl3 or even 5 woods now bc 3 woods go to far. You could even try 2 hybrids in spot of 3-5 wood. Plus gives you an excuse to go in to your local shop and hit balls. Josh Parker
KevB_44
Some good advice by the guys suggesting a 4 wood or 16.5 degree FW. I had been playing a TSR2 3 wood (15 degree) and I liked it. Hit is well off of the tee, not bad off of the fairway so sometimes would go 5 wood if shooting from the fairway. My son had a Ping G430MAX 3 wood that he was absolutely lacing from anywhere. I tried it and found it very nice and easier from the fairway than the TSR. I picked one up and after only a few rounds have become a fan of it from the tee or fairway if I need a long carry. Ball flight noticeably higher and if need be you can adjust the adaptor to get more or less loft or flatten the lie angle. I was not fit, just tried it on a weekend and moved in that direction. I think an adjustable adaptor is a must have on a FW Wood or Hybrid. josh.Scott 1 Quote Driver-- TSr 3 -9* (B1) -Fujikura Ventus TR Black 6-X Fairway - - G430Max 15*-Flat, 3 Wood Tour 2.0 Chrome stiff Fairway - - G430MAX 20* (-1, flat) 7 Wood Tour 2.0 Chrome stiff Hybrid - - G430MAX 3 Hybrid (-1, Flat) Alta CB Stiff (looking for a new shaft) UDI- - iCrossover Utility Driving 3 iron (18*, flat) UST Proforce V2 Stiff sometimes -699 Pro 4 -22* Driving Iron UST Proforce V2 Stiff Irons- - ZX4 MK II 5-7, Srixon ZX5 8-P Nippon Pro Modus 3 Tour 105 X-Stiff Wedges- - RTX Zip Core 50*, 54* Nippon Modus 3 Wedge, 58* True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Putter- - ER5v Short Slant Ball- Bridgestone Tour B X Bag- Hoofer Stand Bag Clic Gear 4.0 push cart
CGZIII
I recently picked up TaylorMade Stealth 2 plus 3 wood and I really like how versatile it is for me, the adjustability is cool. I have it paired up with a Ventus blue Velocore 7X shaft and it’s been working well for me. I have actually used the adjustability on it to change my ball flights and spin to adjust to the conditions and it’s been great for me so far. They’re also pretty cheap, you can find them at stores as “demos” for $204, I got mine from Dicks Sporting Goods and I was lucky to find it as a “demo” with the plastic wrapper still on it. I already had the ventus velocore on a previous TaylorMade 3 wood. I hope this helps! josh.Scott 1 Quote Driver: TaylorMade Qi10 9.0 degree, Ventus black 6X 3 Wood: TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Ventus Blue Velocore 7X 3 hybrid: TaylorMade Sim Max, Ventus blue 7X Irons: P770 4-P Wedge Wedges: TaylorMade MG4 50, 54, 58 Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2.0 Ball: TaylorMade TP5 (2024)
slash25rc
Sim 2 3 wood may have been one of the best made in my opinion. I had the HL (16.5) version and recently old it for an Ai Smoke 16.5 4w which pairs well with my G430 7 wood. Wish I would have kept the TM though in all honesty. I preferred the larger cc head on it, but just gotta get used to the new one at this point. josh.Scott 1 Quote Paradym Ai Smoke Max 10.5 Driver; Graphite Design Tour AD-VF 6 S/ IZ 5 S Paradym Ai Smoke Max 3HL 16.5: Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue 65 S G430 7w: Ping Chrome 75 S Gen 2 0811 4H: Fujikura Pro 85 S TSR2 5H: Project X HZRDS Red 85 S 0211 DC 6-G: KBS TGI 80 S CBX 54: Rotex Wedge; CBX2 Zipcore 58: Project X Catalyst Spinner 80 M.Craft OMOI Type 06 ProV1x ; Linksmaster Bag
