  1. I went to a Titleist fitting and ended up purchasing the 505 utility club. FedEx says its going to be delivered today but someone has to sign for it Unfortunately i have to work for a living to keep up with my golf adic..... commitment Also, I took the plunge and purchased a FullSwing Kit launch monitor - ready to take on the Ohio winter !
  2. THE Ohio State Buckeyes - Its been a rough few games for the offense, but when the Buckeyes lose a top 2 draft pick at QB and the current QB has probably had under 100 snaps in his career it can be a slow start. But we reload, we dont rebuild! We expect greatness in the state of Ohio!
  3. I love the match play format. I can understand wanting to give the person that is at the top an advantage but a 10 shot lead seems, a bit much IMO. If Scottie putts just 3% better, he's unbeatable with that kind of lead.
  4. I have always struggled with putting - so much so that at one point I purchased 3 putters in a single year and I live in Ohio, it snows about 6 months of the year.... I found an aimpoint video, I believe it was Adam Scott's video and took what I could from there. Over the years, I learned more and more about it and it has helped my putting tremendously. I personally think green reading is the most important part of putting, right above pace. Aimpoint, while takes a little bit on the green, is a tool that I would suggest everyone at least try for a season.
  5. I'm glad someone brought up the golf ball sack bag - I received one for a white elephant gift and its hilarious - That are pink iron covers are perfect.
  6. There is no shame in having anxiety and feeling pressure, everyone goes through some form of that or another. We had a mental coach in college and finding a routine is huge. So much so, the team would write them down, then speak them outloud, then we would practice them. The other piece that has always stuck with me is to focus on something small (like a chip, or dot on your club shaft), and take a deep breath. Secondly, what the coach taught our team was "putting it out there" with affirmations. If you say something about yourself long enough, it will become true. Just like you have focused so much on your nerves and anxiety that it has caused you to sell clubs, probably lose sleep, and feel like you don't want to play golf - what if you flipped that around and affirmed yourself - Could be anything - "I am great" - "I am bigger than failure" I hope that you find something that helps buddy and wish you the best.
  7. I do not partake, but I have quite a few buddies that do, some on a daily basis - as most answers it seems "to depend" I have friends that booze until they about fall over during their swing and I have friends that smoke and sit in their cart the entire time. Others, they can function. Almost seems to be a moderation and tolerance question. But, I would have to guess that it has somewhat of an effect on your game. Practically everything does - hydration, food, THC, alcohol, tobacco.
  8. I have played Blue 7x in a driver, and a Black 7x TR in my new driver - I really liked the blue there was nothing wrong with it, but the Pro Tour Spec 2.0 gave me a better dispersion so I played that for about a year and a half maybe 2. I also put a tour spec 8x in my 3 wood over Ventus. But, I just got a new driver, and was fitted for the Black and its awesome - it has all but damn near eliminated my big left miss (which is exactly what I told the fitter I wanted) it launches lower than the other shafts I played - the TR makes me want to try axiom now...
  9. Its interesting to see the various takes on the new release from everyone! I watched the TXG (now club champion Canada) video on the new irons and it was really good information IMO - I would suggest checking the video out. I have never played Titleist irons, and never had the want to even try them, so I am the furthest from a "buy the brand" (look at my WITB, I rock 4 brands, 5 including the ball) - But the T100 and 150's have intrigued me. I admit some of it is the influence on the video above^ but what got me was the miss hits you'll see on trackman don't lose a lot of spin therefore the mishits aren't as punishing. I also think that it isn't really fair to say that a new club doesn't have innovation or that your blades from 1995 are better - What defines better? Distance, forgiveness, accuracy, turf interaction, less punishing on mishits, MOI changes.. I think that's why MGS has a bunch of different categories they test. Also, if you have played the same clubs for that long, know exactly what their feel is, exactly how far you hit a perfect shot, a thin shot, a fat shot etc - then hit 20 balls with the T100 7 iron and say "these suck", Idk - if that's a qualifier. I am excited to at least hit the new clubs. I think they look great, but it'll come down to feel and performance for me. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
  10. I think this might be a minority opinion because people either seem to love or hate him but I wanna say my favorite is Brooks Koepka - Max Homa is a close second for me.
