  1. Those are great numbers! I admit I am jealous. I bet you lose very little yardage if you cut the shaft down bc you will hit center, as @azstu324 says. Isn’t the MP a great shaft? I am amazed at how solid it feels despite the L flex.
  2. Good morning, Spies! Enjoying my first cup of coffee. I drink it sweet with cream usually, and today the cloud effect of the cream was just the coolest. It's the small things. It's a big productivity push today for work before FABWIFE and I get dudded up for a formal event tonight with friends and coworkers (also friends). It will be a long night to cap off a long week, but should be a good time. I hope the skies clear in the northeast, the weather and gathering at Pinehurst is perfect, and everyone reading this gets an Ace this weekend (me included). Happy Friday!
  3. Good morning, Spies! Congrats on the good news @Rickp! Off to the gym and a crazy workday. It’s good to be busy. Did the scheduled speed training last night. Other than that, no golf for me until maybe the weekend. Sad but true. Have a great day all!
  4. My Sussex is still holding up after 9 rounds, and has not faltered yet! I like it so much I just subscribed to get the Scots Silver on a regular basis, at least until the Sussex is commercially available.
  5. I have not yet taken the plunge on an entire kit, but I am testing a 7 iron Maltby TS3 that I had built to my specs by Golfworks. It arrived quickly, exactly as ordered, and they even called to discuss swing weight with me to ensure I was getting what I wanted before building it out. After a bad spring fitting, I am on my second iron set this season (Miura CB-57s I acquired from FB MP), and results are mostly positive thus far. That said, the TS3 is a touch longer and has slightly better dispersion and accuracy than my current gamer CB-57. I really, really don't want to get a third set of irons this year, so I am giving the CB-57s plenty of time to work out. But I can say unequivocally that I am extremely impressed by the TS3 iron, and if the CB-57s do not work out for me, I will be ordering the TS3 in a complete set. They are just that good. Excellent turf interaction and soft feel. Marvelous. If they had a big brand name on them I think they would be a prominent bestseller.
  6. Good morning, Spies! A busy workday for me, and looks like it will be for the near future. It's good to be busy! Wishing you all a super Wednesday.
  7. Thx @azstu324. I think I can reduce the launch angle either by aiming less behind the ball (Rahm style) or reducing the loft by 1° with the adjustable adapter. That is a good suggestion. I tested with a low spinning ball already - the Vice Pro Soft. I may repeat the test with a pro V1 or even the AVX, although I have not traditionally been a fan of that ball. Thank you for all the good input and suggestions!
  8. I had the chance to test the MP5 40-L shaft against the GWX 50-A, and my old gamer the Fujikura MotoreX F1 6-S. Both the Otto-Phlex shafts are the same length (I think 44.25"); the Fuji is +1". Based on these results and some range work earlier this week, as I suspected I was able to squeeze out more distance from the MP5 over the GWX. I did not suspect the difference would be 7 yards, or that the dispersion of the longer MP5 would be far superior to the GWX. Here is the data (limited sample size, but I cut out a few awful swings (not the club's fault) and I was getting tired after also comparing some irons and checking some distance gaps): I failed to capture it graphically, but the dispersion of the MP5 was by far the tightest. For that reason, it appears to be superior to the 2nd best Fuji. I have no desire to trade significantly more dispersion for an additional 3 yards. Interestingly, carry yards were longer outdoors. I adjusted the elevation on the Foresight to match local conditions. Different balls, wind, temperature, etc., I suppose. I still want to test the Fuji against the MP5 at the same length. So I will cut down the Fuji and see if it can keep the better distance and match the MP5's tight dispersion, and I suppose then I will have my gamer. Both the Otto-Phlex MP5 and the non-Otto-Phlex Fuji are easy to hit. I hope this is helpful to others choosing OP shafts. P.S. My nerd status is now official. And if you were wondering, the negative sidespin numbers mean left spin; positive sidespin numbers mean right spin.
  9. Very topical @David Leighton Reid! Funny too!
  10. Congratulations Testers!! This is an excellent test. As an occasional walker, and user of a pushcart, it is not intuitive to me what makes one cart superior to another. Looking forward to this test, learning about carts, and results!
  11. Good morning, Spies! Morning workout and coffee are already in the books this morning. Now getting ready for a busy workday. FABWIFE gifted me the Rypstick and radar yesterday as an early Father’s Day gift, and I started training and baseline setting yesterday. At 52 y.o., I am curious to learn if I can build some speed and distance. Likely no golf for me today. I hope the rest of you have better golfing plans and score well! Wishing you a Super Tuesday!
  12. Thanks to the MGS coupon and suggestion, I just received the Rypstick and radar today as an early Father's Day present. FABWIFE really is fab! Some initial impressions: Like you, @rfasian, I got some false readings. But those did not affect my actual readings. I swing slower with the Rypstick thank I do with my driver. Probably a flex thing. Building in lag - which for me means getting my hips and knees going earlier and hands behind -- seems to make about a 4-5 mph difference in swing speed. I swing slower than I thought I did. I maxed out with my driver at 98 mph, but that was after the entire warm up and workout. I intend to check it earlier in the process next time. lt also makes no sense given the distances I have been able to achieve lately. I am wondering about whether the data will sort itself out on that front over time. I am glad I have been focusing on fitness previously. I worked up a sweat swinging that hard. Non-dominant (lefty for me) swings feel super weird! The counter-balance weight kept falling off. After I nearly lost it, I epoxied it on. I recognize that may pose a challenge when I change the grip, but . . . will cross that bridge when I come to it, I suppose. I am eager to see if this actually helps. BTW - This is yet another aspect of my game that I hope to improve thanks to suggestions from all you awesome folks at MGS -- mods, posters, etc. Thank you!
