  1. I use three just to get the speed of the greens right then go to one ball. But I don't putt to a pin / cup. I find a spot on the green and put a tee in the green. If I can hit an 1/8" tee, then I feel much better at getting in a 4-1/4" cup. Doing this also allows me to put the Tee in harder locations (uphill, downhill, side slope).
  2. I have the MotoCaddy M7 with remote. In comparing the two the Bag Boy has several nice features that the M7 is missing. Let me know how well the Trueline tracking system works. Does it track straight on side hill lies? I do like the trip meter and many more speed settings. I'm roughly at 700 miles walking on mine but it is all calculated. It would be great to actually have a trip meter like yours. I find that my normal walking speed is between two settings on mine. So, I let it go out ahead of me and slow it down when I need to. I also like the amount of storage compartments you get on yours. Mine has ZERO! One of the complaints from others is the M7 remote being sensitive. I don't have that issue but let us know what you think about the Volts remote after using it for a while. PS: I just put a Weathertech trunk liner in my car. So, I can just toss it in the trunk and when it needs a cleaning its an easy pull and hose off. Better than trying to get a 28-pound unit into a bag. Another note the Volt is 2.5 lbs lighter than the M7.
  3. Congrats testers. Wedge testing is so much fun. Looking forward to reading about your results.
  4. Totally forgot about you cold weather guys. The hoodie makes sense for cold weather. I haven't even had to wear a winter jacket / coat in 18 years year. I agree on the rain gear.
  5. I am more of a traditionalist, but it is due to the clubs I belonged to, and it was the dress code. It just became the norm for me. The materials these days are far superior for moisture wicking and, UV protection. Why would I want to wear a cotton tee shirt? I don't care if you wear a hoodie because you are younger, and this is more in line with what the younger generation wears. But I do have a question. What is the purpose? I have never seen someone wear it on their head playing golf. PET PEVE, one thing that really annoys me is seeing someone driving their car down the road with the hood of the hoodie up on their head totally taking away their peripheral vision.
  6. We had our MGS Forum trip to Pinehurst last year. It was a blast.
  7. Welcome @PapaGoose8. As you browse around look for the Kingsmill Outing thread. That's only 2-1/2 hours from you and we still have 2 or 3 open spots. I think we already have 17 or 18 spies signed up to go. Don't worry, a lot of have never met in person before but we are all friends through the forum.
  8. Exactly the same for me. Wilson and Maxfli. I actually just checked on the Dynapower Forged yesterday. Inventory issues (with heads). I need the length 1/2 oversize and 1degree flat, so they have to be built. Well, that might be a good thing. It shows that there is a demand.
  9. @GolfSpy_APH Phew, 10 thousand posts. Congrats on the milestone. Thanks for all you do.
  10. Timing is everything. I was traveling for work this week and I spent the first couple of days in Greenville SC. Just so happens that a par 3 course and a putting course was between my hotel and my customers. I unfortunately did not bring my clubs. But I did go there for lunch and later that day went back to do the putting course (I rented a putter). The place was perfect for learning. 18 hole course and the max distance was around 145 yards. The putting course was crazy. Each tee box was a four cup drink holder. Then you putted to a numbered cup. I have never seen undulations like this before. It was a synthetic because a mower couldn’t mow it for sure. This was the putting course. The place had a really nice bar. Indoor and outdoor seating, big screen tv’s. Pricing wasn’t bad. 18 holes was $27.00 and the 18 hole putting course was $9.00 and if you paid to play the par three course the putting course was free. The place was called “The 3’s” I believe it was a struggling 9 hole course and converted a couple years ago. The vibe was similar to a Top Golf location. They said it takes about an hour and a half to play the par 3 course. It took an hour for two of us to play the putting course. Saw a bunch of dads out there with their kids. I forgot to mention it I’d lit up for nighttime play as well.
  11. Unfortunately it’s about who you know or how much money you have. BUT There are country clubs that put on Pro-Ams to raise money for a charity or even the club itself. Those are usually much cheaper to play in than the Big Ones. Usually the Pro’s are club Pro’s from around the area. My last country club does one every year and it’s only a couple hundred bucks. I was just invited to a medium sized one in South Carolina while on my business trip and the entry is just north of $1000. If my company is willing to sponsor me I would go. But I’m not one to shell out a grand to play one round of golf with no one I know except for maybe one or two people.
  12. Now that was nice. So many courses have signs up saying they’re not responsible for lost or stolen items these days. Kind of makes you leary to play places like that. That’s one of the main reasons I don’t use a bag drop area and try to keep my bag in sight. After the round stuff gets locked up in my car trunk before going into the clubhouse for drinks or a meal. Born and raised in NY on Long Island makes you suspicious of everyone.
  13. That is just terrible. I’m sick about it and it wasn’t even my stuff.
  14. If you go to someone’s house and you see all their shoes by the door. You take yours off as well. If a course has a dress code you follow it or leave. It’s that simple. I have been fortunate enough to play some very exclusive courses and the dress codes are very strict. (Collared shirts tucked in, hats are not to be worn backward and you can’t wear one in the club house, no jeans or cut offs, no changing shoes in the parking lot) and so forth. Stuffy, Absolutely. I dress golf appropriate as I never know what the course policy is until I get there. I would hate to be turned away because of my attire. As far as I’m concerned. Just be somewhat neat and keep up pace of play. I also just can’t fathom playing golf in jeans. Way too uncomfortable for golf in my opinion. But I don’t care if that’s what you like. My only pet peeve No wife beater tee shirts. I don’t need to see your hairy armpits dripping sweat.
