  1. If you saw this man's practice swing vs at ball swing, you would walk away scratching your head. Practice swing: very smooth backswing, nice shoulder turn, hint of stopping at top and very smooth transition down and through... Actual swing: Almost upright all arm backswing, starts aggressive downswing before his shoulders finish backswing , stops swing about waist high. Oh, and his ball position on his stand is always a mystery were it will be. but in a positive note, his putting, one look, line up, in the hole, you would want him on a scramble just for his putting
  2. Anybody else receive the Masters Ticket Raffle e-mail? If I don’t get picked, it will be my 12th year of disappointment , I apply for practice and tournament days for 2. Anybody been picked then not? Who’s been picked, how do you get notified?
  3. No, I said my USAF buddy did in the 80’s, my sister-in-law’s husband plays PRO-V1’s, he struggles to break 100 because of his slice which is aggravated by the Pro-V1, he shot low 90’s about 5 times with no problems using a low spin 2 piece ball, but went back to the Pro-V1 because he lost distance and “feel”, 100’s came right back
  4. I agree and disagree with you, here is my points: Yes, a 36 handicapper would need stiff and even x-stiff shafts based on his swing. Like I posted , my buddy played Balatas, which were high spin balls, a 36 handicapper using Pro-V1's, would aggravate their slice/hook Game Improvement irons, can help down to a 10-12 handicap, this is the range where I think some forged short irons could be introduced along with a high spin ball.
  5. So there I was, talking golf with my brother in law and somehow the topic of our HIS brother in law ( who is 65) , came up. We both agreed that if he were to change to regular shafts rather then stiff heavy shafts, his scores would improve (Am 59 my brother in law is 62, we both play regular shafts) that also got me thinking of a former USAF friend who in the 80's would ONLY play Titleist Balatas, he would go through 8-10 a round, yet he struggled to shot to a 18 handicap, he also played muscle back blades. So now I want to continue my "research" and just curious, is there handicap appropriate equipment ? Why do so many golfers want equipment with "pro specs" yet they should be using Game improvement? Would lower handicapped golfers benefit from forgiving equipment rather than blades? And if your a low single handicap, have you tried clubs that are more forgiving?
  6. Must be age,,,, how do I donate again? Link or PayPal name
  7. Anybody gone from PING G-700's to PING G-425's? Seriously thinking about it, the G-700's honeymoon is over, they feel too light and have not gotten used to the sound.
  8. Maybe it's me or the age group am in or ???? but, if waiting an extra week or two or 5 for my G425's and the wife's 710's we are about to order is the worse that happens to us all year, life is good. Retiring to AZ this fall
  9. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission, because YOU KNOW what the answer is when you ask,,,,,,
  10. If this is too out of line, please delete MODS! I made a similar post in an another site and was given a 30 time out. Was is the best or best/worst comments you seen on a BST on different items? I placed an original 35" Blue Goose putter for sale once, one reply said "Wish it was 34", I be all over it" Yet another said "If it was new, I get it",,,,,,
  11. Can you average golfer tell the difference between OEM and Tour Issue? In my opinion, there is none in putters, but is there on other equipment? Also, do some of you believe "Handcrafted" is the same as "Handmade"?
  12. Color me skeptical on the "rounds" part, because how many time you use your wedge per round? there is rounds I never use my sand wedge or gap wedge, then there is times where I use it almost EVERY hole, this is due to L.O.F.T. (Lack Of Frickking TAlent) The sweet spot on many of my clubs is a pristine as could be, this "research" in my humble opinion is nothing more than marketing towards us hacks, those with the sweet consistent swing KNOW when they should change wedges since the can SEE their performance diminish. But again, thats my two pesos and I could and have been wrong.
  13. When I hit on the toe, am coming over the top.
  14. Personally, grooves is as much marketing as German Stainless Steel,,,, Maybe on very long putts where the ball is struck with enough force for the grooves to actually bite the cover.
  15. Parents need to let kids just play and stop ruining sports for them.
  16. Three years but I have only been active les than or about a year after discovering a review and attempting to "sign up" and discovering I was already a member.
  17. Hole in one - 165 yard bladed 7 iron, never got more than 5 feet off the ground Didn't see it go in the the hole, turned around in disgust and heard a clank.
  18. Put me in the old geezers group, this Sept am 60. Maybe am off subject, but let's be honest, today's Pro-Golfers are the LEAST accessible professional players. They walk between holes like royalty not even making eye contact with their adoring peasants. Tiger Woods does NOT sign golf balls, that is the equivalent of Babe Ruth not signing baseballs. I have not been to a tournament in a a couple of years, last one was in San Diego, NOT ONE player said a word to the fans as the walked between the ropes from hole to hole. I still remember the 87 and 88 Phoenix Open, Fuzzy , Tom Kite, Tom Watson, Hal Sutton would say a simple hello's and thank you' s and acknowledged the people between holes, Fuzzy would crack jokes on the tee. The only people today's stars seem to interact is with the tournament directors and CEO's. That's just my two pesos and I could be wrong.
  19. Look into PING G-410 Hybrids and fairway woods and save some cash, the only reason I used to carry fairway woods and a 3 and 4 iron or hybrid (Cleveland Mashie) was to fish balls out of the water!
  20. I did, but went to a different fitter than the one who fitted me with my G-25's. My spidy sense told me something was not right,,, am ready now,, lot's and lots of questions !!!
  21. Thanks for all the information!!! Now I have a sweet dilemma, get fitted for a new set of G425's (wife wants suggestions for a retirement gift) or tinker with these,,,,, might try the lead tape way for a little bit,,,
  22. On this day April 24th 2000 I filed for divorce,,,,,,,,,,,,
  23. I am in sort of of a dilemma, I currently play PING G-700's with graphite shafts, they feel too light , yes I was fitted and don't know why I did not notice this. So, if I change to steel shafts, will they "feel" heavier and will the swing weight change? If I add lead tape to the head and leave the graphite shafts , will THAT change the flex? Gracias!
  24. Funny you mention bourbon,,,,,,,,, My favorite with sugar free ginger ale is Angel's Envy, with coke Maler's Mark 46,,,,, Other I have entered into "collection" 3 roses small batch Elijah Craig small batch Kbon creek
