  1. That's what I was wondering about with the strong lofts and hotter faces, that I'd have to get used to a 180yd 7i.
  2. I touched on this briefly, but check if Cobra has run the shaft you desire in the past few seasons. I was able to custom order a current iron with a prior year shaft. Probably depends on supply I'm sure. Unless Cobra wants you reviewing these with the current offerings.
  3. 5w with the loft cranked all the way up? How many degrees do you get with Myfly these days?
  4. Hit a decent drive just shy of a ditch. Arccos was off a little. The approach was 172-174 on the Bushnell, with a tree hanging over the left. I hit a nasty 6i draw around the tree to 3ft. I was just hoping for it to come up short inbounds but I got all of it and it made the turn like I asked it to. Made the birdie putt. 2 birdies today, some great holes, a couple terrible holes, 86 on a par 70
  5. No collusion! No collusion. It was a perfect selection. I mean, had they chosen me, it would have been even more perfect. Man it's nerve racking thinking about getting new and getting fit for some new irons and possibly driver, while test season is full throttle! LOL. Alas, I'm already picked for a review. Just hangin out and rooting for everyone CONGRATS!!!!
  6. Thinking about being fit for MP20MMC/HMB combo. But, the MMC 7i looked weird at address. Topline is blade like, but the offset is very much JPX. Whether that's the case in actual mm or not, that's how it looked to my eye. I need a shot at hitting them outdoors somehow. Maybe I'll split between 7/8 as the HMB didn't have this weird look, maybe just get all HMB or something else entirely, LOL.
  7. Hah! I have this exact set! My first golf set, bought 2nd hand about 1999-2000 Complete with the persimmon 1,3,5 woods, and I believe 2-SW irons. The 4i shaft snapped when we used it on a Piñata for a friend's birthday. I should get some pics. Leather/Pleather bag too! I got them at a friend's garage sale for 45 bucks, complete with a women's set of some unknown brand blades!!
  8. So true. I think I got my AoA into the + zone by kinda focusing more behind the ball, and the easy swing means hitting the sweet spot. Had a couple over 250yds and I'm usually in the 210-230 range.
  9. Played Black Bear in Franklin NJ. I used to live across the road from it. Very familiar course. They added a gold tee, backed up the white and blue, and eliminated black tees. The blue is basically the black tee now. So playing from the whites, where the blue tees used to be, felt strange and farther than I'm used to. That didn't matter. I had the best driving day in years probably. I just concentrated on taking easy 70% swings. My swing was probably near dead straight as anything taking off slight left would draw a few feet, and slight right would fade a few, just depended where the face was I assume. Anyway I was really finding the center of the club. Unfortunately that's where it ends. 2nd shots were the worst, pitching, chipping, putting was trash. I salvaged the back 9 to shoot a 101.
  10. It's been a minute. Still using TV+4 grips on many of my clubs. I even paid for a couple. They're good enough for Keegan sharing 54 hole lead @ Valspar
  11. If you're within range of what Arccos determines is a GIR, and you lay up, does it add to your short of greens stat? Is there a way to go back and tell Arccos that you laid up? I always wondered if that was contributing to some of my high short of green %. Otherwise, looks like one more club may improve those stats instantly.
  12. Reed's game and technique is top notch, maybe even near "one of the top 5 guys." But, that's about it. I think maybe he needs a PR coach. He will be one of the guys on the RC bubble, and will get passed over for a lesser player for morale reasons. Just my guess. In person he is shorter and way thinner than I imagined. The camera adds 5 lbs, but the camera also makes everyone look the same height. But I think he's 5'11"-6' if I'm correct, which is short for PGA.
  13. That would have ruled too!!!!
  14. I just tried the MP20 HMB and the MP20 MMC, as I really had my eyes set on the MMC but having HMB in 5,6,maybe even 7 might be quite nice. I hit like total garbage. I couldn't hit my JPX 825 pros either. There's just something about a fitting bay that turns me into the worst golfer ever. So, they're golf clubs. I will say the fitting 7i version of the MMC looked weird. The top-line of a blade, but it appeared to have significant offset and looked super weird at address. I'd love to try the P7's and some Srixons too. After that sim experience, I'm now open to anything.
