  1. Bases on some feedback the testers received from @GolfSpy Stroker, I got a little ahead of myself. Wanted to take it back to the start and show everyone how the product arrived and some initial thoughts. Great looking balls, crisp packaging, much like you would expect, but since golfballs.com had to repackage them after the custom Align XL printing was applied, I was even more impressed that it looked like OEM packaging from the start. Also, there was a great personal note from their Dir of Marketing, which was a nice touch. The line itself goes halfway around the ball, much like their site described. I've included a pic and video to get a better sense of the line. Yes, it's a caddy shack reference The color is true, lettering is legible and clean, and it has the same sheen as my ball. Unsure if the printing would be matte on a like a Volvik vivid ball, though... maybe another test needs to be conducted. My only very minor gripe is that the printing can be a bit faded in spots. Others have taken close-up shots of the line and some of the printing issues that show so I didn't include mine here. I've got a few of those too, but it's not a distraction on the tee or green since the ball is over 6' away from my eye when I'm bent over the club.
  2. Went out on Sunday with @HardcoreLooper for a sunny, albeit a bit windy round here in Richmond. Until I inexplicably lost the ball in some tall grass on #13, the line held up well and we both were lining up our putts using the markings. We both agreed that it helped in lining up the putts nicely, almost like it was an extension of the markings on our putters.
  3. Bring your sunglasses and galoshes
  4. While looks are one thing, I've always prescribed to the "function is fashion" ideology. So if I can hit it longer and straighter with a pink driver that has rabbit ears coming out the back, then so be it. Looking forward to trying out all the new and current models as I desperately need a new driver.
  5. Having played FF for many years now, this is my first foray into a different fantasy sport. When drafting, are we aiming for who we think will perform best all year, and then maybe a couple rotational guys depending on the tournament? Or is it a fresh start each tournament? Thinking the former, but wanted to verify before I research my strategy too much
  6. 2dz Srixon Z-Star Tommy Armour Impact #3 putter Puttout mat Box of the Pride pro tees 2-1/2" Chipping net And these silly things
  7. The best, and only way to survive Christmas morning
  8. After my football debacle, what do I have to lose? I'm in!
  9. One of the best ever, and my college buddies and I used to watch that almost weekly back in 2003. That concert/movie transcends generations.
  10. What if you guys did a traveling series and hit the top Public and/or Private courses in each state? Might be fun to see the state pride of members come out in the comments section! Plus, after each 10 course grouping, you guys could rerank all the courses to see who is tops!
  11. Appreciate being selected for this test, MGS! The timing is perfect as I have NEVER used any marking line on my balls and saw all the guys at the Presidents Cup lining up their shots with the marks on their balls. It made me a little jealous! Down here in Virginia, I might be able to get out on the course on some of those warmer winter days to get some real world testing data, otherwise it will be all about the putting mat in the basement. Santa might be good to me and bring a new putter as well. If so, i'll test both types out and see if there is any noticeable difference.
  12. Based on the reviews and checking out the Titlest, Mizuno, Callaway, Taylor made, Sun Mountain, and ultimately Ping - which is what I bought. Picked up the Hoofer on sale at my local shop for $160 and couldn't be happier. It's not the lightest, but tons of features, good club organization, and great shoulder straps.
  13. Same, in my NFL.com league. With bonuses, he nabbed me 50+ points last night. Unfortunately, I'm also facing him in another league and now i'm down 44pts (combined with their K+Def pts)...not looking good...
  14. Thanks for the extra pics @Quigleyd! That matte look is fantastic. Really looking forward to trying this out in a couple months.
  15. Just read over Tony's article and have to say I'm excited to try out the new driver in January! Only critique would be a photo or two of the crown, especially that matte black action Thoughts on the design, MOI characteristics, colorways, weights? What do you guys think??
  16. agree @PrecisionProGolf! I caddied for a ProAm couple weeks back and my player had a range finder. As soon as he walked up, if there was any question in his mind, he scoped the distance, grabbed a club, and was ready to hit when it was his turn in about minute/ minute & a half. We played 9 in about 1:30hr and the total 18 in about 3:30, due to some slower players in front of us. They played the pace of the pro, so it made folks keep up!
  17. Unfortunately i'm out for probably the rest of the year. Selling my house, moving, and all the fun that goes with it... Catch you guys next year!
  18. Based on how well I hit their current driver (but lacked funds to procure at the time), I'm very interested to see what new tech they will have in this thing! Maybe prices of current gen will drop too
  19. The poker chip and the cap both make a ton of sense! Thanks for sharing!
  20. Been trying a lot of drivers lately, since that's the biggest current gap in my bag. Candidates are: - Ping G410 (Max, LFT, SFT) - Cobra F9 - TM M5/6 & also a buddies M2 tour spec he no longer uses - Callaway Epic's Right now the Cobra F9 is the leader with 280yd+ carry #'s, however I went to the new Top Golf in Richmond on Saturday - side note, place was a ghost town on Sat AM for others in the area - and tried out my buddies M2 Tour Spec (apparently he somehow got it off the tour truck last year...I didn't ask to many questions) w/ a Speeder 65g S-flex shaft. Based on the trackers at Top Golf, I was getting carry distances in the 255-265yd range and most hits went where I wanted them to go. Also beat my other buddies in their regular scoring game since my wedges were rock-steady
  21. Stage 2 finally up! Thanks MGS for the opportunity to review these!
  22. All solid responses and appreciate the feedback...well, most of it @silver & black Did think about poker chips after the fact and that might be a good substitute, since I have a few of those lying around. Tee's give me pause since the height can vary so much with my fumbling fingers.
