  1. Everytime I feel any slight pinch in my back, I get nervous. Only had a couple of brief episodes that kept me in bad discomfort and they, fortunately, were short lived. Hope you're on the mend and back chasing golf balls around!
  2. Yesterday I grabbed a sleeve of my Tour X balls for play. I had offered them up to a couple of the better players in our group here in Yuma, but they are die-hard ProVer's. In summary, the one I played the round with performed great. I had stated earlier that as compared to the Tour, they X felt too hard on the putter... but I honestly did not notice that yesterday. Off the tee distance seemed about usual on really well struck drives as did fairway woods and irons. Sometimes these side by side comparisons are difficult. I think I have made the "better" choice for my game... but maybe not?
  3. This thread got me thinking about "age groups/flights" in sports. When you're very young, being old is advantage. But when you're old, not so much .
  4. I met up and played Banbury G.C. with @PING Apologist #9this past spring. Lots to choose from and Rob has the lowdown on them.
  5. This is an interesting rule change. Maybe they should consider a rule where throwing a club results in loss of use of that club for the rest of the round .
  6. Acquiring them is only half the solution... some would argue less than half. Some coaches no doubt would rather have some motivated, highly teachable 3 and 4 stars than a bench full of 5 stars. And there are plenty of examples where that has been a winning combination. Still, coaching cannot create raw talent.
  7. Well crap... sorry I missed this one. A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you both.
  8. But I was often asked and they were always surprised. If I liked them and wasn't in competition, I'd quickly qualify that the PE2's were a weaker loft .
  9. Anyone know where the dislike button is?
  10. After hitting these last Saturday, you are my hero. I was able to successfully size down to the i210's and i500's, but the BP's are in a league of their own. To be honest, I like the look of the i500's the best. If they had shifted my numbers more, I might be tempted. Don't let them grind you to a pebble. An older colleague once told me that no matter how fast I turn-over the inbox, it will be re-filled just as fast.
  11. Same here. It's just that those houses look so awfully close .
  12. That surprises me as well. But, as @revkevsaid, the poll, in all likelihood, does not represent the average golfer.
  13. Based on my experience, he's spot on. Yesterday, while playing the same par 3 I described in my post, the hole was playing 216 straight into a stiff wind. We figured it to be playing ~230. I blistered my 3w and came up just short and left of the green. For fun, I hit my driver with perhaps a 3/4 swing speed. I managed to hit it straight but it came up short in front of the green. Whenever we have a north wind, this hole continues to be a challenge. There is some room behind the green, but also homes... next time, I may just launch one .
  14. What stands out bigly is Clemson picking up 6 (yes six) 5 star rated players. I may have missed it, but I don't think any other school has more than 3. I'll bet Phil Knight is pissed off . Also, look at the weighting of talent headed to SEC and ACC schools... next years CFB will look like this years CFB which looked like the previous years CFB.... and so on and so on.
  15. How did your team do in the latest 2020 recruitments class? https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2020/all-teams/Football
  16. For sure. I watched the entire final match last night (until 00:30 ). It was nerve wracking even knowing the final outcome . Added bonus having Kuchar be the winning putt.
  17. PING is not telling... I asked. They only revealed that the 2.0 replaced the 1.0 version to address some shortcomings with discoloration. I'm pretty sure most of the irons with the Hydroperal finish are 400 series stainless steel (431 alloy specifically). I suspect it is a chemical passivation with possibly a PVD coating - a satin nickel color. With respect to wear, I'm already seeing some small scratches on my 9i that show a slight copper tone as compared to the surrounding finish. While the look and hydrophobic properties of the Hydroperal Finish are nice, they do not wear as well as the alloy and finish process of the early year Eyes and i-Blades (IMHO). Those, seemingly, are made using the material and methods of Captain America's shield - virtually indestructible.
  18. So with our plans to relocate full time to AZ, I wishing I would have kept all those dress slacks from my working days... two cuts, a new hem sew job, and walla - repurposed .
  19. I grew up on that stuff but haven't played on it for over 45 years. St. Augustine is still on the bucket list, so maybe not to far away.
  20. Yup. Most of mine involve an OB off the tee and a less than stellar 3rd shot from the tee. The course we play on Saturday's is in a housing subdivision and has trouble on lots of holes... on both sides and even behind some greens .
  21. 37/43 at Coyote Wash today. Blustery winds that seemed to come from everywhere. It was challenging to figure out the wind. My back nine had three peek-a-boo birdies... ohhh, what could have been .
  22. Wow, awesome job... a new standard for reviews has been set! (But don't hold your breath for us old cats trying to copy ) Based on the first few videos, I would have bet money you were not going to chose to keep/play these. I think you are spot on that the low single digit players who have been playing forged irons will not like these. I also think you represent that break point (skill level) where choosing these over blades is challenging... and where ego frequently wins out over the better choice. Your comments about workability (or lack thereof) is interesting. We often hear from the low digit players how important this attribute is to them. I agree that the need for workability on most days and on most courses is not that critical. I mean lets be honest, if the irons are keeping your balls on the short grass, how often are power draws and fades needed? I would say the inability to hit these irons down presents more problems. I have to really press forward and stance forward to keep these under a tree line (punch out shot). With regards to little or no yardage penalty on off hits, that's exactly what I find too. I just finished a fitting test at a PING Demo comparing my G410's to the i210's, i500's, and Blueprints. Off hits on those were, in that order, increasingly worse in lost yardage...the BP's crazy bad. I'd be curious how you would like the i500's. Of the three irons I tested, I hit this one the best but it really offered little gain in yardage and only a little more workable - but I think that's more my skill set limitation. I played with Chris @Thin2winthis past summer at our NW Spy Event and he was working his set left and right nicely. You might check with him about them as I think you have similar games. Now that PING has lured you in , a fitting to see how the others compare to the G410's would be interesting.