  15. My worst feeling was the TaylorMade Nubbins.
  16. I snapped one a week ago and tossed it out. Just another mistake of mine. Here I thought I would be a good idea to get rid of the evidence before SWMBO saw it broken.
  17. I actuallyhave recently tried a few different Bridgestone balls that were finds on the golf course and was impressed. Looking forward to trying some new ones out. Thank you to Bridgestone and the MGS Forum Staff for this opportunity.
  18. 0h no, I had tequila with dinner and after. I think I should go right back to my hotel room before its to late.
  19. Building my first HO scale golf scenery A month or two ago I mentioned I was thinking about building a scale model of Augusta’s 12th hole. I had some rainy days lately, so I got started. I took some design liberties in order to squeeze some other features in. The first stage was to get a piece of plywood for the base and draw my intended layout. Then I used Styrofoam to get a rough shape and show elevation changes. These were then glued down to the plywood. Once I got the shape roughly the way I wanted I used spackling compound to give everything a skim coat and blend the pieces together to look more natural. Once the compound was semi dry, I dabbed the terrain areas with a towel to get a grain texture. I made sure to leave the fairways and tee boxes smooth. Then added in Hogan’s bridge using three pieces of ¾” PVC and an archway made out of Styrofoam. Glued that in place and added some more spackle to blend it in. The spackle was used to also give me a decent painting surface. The next stage was to paint a base layer. This way if there are any imperfections when spreading the grass, sand, and woodland area materials any thin areas will still have the base paint underneath to look full. Then while waiting between events at one of my daughter’s track meets, I looked down and saw the perfect stone I would need for Hogan’s Bridge. I got some looks from SWMBO as she knew exactly why I was sorting through handfuls of small stone. The next area was Ray’s Creek. I had a straight pass through between sheets of Styrofoam, so I added more spackle to create a more winding effect. Then painted the creek and added a few stones. I then worked on stoning the bridge. I still have a way to go. The three types or grasses, the woodland floor, trees, shrubs, azalea bushes, and clear epoxy for the water in the creek and the pond. Of course there will be golfers out on the course. The sad part is they will be out on Agusta with clubs before I will ever be. As I get more things done, I'll keep updating this thread. I'm traveling for work this week so not much will get done. Hoping to get this complete by the Masters. Should be achievable since it only took a few hours to get to this point. Now just sitting in my hotel room trying to figure out how to make miniature rakes for the traps. The flags should be easy.
  20. I’ve been to the Masters a few times. The experience was amazing but I would rather play it once and not go back. Truthfully I rather watch it on TV these days. You miss so much being there. You’re on one hole and you hear a roar from another. No clue into you get to a leaderboard on what happened. Phones are not permitted. The last time I went I recorded the Masters do so could see what I missed.
  21. 150, I hit the pocket consistently but always got a 9 count and missed the spare too many times. Dam 10 pin.
  22. I found out something very important yesterday. DO NOT PLAY GOLF AFTER GOING BOWLING THE NIGHT BEFORE! Saturday was family night. They all decided we should go bowling and then out for dinner. Well, I was once a good bowler carrying a 200+ average. So, I drug out my three-ball bowling bag and gave everything a cleaning. Good to go. Let's just say that I haven't bowled since my kids were born and the oldest is 22. Heaving 15-pound balls for several games was probably not smart. I had to take two Advil before going to bed. I was one sore SOB. My next mistake was going golfing the next morning. I figured the golf would loosen me back up. For someone who hits straight drive this was not the case yesterday. I was short and off into the right rough or pine needles with every drive. My irons were okay, but I couldn't rotate enough with the woods. The wind didn't help either. After 9 holes of pain and torture I headed home. I am still sore today. This getting old thing sucks. We won't talk about the score in either sport!
  23. There is absolutely no pressure on the range. You have a bucket of balls right there. I have a friend who is what I call a driving range pro. He can hit any shot at the range. But on the course he was horrible. Gets mad, throws clubs, curses. The kind of golfer you don’t want to play a round of golf with. He lives up north and I live in the south these days. So this is look back in time. After several rounds of golf with him I couldn’t handle it any more. I put five balls down on the first tee box for him. Told him his first four tee shots didn’t count. Sure enough he piped his first ball down the center of the fairway. I did this for every shot for the first few holes. It showed him that it was all in his head. That was an extreme example but we all have thoughts that creep in. Thinking too much can cause you to get mechanical in your swing. This adds stress. Extra grip pressure causes your club to rotate closed. A little waggle in your pre-shot routine will loosen you up. Many times the course messes with you as well. “ Looks like trouble on the right. I don’t want to go there.” Well if that’s what you were thinking about that’s where the ball will go. “Don’t be short” and you either chunk it or skull it. Keep positive and think, I’m going to put this just short of the pin leaving an uphill putt. Commit to the shot. The results will be better. I can’t hit a ball 280 yards anymore and the harder I try the less predictable the outcome of the drive will be. So by throttling down a bit I’m in position every time, okay 90% of the time. Staying in play is the most important thing to lower scores.
  24. I can say based on my home course that I use every club in my bag each round. Its all about the layout of courses.