  15. 1002! ❤❤❤ If only my forum score could drop my handicap Glad to know its not just me with the indoor sim issues
  16. I don't know what it is, if it's the lighting, the lack of anything tangible to aim at, the claustrophobia, or what. But I just totally suck in an indoor bay, mainly with irons (havent hit driver indoors in years). I went to Golf Galaxy to try some sweet Mizuno MP20 HMB and MMC, and brought my own 7i in tow. I couldn't hit any of the 3 consistently. And all 3 were short on distance. Good feeling shots went like crap, bad feeling shots looked perfect on screen with high ball speed but 10 yds short with low spin somehow. Nothing added up and I just gave up. Im hoping to find some outdoor demo days somewhere, because this indoor crap is definitely a repeat phenomenon which means I can't do indoor fittings. Anybody else experience this?
  17. The Bouncing Souls, "I'm From There", from the Anchors Aweigh album.
  18. Hi people of the internet and Mygolfspy land! I've been a forum member here since 2018, but I figured I'd reintroduce myself. My name's Doug and I live in NJ. Here goes: How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Since fall of 2011. Got to a low 14.x toward the end of last summer, (high 80's-low 90s). Hoping to keep it trending down. At my age 46, I'd be stoked to get to 10 and keep it there What do you love about golf? Smashing the crap out of the ball. No, really. The feeling of that perfectly struck shot that goes forever. And, of course, sharing rounds with friends or meeting new people. The health aspects of walking 18, and being outdoors. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I probably was curious about some driver or irons. Maybe the Mizuno JPX 825 review, specifically, as they have been my go-to irons since. I personally know a couple spies but they don't post much. I haven't met any others in person. Where are you from? What is your home course? NJ, USA. Home course was Basking Ridge, but we're currently being vetted to join Mendham Golf & Tennis club. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best...I'd say the courses get really, really green in the spring. Worst is the humidity, bugs, and well, I have winter activities that make me tend to forget about golf for a few months . Very much into snowboarding. What do you do for a living? I'm a mechanical engineer, mainly creating and modifying solid models and drawings for our components. I'm also co owner of a small snowboard brand, Blak Sheep Snowboards. How’d you pick your user name? It comes from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. If you know, you know
  19. The RAD in the Rad Speed refers to radial. That's, not, radical. I had been hoping for some totally RAD marketing stuff: fire, Radical Rickie doing a wheelie on his dirt bike, Jeremy Mcgrath on the tee? A burnout? This stuff writes itself!! ... nada... Booooooo... At least they're offering a couple colorways. Therefore, I fixed it:
  20. I had to check the date to make sure this didn't coincide with Tiger's crash. Tiger should buy it. Proceeds to multiple foundations. I've seen MGS kick around thoughts that maybe Nike would buy it also? Who knows. They've had a great run though!
  21. However... Just across the road is Old Palm. My wife's Aunt and Uncle winter there. That is a great course, and it was nice to get to play it. I think it's private. At the time it was the best course I had ever seen by far. Lee Westwood was a member and resident there at the time (2013), as well as a couple other tour pros I cannot remember. Ray Floyd designed the course and was there frequently. He may also live there but I can't be sure. Rickie Fowler would show up for charity tourneys (Ernie Els charity pro/am?) there during the week of the PGA Nat tourney. All Pro V1's at the range. A really nice 3 hole practice course that is, from what I remember, Par 5, par 4, par 3. So if you're visiting, you can golf "free" all day at the practice facility. I played the normal course 3 times. It was also my first time having a caddy. That was great, as I have no idea how to read the greens, we don't need to account much for grain in the Northeast. I've been dying to get down there again since becoming a little better and more consistent. They also have a 19th hole. You tee off a small tee right near the bar/lounge. The green is maybe 30 feet across, and in the middle of a pond. Rickie holed it one year. I don't think you can actually access the green. Thanks for reading my completely irrelevant babble.