  11. I have been thinking about this idea for a few years and with the Ryder Cup coming up I figured this would be the best time to throw it out there. I think an event where the men's team and the women's team merge and play an international event would be awesome to watch. Obviously not to replace the Ryder Cup, and not even to replace the Presidents Cup, but have a similar format to that, maybe in the same year as the Presidents Cup. To watch Lexi Thompson, and Nelly Korda, Danielle Kang, etc team up with Brooks, and Scottie, Speith, etc I think would be entertaining to watch. And maybe you do make it USA vs the World - So Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko with Rory, and Rahm. The format, and the course length, etc would all have to be worked out details wise, but I am sure they could figure that out quite easily. I think it could grow the game, it would certainly grow the LPGA tour. Would this be something anyone else would watch, or too far fetched?
  12. I am actually joining a club this week - Every round I have ever played as been on a public course, and while some have been nice courses, some have not been. I feel that with a private course, they should (I cant confirm yet) be in better shape and better taken care of. There is more of a pride in your club, rather than a random at the local muni - The practice range and facilities also was a huge factor for me. I spend a ridiculous amount of money on range balls per year - this is at least built into my fees and I will certainly get my moneys worth. Believe me, I love public golf and think there should be more access to golf rather than less. But, I do think there is a higher likelihood of your game improving after joining a club rather than public only... This doesnt account for the social aspect of clubs which can be great for some.
  13. I have done 5 total fittings in my life- Driver fit at a CC, then an iron, driver, and putter fitting at a top rated Club Fitter in my State. The CC fitting I came out with a PXG and a Fuji Speeder - but I didn't feel comfortable with it, wasn't super consistent and I sold it within the year - I had the choice to not buy the club of course, but I felt like I was there, I needed a driver, and it was the best I could do. The other fittings, 3 out of the 4 were great - the only one that I came out with a club I also got rid of within the year was a center shafted putter - Again, the caveat to that was I had gone through about 3 putters in 2 years, and was struggling bad on the greens. I was desperate, and went with it. So it certainly feels like a waste of money, but I am as much to blame for the situation.
  14. The way that I look at music might be different than most (an d maybe unpopular)- I think the allowance of music helps grow the game. If we are being totally honest, not many teenagers or even 20 year olds are playing for "the sounds of nature" - I think the relaxation of music on the course rules helps the stigma of golf is a stuffy, rules and regulation, Country club sport. Now, is that right, wrong, social problems, culture problems, those damn millennials and zoomers? That's all up for debate, but in general I think its spot on. I also think that playing music can be done tastefully. For example, if I want to play music I always ask my playing partners, and have the volume down. Then just have to use common sense if on the tee box, or near a green - press pause. Be respectful. Final point is, I think it depends on what type of round you are playing. Are you playing with someone that really wants to go out and shoot their best score and be competitive? Are you playing with the boys and having a few cold ones and having fun? Money on the line? All these things matter IMO and common sense should rule.
  15. After watching quite a few of No Laying Up videos a few years ago I decided I wanted to give walking the course a chance - I found it to be a much more enjoyable version of the game (and cheaper depending if the course has walking fees). It lets you see the course architecture in a different way, and learn the course better. I find it to be faster as well - you aren't spending 5 minutes searching for your partners ball that you know went OB but they swore their slice was really a "fade" just because you are along for the ride. I do think you lose some comradery walking if your buddies arent walking too, but its still worth it.
  16. It does have the same milling - but according to TM the Hi-Toe has higher center of gravity to reduce the peak flight - makes sense why I like the Hi - Toe, Im not sure my ball flight could get higher
  17. The local range that I have been frequenting on my lunch breaks is $8 for 40 balls - Well enough for an hour practice session - Another range that I've been to $7 for about 40 balls but is mats only and is normally packed to the point where you might have to wait to get a bay.
  18. Its about time that I replace my wedges - I have been playing the TM Hi-toe for a couple years now and have really seen my wedge game improve. But with MGS most wanted wedge being the Milled grind, I might make a change and try one out.
  19. Hey Mike! Welcome... Have you played the Virtues Club? Formally known as Longaberger?! One of my favorite courses - a few friends and I take a weekend trip down and play a couple rounds there.
  20. @MaxEntropy @MattF Yes! I'm definitely in once this weather clears up! Hoping for a couple 50 degree days soon - get some outside range work in ! I play Sable quite a bit, really awesome course.. Not as tree lined as Windmill.
