Oh hell yeah! Now that the popularity contest is over, I can let my skills (and still mouth) do the talking!! Expect a LOT of hybrids off the tee from me.

Howdy, I am Corbin. I am currently living in College Station, Texas. I have been playing golf for about 10 years, except for a couple years when I was in the military and could not get to golf. I just started getting back into the game within the last year and a half.  I am at 11.5 hcp, and working on lowering that this year.  I love the challenge this game brings, and the people I come across while playing. I enjoy always working on improving my game.  I came across MyGolfSpy while researching club reviews, I was looking for new clubs and wanted more information that what I could find on YouTube.  I stumbled upon this forum, and instantly knew this was different and I wanted to be apart of this community.  I am living in College Station, and my home course is The Golf Club at Texas A&M.  The best thing about playing here is that I get to play golf at least 9 months of the year, and I get a great tan while playing.  The worst part is that judging the wind is sometimes tricky.  I am a Driving instructor and safety operator for a logistics company.  My user name is my first initial of first name and my last name followed by my class year. I typically play with random groups of people so I need to work on getting pictures taken on the course, I will work on getting some added this year.

So, it has been a few weeks since I have tried the Sub 70 639 MB/CB. I wanted to get this up earlier, but as a driving instructor for a trucking company that moves food grade products, I have been training and driving many hours to keep shelves stocked in these crazy times.  First off, the customer service is amazing! They truly care about their product and their consumer.  They are good looking products that performs just as well. I play distance irons with a hollow body design, and one major problem I have with them is that they are jumpy and can hit some really hot ones that fly way past my normal yardage. I enjoyed the MB's the best, they launched really easy, and I thought I would sacrifice some yardage, but these were spot on my yardage as my gamers, but more consistent. It was difficult to send these back. Really happy with the demo process, and looking forward to doing business with them again. Pictures posted in a weird order. 1) CB 6-iron 2) MB 9-iron address 3) MB 9-iron 4) CB 6-iron address

Today I got some irons and wedges in from Sub70. I got 3,4,5 &6 in the 639CB and 50*, 54* & 60* in the black wedges. These all came with KBS Tour 120 S (hardstep) shafts and Golf Pride MCC Plus 4 grips. I’ll get to hit these next week.

More to come as we round out the bag by the spring!

I understand that, I’ve had black irons before, so on the face and sole I’m good with happening. I was more curious as to how the back of the club and resistant to nicks and fading is, due to the fact I live in Texas and the sun bakes everything here. I was mostly making sure that if I’m gonna pay for the black it lasts more than a couple weeks, I’m pretty particular about my clubs.

So, I was on the fence about a new driver and I think this confirmed it.  I was getting my current TS3 driver regripped from a midsize with a few layers of tape added, down to a standard midsize so I could get my hands through a bit better and have noticed a rattle in the club for about 6 months.  It wasn't anything major so I discounted it, but since I was there asked the fitter at a local shop to give it a look.  He found that the weight port had a small hole allowing the magnet weight to get into the club head.  https://www.titleist.com/teamtitleist/team-titleist/f/golf-clubs/43724/ts3-weight-rattle---brand-new It seems like some people have had a rattle issue and I'm wondering since it was like that for a while for me if it somehow got through over time?  Not sure.
Anyhow, as some background, I was fitted to the TS3 at Club Champion in December of 2018.  My results were much better than my current gamer and G400 but over 1 1/2 years, the on course results haven't showed this.  Also, I'm not sure if the fitter felt that other drivers would not be as good, but I only tried Taylormade, Ping, and Titleist drivers,.
One thing I wish I would have done, was waited until this time of year, when my swing was in better shape.  For reference, my swing speed was 108 - 110 over winter and recently at Golf Galaxy my swing speed was 113 - 115 range - only marginal but worth noting.

I went to Golf Galaxy and tried a few different combinations of stock offerings.  These included Sim, G410 Plus, Epic Flash, and Mavrik.  Several were just on the used rack and I knew the loft and shaft were not great for me, but tried anyways to get a look at the clubhead at address and possibly if I found a unicorn that was somehow great for me. (I always tell myself I won't do that)  Out of the bunch the Mavrik felt best, followed closely by Epic Flash SZ, Ping G410, and SIM trailing.

But fast forward to now, I have an upcoming appointment with Callaway to hit drivers.  This will be at an outdoor range, which is my preference so I can see ball flight.  Ping has another fitting on June 10th and will try others as I can.  Hopefully I can find a more consistent driver/shaft combo for my game.

I cut my driver down to 44.5" and picked up some distance and more consistency.  A couple of friends did the same (I have Mitchell equipment in my basement..LOL) and shaved strokes of their handicap.  I recommend it to most folks.

That is great to know, I am the same way with my clubs. I clean with soapy water after every round and practice session. The wear marks being in the center was exactly what I was thinking lol I guess even more incentive to work on my ball striking( me trying to justify getting murdered out irons lol) Thank you for this, might be making a call.

Does anyone know how the black finish holds up on the 639 MB/CB's? I ask because they are out of stock of the MB's in the satin finish, but not sure when they will get back in stock. I like the look of the black irons, but if they fade pretty fast I may wait.  Ever since i demoed their set, I am hooked and want them in my bag asap lol Although I do understand why there is a delay, but any feedback would be much appreciated.

I know I’m missing it too, once things open back up they should be great again. What makes it worse is the weather is 60 and sunny,, such a tease.

I will say that the black finish does make identifying impact on the face much easier to see! Plus visually the black finish has no glare at all on sunny days and the murdered out look is pretty sick!

I have only played 4 rounds so far this year with my 639 black combos with moderate range time and so far so good. But I mean that's not a whole lot of use so I can do my best to keep you updated as the season goes on. I do my best to keep them clean after each shot with just a wet towel that way I'm not using something to abrasive to clean and effect the finish. Such great irons though, I have been nothing but happy since I put them in the bag. I kinda figured after a little use the look might be pretty cool having some of the finish worn off (as long as my wear marks are in the center of the club face lol)

Hey y’all, I’m Rich, and new to the forum!
How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?  I’ve been playing for 40 years, and currently play to a 5 handicap.
What do you love about golf?  I love the scenery being outdoors, and I love the challenge and competition.
What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?  I’ve been following on Instagram for a while, and decided I might want to be an equipment tester.  I don’t know any spies that I’m aware of.
Where are you from? What is your home course?  I’m from Texas.  My home course is Berry Creek C.C..
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?  You can play year round, but it’s sweltering during the summer.
What do you do for a living?  I run 2 Harley-Davidson dealerships.
How’d you pick your user name?  I’m an Aggie for life!  Gigem!