  13. Good morning, Spies! It’s back to work for me today. Hoping to have a productive day writing. Wishing you good luck on the course @GolfSpy_APH and @Triple_Putt! And hope your day is smooth sailing from here @sirchunksalot!
  14. I am surprised to say that I am getting 10-20 yards more carry when compared to the Rogue ST Max LS, which I attribute to less spin and a lower, more piercing ball flight. I had another range session yesterday and was able to consistently carry 270 into a slight wind and dispersion was essentially the same as the Rogue. Dispersion is most important to me also. If I get a decent swing on the Paradym at all, I find it surprisingly forgiving. Even toe hits are on target. Bad swings are bye-bye, but that was true with the Rogue too. This is based on two range sessions and two very easy fairway-seeking swings on course (both found fairway at 250 yards). More on-course testing is clearly needed. I found moving the heavier weight to the front of the head did not negatively affect dispersion. The GWX 50A shaft still seems best for me. Dispersion is much better than with the Fuji MotoreX F1 60S. I have not yet tested the Fuji with the Paradym. That’s next. The MP 50L did not yield more distance in limited testing, but was equally long while feeling more “boardy.” It seemed to have a lower trajectory than the GWX, which means I need to tinker with settings. It may be lower spinning too, so …? I think I need to take them both to the Superstore sims and compare bc there may be more to squeeze out of the MP. Hooe that helps @Bang60!
  15. Today I worked on chilling and bunker shots for about 45 mins, then hit a large bucket, focusing on irons then testing a few different driver shafts. It was quite productive.
  16. Good morning, Spies! it’s a gorgeous day in Brown County, IN. I already snuck in 9 holes at the local Salt Creek. Played the back 9 in 1:20 and logged a 40. It’s very tight, pretty short, a few blind tee shots, and only two driver holes. Charitably, it’s tricky. I am very happy with the score, but regret my two bladed wedges which cost me a score in the 30’s. Headed home to pick up FABWIFE and start our Saturday. I wish you all a fabulous weekend!
  17. I hit the Paradym 9° with the GWX 50 A shaft yesterday, and BOOM! 290-300 repeatedly when set at -1D. That’s crazy long for me. I want to dial it in to ensure I can control it consistently, but this is very encouraging. I plan to build the MP 50 L this week and try that too. Will report in after.
  18. Not an official tester, but I picked up a Paradym on EBay and hit it for the first time yesterday at the range. I am not a 300 hitter - at least I wasn’t. Apparently I am now! Low launch, low spin, and LONG! Wow. Really looking forward to the reviews.
  19. Good morning, Spies! I have to say, I dig the 4-day work week. Ready for the weekend for certain. Love the bag @Kenny B! It looks great. Happy birthday @BKervin! Enjoy it! I am sad to say I have no game lined up for this weekend. Will work on it. If anyone is in or near Indy and wants to play Sunday hit me up! I swear I am nicer in person. (Do I sound desperate? I'm not. Really. Truly. No, really.) Have a great weekend everyone!
  20. I was always taught to hit from the side of the tee box closest to the trouble you want to miss, i.e., aim away from. That means you have to miss bigger to find the trouble you are trying to avoid. I also know my misses are usually to the right, so I find myself often on the right side of the tee box, aiming leftward in the fairway, for the same reason (if I'm not trying to work the ball a certain way).
  21. Good morning Spies! Hoping to pick up my reshafted irons today for the second time, and try them out in tonight’s lesson. The first time the builder’s younger colleagues got over-eager and regripped them before they were cut down, so back to the shop they went. Fingers crossed these are the ones for me. FABWIFE and I had an alarming encounter with one of the most vile people on the planet the night before last. Sparing you the details, discretion and valor and whatnot, but it is truly amazing what some people believe, the hate in their hearts, and what they will say and do when grappling with their own demons, insecurities, and intoxicants. Suffice it to say, it was bad in many facets, for a prolonged period with a grand disastrous conclusion, on an epic scale - and FABWIFE was still shaken, sad, and upset last night. It was tough to experience in real time, and it’s tougher to see her deal with the emotional impact. May you never have one of these experiences. So, I unloaded that on you, eh? Not to bring you down, just to marvel at a fellow (alleged) human. It sounds like a beautiful day for most of you. Enjoy your golf trip, @OdinSnipes414! Hope you all get some golf in, and have a stupendous day!
  22. Thanks @Vernon! I plan to try the MP also. And @azstu324 I am going to join your bandwagon. I found a Paradym 3D for a good price, and plan to put it with the MP (L) and GWX (A) shafts to try. As you suggested, it will look great with the MP shaft. And? I plan to use one of these to complete the look, which I am passing on in case you are similarly inclined. https://www.amazon.com/Gofotu-Adapter-Sleeve-Compatible-Callaway/dp/B086C1FGF9/ref=sr_1_16?keywords=callaway+adapter&qid=1685551748&sr=8-16
