Looks to me like Mickelson was correct, The PGA has been holding money back from the players. I guess Monahan decided to react and start spending some of it.

At any rate I think tour leadership botched this entire thing by failing to listen to disgruntled players. 
 
I think Tiger and the top 60 are providing more bullets for Liv to fire in court, Liv can say why has the tour copied Liv limited numbers and bigger purses if the PGA tour is so good?

the liv tour should not try and get college players as they do not have to play under the pressure as pga players , liv should go after the top 5 korn ferry players as these guys know how to play under a lot of pressure trying to make the top 25 , a lot of them don't have 2 nickels to rub together and a lot of them may sleep in their cars , if liv can get 4-5 kft players and 4-5 very good pga tour guys every year for 4-6 years the pga tour/liv tour would be very close , then things would get very interesting .
i am a big fan of shotgun starts as everyone plays under the same conditions , as far as the points system i'm sure they can find a fair way to award them , this is not rocket science .

i think in 3-4 yrs liv will be at 72 players to fill up the 18 hole shotgun starts  , also in 4-5 yrs many liv player contracts will be over and liv will have removed the also rans , to the kft players that could be had for $5 million each that's a lot of money to them and is chump change saudia deep pockets .

can you tell me some of phil's lies , also the pga sold the media rights for $8.5 billion , like i said the media in archives is forth a big number so phil's $20 billion is not too far off .. 

thanks for telling me , look at my 1st line  , as far as the play 15 i'm thinking about the ones that don't play 15 ., as far as what the pga is planning for years i don't know as i am not at their meetings  , i think mickelson knows a lot more about the pga   worlings than any member of this forum , as far as the LIV giving money to local charities i said " liv big shots " , i did not say guys as i have no idea how much the liv players give to foundations/charities .

What changes do you think the PGA tour should make to keep top tier golfers from defecting to the LIV Tour?  I do believe that the PGA Tour need to make some concessions to help the players, but appearance/signing fees are not one of them as top tier players may only need to show up.  The following are only my suggestions and others may have better ones
1.  Increase the purses, which will allow for more places to be payed, and more for each player.
2.  Reduce number of tournament players from the typical 144 more or less to 120, giving more players a chance to win prize money to offset the money payed for entry fees, travel to and from sites, food, lodging, caddies and other related cost.
3.  Expand cut lines from approx. 70 and ties to 80 and ties to allow for more players to recover expenses.  When they miss the cut the expenses they incur are not reimbursed.  Some have huge sponsors, but most players have limited sponsorships.
If the PGA does not make some changes, I believe there will be a domino effect.  If the top tier golfers are not present at PGA tournament sites, I believe the TV coverage/revenue will eventually be reduced. Spectator admissions, merchandise and food sales will be less.  With no big names volunteer support will be slightly less.  City/town revenue will be reduced as result of less spending by spectators, players and others that support tour events.  Charities will receive less donations.  If that keeps up the LIV may become the dominate tour and the PGA tour will fade.
Let's see how the others out there think how this should be resolved after a round of golf with your buddies.

The PGA Tour continues to believe they are the end all be all of golf. They have failed in the past and continue to fail to realize they are an entertainment arm and nothing more.

Hmmm. Not sure I agree with this statement. As far as I’m aware, they are suing the tour so they can get back on the tour. I don’t think they are asking for damages (I would like to know if I am wrong on this part). Other than them potentially getting back on tour (I don’t think this happens), the guys currently on the tour will not be impacted in any way. I don’t believe they were each named individually on the lawsuit. In general, when you get sued, you have some skin in the game. Their opinions don’t count as skin in the game and even if they were to receive damages, the Tour wouldn’t really be affected in any meaningful way. They have insurance and deep pockets.

no matter what i think of a tour golfer i wish - scottie -rory -b. horschel - spieth had made the cut ., i do like to watch them play .
watch out for thomas , super golfer and very smart .

one cheats in sand traps
one tries to cheat his caddie
one has zero class

i will have to check , i would guess it has happen many many times before 

i think the tour would have never increased the payouts as much as they have if the liv had never happened ., the tour is for sure taking great care of the best players , not so much for the avg players , if a player makes the 72 cut and finishes in the middle ( 36 ) he gets around 60k , of he comes in at 72 he gets around 20k , after taxes and other costs not that much left .
i can see liv buying 7 or 8 of the good tour players before the end of the year, they do have deep pockets , also every year getting at least 7 or 8 good players from the tour or other tours ..
the only way this mess can be fixed is both side talking to each other , if not golf will suffer a lot and the only winners  will be the lawyers , 
i would have both pga/liv put up 5 players each to have meetings and fix this mess , the none players on both sides do not care as much for the golf tours/players as they do about their jobs , if they did this would have solved it 2 months ago , now it's just a p****** contest .
i would put tiger to be the leader of the pga people and phil for the liv people .
