  1. Just had to look and was thinking "What is he up to now?" Veeerrrryyyy interesting
  2. I did like Badger stated for a couple of times. I had grown to hating golf because I was trying to play it for a living. Then I got in the trucking business. Got out of the trucking business paid up my PGA dues and worked at a friends course for a while. Ended up racing dirt track cars for a few years or so. Ended up moving here to the beach 13 years ago and took it back up and been doing it ever since
  3. I know a guy down here that has competed in the Remax series and he says that Hamm is bogus
  4. I take it you have hit the mini tours again. I would have made a comeback this week but I got the dates screwed up and did not enter. Next weekend got some folks coming down from N Carolina and Tennessee we are going to play a small Nassau and skins game. Will probably play a mini event in 2 weeks
  5. Played late yesterday afternoon at my home course walked 18. I was fortunate enough to be invited to play with some pretty accomplished players. One is the director of golf for the group of courses that my course is in. The other one is a little older than me but is a hell of a player. He has won quite a few State Amateur senior tournaments and the Mayor's Cup in Myrtle Beach 2 or 3 times. The other gentleman I met for the first time he was from Chicago but is moving here and he is a good player. All these guys could play. I kept my ego in check and played my game (which is good for me) I did not have my A game but probably my B game but I hung in with them. The Am champ only beat me by a couple and I barely edged the other 2 by a stroke or so. Like I said I did not have my A game but shot 75. This is the first time in years I had to knuckle down and play with some great players. But I stuck to my game and used my brain and not my balls. The Am champ is older than me and was out driving me 10 yds or so but I kept my ego in check and did not try to out drive him all day. I did let it out on the last hole and blew it past them in the fairway. Missed one fairway all day with the driver but it was only in the light rough. Pretty good day for me mentally
  6. Played yesterday in the wind and cold on a pretty tough course that is wide open to the wind. the greens were dried out due to the wind but putted smooth as a pool table. these greens are always fast but were extremely difficult due to the wind moving the ball when putting. they definetly would not hold a mid iron shot. The 9th hole which is a tough par 5 the wind was blowing so hard that it knocked my ball off the tee 3 times before I could tee off. I shot 42 40- 82 and felt extremely lucky to do so. I had a good ball striking day for me but had problems hitting and holding greens due to the wind. There is a lot of water and hazards on the course but I never hit the water. played the same ball for all 18 holes. I was pleased with my performance overall though. To let you know how tough this course is they play US Open sectional qualifiers here
  7. I got up this morning and clicked on MGS and saw this and thought "what has Rookie got now?" Always interesting
  8. That sounds deadly. I fired up the box this morning and saw that you had posted and I thought What has he got now?
  9. Well welcome we are glad to have you. We might be old and cranky but we are good company I think
  10. The MacGregor Colorkromes also had a copper inlay and some of the custom "Tour Blades" had that also. I have a set of Colorkromes and a set of custom Tour Blades. The Tour Blades came straight out of the custom grind department and except for the markings look like the Colorkromes. Do not know the history on that particular set of Tour Blades I picked them up at a yard sale some years ago and the lady running the sale said that they were some her late husband had laying around with about 100 other clubs so I have no idea who they were built for
  11. I always liked the Hogan equalizer wedges in fact I still have a couple I preferred them over anything but the spalding elite 10 iron at one time I was carrying Top Flite Irons and Hogan wedges Even though I liked the Hogan wedges I never cared for the rest of the irons
  12. My friend that I grew up with and have played golf with for 40 years or so has played Ram Tour grinds for years I scrounged him up 2 sets a few years ago finally he has worn all of them out and about 6 months ago switched to Bridgestone J-33 combos. When he first started playing his dad bought him a set of Bristols which were made by Ram from my Dad and since the 70s he had always played the Ram Tour Blades. Not knocking them but I never could hit them but he hated Spaldings and MacGregors also so different strokes for different folks. Wilson had a strong dominance in the Charlotte NC area when I was growing up and had a distribution warehouse there for all their athletic equipment. My old man was a Macgregor man and then went with Wilson when his buddy the sales rep switched to Wilson. He also liked Spalding because at the time they had the best custom and forging dept in the golf industry
  13. I am not going to do a poll because I realize there are a bunch of different age groups on here and guys like RP ,Kimbrell,Rev and myself have been playing longer than a lot of you and some of the clubs we have hit some of you have never seen much less hit. This is for pure forged blades Heres My top 5 1-- Mizuno MP-33 2 Power Bilt Citation 66-67 models 3- Spalding Top Flite Bird on Ball 66 67 models 4- Macgregor VIP 70 model 5- Macgregor Colorchrome custom circa 75-77 I know I am a Macgregor man but this is really my honest opinion for me
  14. I know a little late but congrats on the birth of your daughter. I just learned how to work this feature of this board

  15. I know I deal with them all the time at the wrecker company not employees but the general public the drunks and crackheads who get arrested and their cars impounded. The real MB has become a cesspool of drunks and crackheads. One of the reasons I have semiretired

  16. I believe you know your Bourbon. Back when I really consumed it was Jim Beam or George Dickel. as much as I used to drink I have never had Scotch but one time and I don't remember if it was ok or not. Give me my Bourbon and PBR because after all I am a Redneck
  17. I Had forgotten about the old B-61 until you mentioned it. There was a rumor in the late 60s early 70s that some of the 8802 putters were made from a different grade and type of steel and that there were a few made in that lot and they were outstanding but there was no sure fired way to tell them apart perhaps yours was one of them. I hate that it was stolen
  18. Ping Zing currently in bag Ping Anser MacGregor IM-5 ironmaster
  19. Damn I am an old fart but I like that song that might have got my competitive juices going well would have loosened me up anyhow seriously i can see both sides of the story if I was playing in a serious competition etc it might would bother me but playing a casual round i would probably think it was funny Personally I would not play music on the course out of consideration of others but golf and society has changed
  20. I use an Infiniti staff bag (got free) except when I walk which is rare these days. If I travel I use my Clevland stand bag because they dont make car trunks like they used to
