  1. Why do you always have to be so reasonable?
  2. Welcome! Tulsa has some solid golf. I usually play one of the muni's near Jenks when I visit my inlaws up there, but heard there was some great golf in Broken Arrow and north of Tulsa as well. Will definitely be up there for the PGA at Southern Hills next year!
  3. Welcome to DFW. Once you figure out exactly where you'll be, I'm sure there will be plenty of course recommendations.
  4. Thank you @MattFor should that be, the Matt that F's?
  5. Our regular group is me (scratch) with a 3 and an 11. We all play fast and the 11 is the fastest walker in the bunch so I have to hustle to keep up.
  6. Exactly. I don't care what your score is. If you can get around in 3-3.5 hours and have a good attitude, we'll have a good time. But when your attitude or pace affects the group
  7. 2020 was the best golf year for me since having kids. I got new Sub70 irons and a new Honma Driver(thanks MGS!), played more than ever, and got some great training aids. But I feel like 2021 can get better. I turn 38 next week, and also need to get in better shape as I put on a Covid-20 lbs this year with the gym closed. My handicap started at 0.5, peaked at +2.0 after a few low rounds in early summer, than fell back to a +0.4 to end the year. My low HI came when I was playing a lot of rounds away from home where I played better, so I need to get my scoring average down at home. Scores also went up a bit after adjustment period with new equipment, but settling in nicely now. 2021 Goals: Lose 20-25 lbs Stay in + handicap Get to 120mph cruising speed Have a span of 20 straight rounds on GHIN under 80. Currently I have one 80, and need 12 rounds in 70’s or better to clear it. Break 70 at my home course (rating 73.7) Average less than 1 3-putt/round and average 30 putts/round(currently 32) How I’m going to get there: Dry January- No booze for a month to help my body recover faster and kick-start weight loss(Starting on my birthday Jan 8.) Golf membership- I just got annual pass so I should be able to play around 40 home rounds in 2021 (played around 25 in 2020) Superspeed training and lifting 3x week at office. Also getting a basketball goal for office warehouse to use daily(used to play 3x a week pre-covid) Perfect Putt mat at office for daily use. also switched to claw grip in November and putting has improved greatly Tracking stats and workouts. I’ve never been good at tracking. I like that I can enter round with stats on GHIN now, but this will show areas of improvement. Will do a spreadsheet for golf stats and habit roadmap with written weekly checklist for the workout/superspeed stuff.
  8. No one cares what you shot. Play your own game. Never try a shot you haven't practiced.
  9. Driver, then wedges, then maybe update your range-finder, push cart, bag as needed, then back to driver in 3-4 years
  10. Not sure what the letters stand for, but the H corresponds with the CL positions, so think that would be closed, and the S w/ the OP position, which would be open
  11. Tomorrow I'll be participating in a Golf-a-thon, raising money for the First Tee of Fort Worth, at Rockwood Park Golf course, which is one of my favorites and also where my son is learning the game. I'll be playing basically from 7 am to 7pm, with a few short breaks. There will be other individuals and relay teams out there as well, but I'm hoping to get in at least 5 full rounds (90 holes), and if I can average an hour a 9, I can get 108 holes! We'll have carts, which will make it possible. Feel free to follow along on Twitter @golfingbrock or hashtag #BRockwood or #Brockathon. I'll write up more about the experience in the few days after I finish, and I expect it to be both grueling and amazing. Also feel free to contribute if you feel inclined.
  12. I'm a scratch player, but I absolutely can learn from mid/high handicappers, especially on a forum like this where guys have done substantially more research than me in certain areas. I can knock the ball around the course well, but I have a huge blind spot on technology, club fitting, golf course architecture, and many other areas. Am I going to listen to a swing tip that some high capper is parroting from the latest Golf Digest or take any other unsolicited advice? Probably not. But are there several other facets of this great game where they might know more than me and can educate me or help me out? Absolutely.
  13. There haven't been any comments in a couple weeks, but wanted to update and let you know I'm still hitting bombs. Played in a tournament this weekend and drove a couple par 4's for easy 2 putt birdies. One of them flew 320 over trouble and stuck on the green.
  14. I would also consider moving the heavier weight of the Honma to the front of the club. Could be a shaft issue also, but like eveyone said, at that swing speed you should be carrying it farther. I'm guessing that you are at around 3500-4000rpm w/ the honma where you should really be less than 3000 and 13-15 degree launch angle. If you can, hit them both side by side in a simulator and compare launch numbers
  15. One of my playing partners found one last week and put it into play after he'd lost a couple of his gamers. He ended up making 3 birdies with it in a 7 hole stretch. He also had a critical 3 putt with it that helped me win 5 skins. I was playing with a 15 year old Pro V1 332. I think balls matter, but it's as much mental. Golfers are a superstitious bunch with their equipment, and believing you have the right equipment is almost as important as having the right equipment.
  16. I like Stevens. Only played it once so far. Rockwood is still my favorite. Wide open, and views of a much superior city in my opinion
  17. Ha, didn't see the new pages of comments and that Preston already responded. Preston is the man!
  18. Wow, congrats! I also hit some at the PGA store before and after mine came in, and agree that the stock shaft isn't for me, but the upgraded Vizard shafts available through Honma is great. I hit it well and liked it before, but having the weight kit and being able to put a 15g up front is huge for me. I've thought about trying other weights in other positions instead of the 3g, but I like the way it's working now. Since there isn't a toe weight option(other than lead tape), maybe the heavier front/back weights would counter balance the lighter heel weight to give you the feel you want. Maybe @PrestonAtHonma can give you some insight on the weight options, but I would say to try every possible configuration to get the numbers dialed in.
  19. NewSUB70irons and HONMATR20440DRIVERforMGStesting MadeitAgreatSeasonSofarwithaFewMonthLeftToGo Wow, did it in 4 words!
  20. Here's the link. Highly recommend. I've gone through most of the free months stuff already
  21. @xOldBenKenobiX we expect your full review of the club in 5 weeks.
  22. With a swing like that, you have to be mentally strong! I also use the two-finger overlap grip like Furyk, but not many others do.
