Sometimes the slightest fault can explode everything else down the line.  Played Glendoveer West yesterday, my home course.  Felt like I was swinging ok, but managed to duff it a few times.  That's my normal, no sweat.  Tee to approach is not my strong game.

Chipping on the other hand is usually pretty decent, and I couldn't keep myself from hitting the ground most of the time yesterday.  That, or way over hitting it.  Anything within 10 yards was just not getting anywhere close to the flag.  This led to way more putts than I would normally take, including a 4 put on the first hole (sheesh!).

My long game was stronger than I though though, still got a new index score (107) for my handicap and shot well below my normal average (115).  Was "chipping" from 60-70 yards out with my irons and they were getting to where they needed to be.  No more hail mary's with full swing wedges.  Those can backfire. Things are looking up.  The birdie on #4 didn't hurt either.
Getting new clubs this week, can't wait to see if they help tighten things up.

Nice bird!  That's a tough hole, I often lose a ball or two on that one.  The aerial doesn't give the elevation changes justice.

Um, so I spent way too much time at Top Golf in Hillsboro today.  Not a good choice of a place to practice as I have a membership much closer to home where I get free balls after twilight hours.  However, I had reason to be in the area (45 minutes from home) and had to hit while the irons could be hot.  And it's a fun place to try things out with the tracking.

While I spent too much time and $$ there, I got a few things figured out.  I have a much better feel on my short irons and know why I hit left when I have a good full swing.  I was hitting better on target at the end.  It did take me about 2.5 hours to get there.

Also I have much more confidence with driver.  I may put it into play next weekend (3:30 at Glendoveer if anyone local wants to join). I have been keeping this one out of my game for a few months because I couldn't be confident, but after today I think it's likely a good choice to go back.  I can get a good shot at target much farther out than my next biggest club.  I honestly was doing better with D than with the 6.  That shouldn't jive, but it was today.

I'll actually be on that coast in October, but returning on the 16th without any hope of making it back for a while.  Have fun!

Cnosil is onto something. A lot of course management out there now is (Four Foundations, Decade etc...), play driver unless you can find a legitimate reason not to (distance between penalty hazards and distance between bunkers and trees). You can then aim and have your target  (two different things mind you) with the driver dispersion you have and keep cutting strokes.

As well an interesting tweet about curvature and handicap

It usually is.  The bunker is 170y long and 12 yards wide, all the way to the front of the green and wraps around to the right of the green a little too.  There are usually about 12 rakes covering the whole bunker and sometimes they all end up near the green!!  🤣  Think... someone hits their second shot in the bunker near 150y; instead of wedging it out to 100-120y, they try for the green.  Don't make it.  Now they are 10-100y out and try again.  So sometimes there are no rakes to be had in some spots of the bunker.
Today I aimed at the bunker and missed... hit the edge of the green instead.  I aimed at it because I didn't hit anything I aimed at all day.  🤣

I am a weak weak man.  I pushed the button and bought myself a set of these suckers.  They should arrive Wed/Thursday.  When I went to the fitting a month or so ago this setup got me 30 yards on my 7 iron.  I think it's the shafts.  Same head with different shafts got less launch and more dispersion.

Took my daughter to the range to get her out of the house. She was great getting balls for me and chatting. Was the best I hit the ball. Told her my targets and executed. Varied distance with different clubs. Did some shot shaping calibration. Ended up hitting 5 different clubs at a 112 yard flag. Was a lot of fun.

I was just updating my signature and realize that I'm up to 7 different brands in my bag.
This wasn't intentional and just happened. I don't really have much allegiance and don't fault those of you who do; I *wholeheartedly* believe in the play-your-game-whatever-works-for-you concept.

This is my <current LOL!> breakdown:
    TourEdge (driver)
    Cobra (3W)
    Callaway (SuperHybrid)
    Titleist (hybrid)
    Srixon (irons)
    Cleveland (wedges)
    Bettinardi (putter)

There is no right or wrong answer to this question, but out of curiosity, how many brands have you used or are using at one time?
