I started the coals at about 5:50am. I started getting clean smoke at around 6:30 when I put the brisket on the grill. Pulled it off at 5pm and let it rest for about 90 minutes before cutting. Trimmed it the night before which took half an hour or so, so in total about 15 hrs give or take. Thanks! That's good to know, I thought it was an indication that I did something right, haha. The probe went in and out of the flat like absolute butter. Like when you flush a Mizuno kinda butter soft. More towards the point it wasn't quite as tender, not sure if that's just how briskets work since the point is obviously a little thicker.

First brisket was a decent success. I'm not sure if I'm spoiled because the only good BBQ joint here flies wagyu in for their brisket, and I was naive enough to think I could do it as well on my first time ever. It was flavorful, and has a decent smoke ring I think, but not as melty as what I'm used to eating. Still good the next day warmed up in the oven (last picture)

6 hr progress, hit the stall right at 155 internal. That blue dawg method is really intriguing, thanks for sharing that I've never heard of it @MattF. Definitely going to try it at least once. Maybe not if I can find a wagyu brisket, but another one of these prime from Costco definitely

Gonna try 225-250 until it hits 170 internally. Then I plan to wrap it and finish it a little higher so I'm not babysitting this thing for more than (hopefully) 12 hours. I would try and go overnight low, but I have a 4 month old so I gotta sleep when I can haha

Picked up a brisket for the weekend!
  6. Man, I haven't been curious about a Cally driver in a long time, but the shape of the Max LS, combined with them finally making a matte finish.... LAWD PLS HELP ME
  7. New driver just because. Tax return season?! Why am I like this?

Thanks! I'm actually surprised it turned out so well. Gave some to my coworker who gave me the wood and he said it tastes like it was store bought. I said "7-11 store, or like an actual bbq joint" and he confirmed an actual BBQ place so I'll take the complement haha. Next up, some pork belly or brisket if I'm feeling really confident

FullSizeRender.MOV Alright the video won't embed, but damn was this some good pork. Smoked with guava wood between 250-275 until internal temp was 170F, wrapped it, and finished it at 300F until it was 203F internally. Let it rest an hour, then pulled it. IMG_1508.MOV

Picked up a 9lb pork shoulder from Sam's Club yesterday, and some guava wood. Gonna smoke um up on Saturday for the big game! Hopefully I don't eff it up, first time doing low and slow. I've watched like 8 hours of YouTube videos so hopefully they help cooking more than golf swing advice?!
  11. I want a combo set of 223/225 -- I'm so ITCHY
  12. I hate change, but I don't hate this! Solid update, hope it helps the review selections. 4000 applications:

I'm obsessed with grilled asparagus. Toss in olive oil, s&p, then after I grill a put some fresh grated parm on it. I was testing my new Thermoworks remote thermometer, so since I had coals going I figured I would cook something. Had some chicken thighs in the freezer so thawed them out, quick wet brine, then cooked indirect before finishing over the hot side. Slapped some home made BBQ sauce recipe I found online, wasn't too bad for a quick no-plan dinner. Had a minor flare up that I'm sure you guys can see, lol.
  14. Today was interesting. Got out for only my 3rd round in 4 months since my son was born. I was playing out of my mind on some holes, and absolutely like garbage on others. 3 birds 3 doubles one bogey and a buncha pars later I pulled out a 76 from no where. Haven't broken 80 for a little while so it was refreshing. Still not hitting driver as well as I would like, but if something isn't working, then are you really playing golf?

Haven't visited the thread in a while! Missed seeing all the stuff you guys have been cooking up and pulling inspiration from your posts. Got a new toy this weekend. Wifey said I can't have a grill and a smoker so I splurged and I'm hoping this will serve me well. YouTube reviews seem pretty positive, even from the guys not paid to shill the product haha! After burning some coals in there to melt away any manufacturing residue, I arranged it to have indirect and direct heat zones, and brought up some steaks to 120F then seared them finished directly over the coals. Came out so good, I really missed charcoal after living in a condo for the last 8 years! Once I get a wireless thermometer/monitor I'm gonna try and smoke some pork belly as a test, then who knows what's next!? I'm stoked
  16. Was going to start a thread for this but I'm glad to see it already exists 2021 brought me my first ace, I tied my PB (75) twice, and my HDCP went to 7.5 which is the lowest I've ever been. Haven't played much since October now that I got a little one so I'm going to keep my expectations low and my only goal this year is to have fun and enjoy the rounds that I get to squeeze in. Played in the rain on Thursday and it was a soggy mess, I had mud all over me, I only kept track of how few pars and the 1 birdie I made, but I had fun!
  17. Ha, nah not a robot. Went with an Ego brand to match the weed whacker and blower, so I don't have to worry about different batteries and chargers and stuff -- all interchangeable! Then most of the grass died while I was trying to figure out the sprinkler systems, and the unusually-dry winter we were having before the last few weeks. LOL!
  18. I'm down to play again. If not to try to win, to see how BNG snakes you all in trades and builds another super team and stomps us all out.
  19. Is the Edge a smaller capacity tank, or is the Highlander just that much more efficient? I had read something to do with more air being in the tank caused you to get less GPM, but I also read that the thing that "floats" in your tank measures better when there's more gas, and you actually get better GPM when you have less fuel because your car is lighter. Not sure what the curb weight difference is with 7 gallons of gas, though.
  20. I know someone who has an original Model S who has had 0 major maintenance since 2012. I was hesitant as well, but everyone I know with one hasn't had any issues outside of the ones that come from factory, which are mostly cosmetic (panels don't line up, paint flaws, etc.) and are fixed at delivery. But yeah, the price hikes are crazy. Waiting to see if this bill passes for the tax credit, since it's not retroactive. Once it passes I'll place my order and start waiting, hopefully by then the price hasn't gone up so much that it negates the credit entirely, HA! I've grown up wrenching my own cars since I worked enough in high school to buy my first used car. Self-taught with the help of friends, I guess you can say I'm sort of a "car guy" and I never thought I would ditch combustion engines, but if I can power my whole house, and charge my vehicle, for $50/mo with the help of the sun -- it seems like a no brainer. Gotta make use of that 14 hours of sunlight per day, right?
  21. Getting PV installed on my roof this year in anticipation of buying an EV next year if/when the tax credits bill passes. GV60 is kinda nice, not a fan of the wheels but that's not hard to change. I like that they are just making electric versions of their normal cars -- never understood why more companies don't do that. They always have to make them look dumb. If BMW made an EV version of the 3-series I would've bought one years ago, but no, you can only get the little golf cart i3 or a totally impractical racecar i8. Then again I don't know what BMW has been doing of late. Cars getting uglier and the grilles are getting b i g g e r
  22. Whoaaaa that's sick! So when you land on the Autoflex that you get along with most, you can just change heads in the future and add/remove headweight to get your SW dialed in? Maybe I have to send you my TSi3
