  1. Harvey Penick said you should never use the word 'choke' in connection with your golf game. Bad Psychology to use negative words. Think of 'gripping up' or 'gripping down' instead
  2. Thanks again @PrestonAtHonma for the weight kit. Put the 15g weight up front and had my best driving so far. Several over 300 in wet conditions, and my biggest bomb so far! Now I can keep up with @DPattGolf
  3. Two things: 1. 4 out of 4 testers exteremely satisfied with the Honma 2. I need some speed training to keep up with these young bucks
  4. Good to see GIR's go up, but no shots long means you should probably take a little more club to get your shot pattern more centered. Maybe long is dead and short is better, but you should be missing at least some long. No doubt the Sub70's are great! I feel like I'm getting my 639CB's dialed in now too.
  5. Agreed, comparison is important. I saw that Bryson toured the Bridgestone facility, and said he doesn't even need to epsom salt test them anymore...
  6. No doubt. I had some crazy numbers with the TM Sim back in January, just hitting around at the PGA store, but wondering if those numbers were inflated. Also no clubhead speed given, and I had done a few super speed swings beforehand. But the spin numbers were incredible, whether real or not... Wondering if a 12g or 15g weight up front would reduce the spin more cc: @PrestonAtHonma
  7. The format here and tester expectations are really good and laid out for us, with grading scale and expectations for a thorough review. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Honma
  8. I went through the reviews of some other recent driver tests, and so far the Honma averaged higher than the rest, Currently at 95.66% pending @DPattGolf review. I know @Getoffmylawn is a big softy, but I felt like you and I were pretty critical .
  9. I'm going for the Boston Tee Party. But you missed one of the most iconic duos!
  10. Come on over to the MGS TR20 testing page and weigh in! (link in signature)
  11. 4 in a row w/ Morikawa, Herman, DJ, and Rahm
  12. I was driving back home from Oklahoma. Stopped to get gas in Durant and saw that DJ made the putt for the playoff. Stopped for a bit and watched the Rahm putt drop. Glad it didn't happen while I was driving! The last few weeks have been really good for TM, and I think the SIM is the only driver that might have a chance in my bag over my Honma.
  13. This is awesome! As a kid I grew up on a course like this, and even still it's nice to mix it up on a short course which levels the playing field of different skill levels
  14. Quality is top notch. I was looking at potentially Hogan, Tour Edge, or Sub70 when I got the Honma. Even the mid-priced drivers are expensive to me, but if you have the budget to maximize your golf game, or if you are a tournament player looking for return on investment, I certainly think the Honma holds it's own against any of the bigger name brands
  15. Thanks. I thought you were being soft too til I added up my own score I had it mostly written and had to trim it down before I did scores. It was a lot of work and range sessions, and I definitely had a few days where I didn't hit it well on the range. But I think a lot of that was fatigue and trying all the adjustment options. The head to head numbers were mind blowing Best thing for me now is to keep the adjustment instead of tinkering.
  16. Mine has gone up 0.3 strokes, but also I replaced irons a few weeks before I got driver, and my putter hasn't been my friend.. But my last 5 rounds, my worst is 76 (actually last 3 in a row)
  17. Went to the range during lunch with my Honma and Tour Edge, and my cell phone(camera). I feel like I'm back up to full swing speed, so I was able to rip at a few balls. I hit a bunch of high beautiful bombs, and then checked the camera and realized it wasn't recording. So I started over, hit some more, and got into a great rhythm. I got back to review the footage, and realized my phone overheated and my video didn't save
  18. Check out the Honma reviews in the next few weeks . The TM Sim is pretty good too.
  19. 18th hole long par 5. Into a slight breeze. Bombed my Honma driver, had 230 to the pin. I hit a smoked low 4 iron to the front edge that rolled to 20 ft for an easy 2 putt birdie to tie the match. And get this: It took me less that 4 minutes (closer to 20 seconds) to figure out the wind and how I wanted to play the shot before I pulled the trigger.
  20. I tried to de-loft down to 7.5 like @DPattGolf, but after a couple of holes and bad low pulls, I decided to make an illegal adjustment on course back to my previous setting. I may experiment with it again, as it might be a good adjustment in the wind.
  21. Last year I had 3 pretty good travels for 1 round of golf. I left Ft Worth at 3:30 a.m. and then teed it up in Austin at Barton Creek at 9 a.m., back the same night. (I don't recommend this, as I was stiff and tired most of the round). Another day I left after work, stayed the night in Houston, then played Memorial Park right after it opened, then back the next day. Both of those were around 4 hours each way. My longest trip was 27 holes at Sweetens Cove disguised as a family vacation. We took a road trip from Ft Worth to Virginia, also stopping in Tennessee and North Carolina, totalling about 50 hours in the car for the week. Some trips are family trips where you just happen to golf, but for this one, my main objective was getting to Sweetens, then building a fun family trip around it.
