ForTheLoveofTheGame reacted to Golfspy_CG2 in What golf books are you reading?
Big Fan of all John's books, both golf and basketball. He gives an insider's perspective that very few are able to do.

ForTheLoveofTheGame reacted to cnosil in Club Champion putter fitting?
Depends on you, the fitter, and what you want to accomplish. It measures the characteristics of your stroke; it does not fix your stroke, but identifies a putter that may help you achieve the ability to start the ball online and make better contact that could result in better speed control. I assume your golf galaxy fitting was simply setup to the putter to find the right length, and bend the lie to get it to sole correctly.....that isn't a putter fitting.

What are some goals you hope to achieve this summer?? And how do you plan on achieving them (i.e. lessons, short game drills, etc.)

I have been playing golf for approximately 10 years! I am 37 yrs old. My handicap is about a 14 currently.
Golf has allowed me to meet wonderful people from all works of life. It has been such a blessing! The game itself is so the ultimate metaphor for life. We can prepare, make decisions, and execute an action. Outcomes can be rewarding and also unrewarded due to circumstances not in our control. Either way, we must learn to cope, recover, and just take it all in as we enjoy the ride.
Ive always been an avid reader of the reviews and other content. Ive decided to join the community so I can contribute.
Augusta, Ga!! Current home course is Belle Meade Country Club.
Cant complain about any of the golf courses. I enjoy them all.
I am in the medical profession.
My username is borrowed from the baseball movie to describe golf as my most passionate sport.

Agreed! Congrats on the weight loss!!! Keep it up!
I definitely had the same experience with the ts3. But on the rounds i am on, the ts3 just felt so much better w better results compared to the m5. The m5 has had more predictable results so its in the bag rt now

ForTheLoveofTheGame reacted to GolfSpy_SHARK in Whats your favorite club for a “bump n’ run”
See I consider a bump and run anything where your getting 1 check and rolling. Can be from 30 yards out on an elevated green. Bump into the elevation and run onto the green....but the definition below leans towards more what you’re saying. I have always thought of bump and run from distanxe

If I've got less than 2ft of fringe I'll likely putt it. Better speed control with that club than anything else.
With more fringe and a long run-out I'll probably go 7-8 if uphill and 9-PW if downhill.
Pin in downhill. For non-covid rounds, pin out up hill. Let;s hope that's soon.

This is actually a shot from my daughter's bag when she was a Jr in High School. She plays Ping G-400 irons and Ping Rhapsody woods. Right before the season started, she asked if she could put my old Muirfield 1-iron in her bag. She had messed around with it from time to time but never hit it that solid.
Knowing that I asked her why she wanted it. Her response?
"I just want to establish my dominance on the tee".
Good answer. In it went.

This summer was supposed to be the year I qualify for Districts. I haven’t competed since 2005 and I still have the itch and I know I can play. It’ll take practice but my wife is 100% on board with me trying.
COVID has other plans. This now becomes my 15 month plan.

ForTheLoveofTheGame reacted to GolfSpy_SHARK in What are your summer goals???
For me 1st and foremost for me as @DennisMurphy said being grateful to just play. We have yet to have courses open and I have the itch so bad but this year will be different I think. Always happy to be out there but this year and years to come will be even better because of all this.
2nd my goal is to drop my handicap to At least 5 and in turn be playing sub 80 rounds more consistently.
lastly during my fitting I had no idea I was hitting down with my driver (5 degrees down). I have been working ALL winter in this and am getting close to an even strike not quite up yet. My goal is to be consistently 280 off the tee because of this .

I use my 7 iron. I’ve watched a few reviews where they suggest using a hybrid. Might give that a go this summer

Im sorry to hear about your courses being shut down due to the pandemic. These are most definitely trying times. There was an interesting article I read on how how to come down from a 18 to 9 handi.. Ill share the link just incase you havent read it (first day on here, hope its not a policy violation)

Great question although it’s coming to winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Few goals this year.
1 is more yoga and golf flexibility exercises. I believe you can change your swing and swing habits working on your body.
2 Create playing stats during the rounds and focus my practice time on my weaknesses.
3 Be grateful.. Sometimes we practice and practice and our expectations change and get a little inpatient.

Just read These 3 books. Nice golf stories, although the 3rd one (St.Andrews) spent a few chapters too many on back ground stuff. Overall nice reading and pretty good understanding of Golf.
