  1. Knowing your distances is key as well as knowing dispersion patterns and being able to make good contact. I know and understand these things and can do them in controlled environments. The problem is the bad shot that happens on the course. When we hit that shot when getting fitted or calculating distances we call It an outlier and delete it. On the course it still counts. I carry this in my pocket for distance references. I need to update it based on swing improvements and new clubs.
  2. And this is another issue...terminology. The ping app doesn’t measure the path on which the putter travels which is the normal definition for arc. The ping app measures putter head rotation.
  3. The simple answer is Covid and that nothing is like it has been in the past. Suppliers of raw components provide dates and based on those dates other dates are generated. When the first date shifts all the others do. The potential issue with not offering things for sale if they aren’t available is that people will go elsewhere or it come back and purchase. You bought and are not asking for a refund; win for supplier. They hope most people do that. Not saying that I agree but companies need sales to stay in business and shutting down won’t be an option.
  4. I don’t think that is what@Haro is describing. The method you describe still has a single aimpoint that happens to be on the zero break or fall line. Unlike aimpoint the point you are aiming to is on that line. This is what Geoff magnum taught and was the method used in Vector Green Reading. Aimpoint users a point left or right of the hole that generally doesn’t like on the fall line. Subtle differences but different approaches. @Haro is indicating he wants to see curved lines and does on right to left putts. On left to right he has to visualize 2 straight lines; one that goes from ball to apex and one that goes from apex to hole. These are two different green reading approaches.
  5. Been a bit slack in my practice; lazy and weather. I need to get some video of my short game swing to send to my coach. Been getting a little full swing work in as part of most wanted testing. I have adjusted my setup to get my path a bit more neutral. Have moved from the 6 degree range to about 3 degrees. Face control is better as well. Seems to be paying off as I have hit a few more greens and have had less offline approaches the past couple of weeks. The nice thing about better approach shots it that it takes pressure off the short game. Instead of the 30y pitches due to fat shots, I am hitting shots from more around the green and can use 9 irons to have a shorter more controlled swing. Wrapping up most wanted testing for the year on Wednesday so I will try and go in and do some intense short game work.
  6. Probably a lot. putter fitting is a strange thing and people get really tied to putters. They will agree that full swing and wedges need fitting but disagree with the putter. I just like you have the face a bit open at impact. Some great putters are feel players and knowing the details of their stroke would mess with their head. Ben Crenshaw never wanted to be fit for a putter or know his "numbers" and he was a decent putter.
  7. Heard about this and yes, I do this occasionally but not always as effective as I would like. I am also choking down on my short irons for pitches and chips to try and get more control.
  8. Okay then just switch to one of the others in your closet.
  9. People who say they are SBST most likely have a slight arc since SBST is almost impossible without manipulation. I have a left biased stroke (what you call a “cut”) and it has an arc. You can also be biased to the right. Additionally I would bet that some of those not fitted follow the mentality that the are “feel” players and that a fitting would mess them up.
  10. If it were just spending time playing/talking golf and not lessons then playing/talking everytime. I love volunteering as a standard bearer or walking scorer at professional tournaments which has allowed me to spend lots of time on the course with the pros (Symetra, LPGA, and Senior PGA) and just talking to them and their caddies is a blast. During on the the Symetra rounds we drove carts and one of the players instructors rode with me and i got to hear amazing insight into the golf swing and what he saw from the pros in the group I was scoring. The concern about an hour lesson would be how much would I actually get out if the lesson. Probably wouldn’t change much of anything other than a small Tweak.
  11. I am going with the coach. I would say they are better equipped to communicate with you. Just because you are good at something doesn’t mean you can teach some how to do that thing.
  12. I’ll go a little down the mike Adams teaching route on this. Power is generated via a combination of vertical, lateral, and rotation forces. Depending on which on you use more is based on your swing dynamics. Bryson and JT/Bubba simply swing the club differently. Just guessing but JT would rely on vertical forces more that Bryson who is more rotational.
  13. Someone asked Phil Kenyon this question on Instagram. Will be interesting to see his response. The comment was in reference to a post about people trying multiple grips.
  14. I am sure the mods will get them shortly.
  15. Generally the recommended advice is to get clubs designed for him. It isn’t just flex but the overall weight of the components. That said, people have been cutting down full size clubs for years and having their kids learn.
  16. They are beautiful and feel great. It is nice that people on here recognize the brand. Guys I played with had never heard of Honma and I think they believe they aren’t the quality of the mainstream well known OEMs. Kind of like a conversation I had earlier this year with someone on my company golf team and i have seen someone else post on here. I hit a good shot with my driver and get asked what kind of club it is which I say ping G400 max. He then asks what kind of shaft am I playing to which I say it is the KBS wood shaft and he responds with I mean what flex. Always fun seeing the response Of non equipment people.
  17. My instructor has been helping me with full swing based on Mike Adams approaches. To me it makes perfect sense that the different grips that Mike discusses would apply to putting as well. I am a side on golfer and my grip is pretty close to what David is indicated a side on golfer should do.
  18. Maiden voyage for my new Honma irons. 38/40:78 2 bogies and 2 doubles. Only hit 6 fairways but the misses were mostly just in the rough. Couple of bad tee shots with one ending up with a penalty stroke. Irons were fabulous; hit 12 greens, 1 was just off, and 1 was about 7 feet off. Need to add the 11 (gap) iron to the set. Shafts might be a little light but the clubs performed very well. My original thought was that these clubs were going to be about a club shorter than my Srixon's. In reality, I was getting about the same distance. The only green I missed on the front was one that I hit long.
  19. While you could buy a specialized mat, some driveway markers/alignment sticks would help with your setup and swing direction. Adam Young posted a 3 day challenge to help with center face contact, low point, and swing depth. You can probably still sign up here: https://www.adamyounggolf.com/3-day-golf-challenge/ You can work verify launch angle by putting a target at different heights and hitting the target. The net is to prevent golf balls from going places they shouldn't so you could do the ladder challenge
  20. Basic club repair type things and since I am guessing you are considering them as a "classic" set of clubs to have fun with. I would cut down the wedge, extend the 5i, and then put on some inexpensive new grips. You can try sandpaper, but it they are dry rotted that probably won't make a lot of difference. Hireko has grips in the $2.00 range.
  21. It would still fit one of those types, yours would be tilted to the left if you are a right handed golfer.
  22. Below are a couple of threads that talk about grips you can find using search. My preference is to use a single rain glove in hot humid conditions.
  23. Interested in hearing how these work out for you. I have been doing pressure shifts the old fashioned way....balance board. Seeing these videos and the Adam Young article gives me a better understanding on how I should be moving.
  24. I liked this one as well. It provides points in the swing and associated pressure.
