  1. Hopefully the new Snell golf balls have better quality control. Ordered 2dz mtb prime x. They came with blisters on the edge of dimples. They sent me another 2dz. Also defective and one was terrible, e picture. 31 of 48 balls were bad. Good customer service but bad QA.
  2. https://www.snellgolf.com/pages/the-2024-prime-lineup I just ordered a test pack for the heck of it, but I'll probably end up using the Prime 3.0.
  3. Snell Golf should be ashamed…but proud. RTB Prime X in depth review. I cracked this ball on my 5th wedge shot under 100 yards during warm up. Average swing speeds with 60 degree 80-84 and Average 3 hybrid 94-99. Typically I play a pro v or avx, but I have a Maine mountain and seacoast golf trip coming up in May; 6 days, 6 courses and 7 total rounds. The weather might be ripping and I’m going to lose/ beat up some balls (16 handicap going into this season). Belgrade Lakes rocks could eat a dozen alone if you’re not accurate. Figure I realistically need 1.5-2.5 dozen, so I’m bringing 6 . I bought 10 cases of Snell Golf MTB Prime X for $200 at end of the year sale, an unbeatable deal and I’ve been wanting to try them. Figure I can use them as beaters if they suck and be supplied for the season if they’re good. Ive read great things about performance…and a few about durability. These balls feel exceptional in my opinion. Feel so so soft on full shots and still really solid on short handsy shots. In a perfect world I’d have this feel from 180 yards and firmer pro v feel when you need to get nippy from 40 yards over a bunker into a downslope. Tonight I took the Snells to the indoor club I am playing at this winter (trackman). I always warm up on a par 3 with 2 pins at 80 and 95 yards. Tonight I brought a couple sleeves of Snells for testing. These are perfect distances for full warm up shots on my 54 and 60. I generate solid spin and cut at the ball pretty hard, but have never damaged a ball. I checked the Shell ball after each swing and after swing 1 the outer layer had some indentation. Enough so that if I was not a somewhat bad golfer or was playing in a tournament I would change ball. I took 4 more swings all with the same result until I found a large crack on swing 5 and changed balls to finish my warmup. After my warmup I put a new snell back in play for some driver, hybrid and long irons shots. The ball once again felt exceptional and performed nearly identical to my preferred AVX. Launched a little higher and a little spinier, but marginal. While the ball held up better it still took a ton of damage relative to what I’ve experienced before. I have uploaded a few pictures of 2 snell balls after 5 wedge shots and a few iron/ hybrid shots. The balls did not seem to take damage on driver. I have also uploaded a shot of a Titleist AVX that has taken over 300 shots for comparison. I take roughly 500-600 full shots a week currently since November and have gamed 9 AVX the entire time. I have only had to retire one ball for chips/dents. I feel like I would go through 6 Snell balls a round on grass just from damage. A sand shot will scuff these. Excellent performing ball with atrocious durability. A lot to be proud of, but also a lot of work to do. Hopefully the new 2024 offerings address the one major issue of outer case durability.
  4. Just received an email this morning for this special discount offer... crazy good price!! Unfortunately they are only offering the Prime X (Prime would be a better match for me) but if the X fits your swing/ball speed and you haven't tried Dean Snell's offering before, it's a perfect time to do so.
  5. So I just opened a 48 pack of Maxfli Tour golfballs from Golf Galaxy today and when I opened the case the smell was crazy strong! It's a bit hard to say exactly what the smell is--I'd say it's closest to paint thinner or maybe a strong paint odor. It's hard for me to emphasize just how strong the smell is. Has anyone else noticed that before with the new Maxfli or any other brands? Maybe during the great golf ball test of 2023 @GolfSpyC @Tony Covey MGS Maybe they are just extra fresh
  6. Duration: 00:50:30 In this episode, Chris and Tony discuss the new Snell MTB Prime and Prime X golf balls. COVID was quite a doozy for Snell. After Taylormade purchased Nassau, Snell was scrambling to find a reputable factory overseas to produce their golf balls–they had to adapt. To wrap things out, the guys chat about the Vokey 64W's. There's a lot on deck so kick back, watch, listen, or do both! This is No Putts Given. 7. Duration: 00:43:43 What's going on with Rory's driver besides hitting it 375 yards In this episode, Chris and Tony discuss Rory's displeasure with his new Stealth 2 driver. Did a simple length adjustment and shaft change help him out? Regardless, the average golfer should pay attention to what's happening, having a shorter driver can possibly yield longer distances. Plus, we chat with Dean Snell and get his unique take on the proposed "ball rollback" the PGA unveiled a couple weeks back. There's a lot on deck so kick back, watch, listen, or do both! 8. I was listing to Inside the Ropes on the PGA channel on XM radio yesterday and they had the owner of Snell Golf on, I believe his name is Bob Snell but not positive. Anyway, Apparently he was with Titleist and started the Taylor Made golf ball division. So Im thinking he may have a clue what he's doing. Has anyone used their golf balls and if so how were they? How do they compare to the bigger name guys, Titleist, Callaway, Taylor Made, Srixon. Thanks
  9. Interesting that Snell is releasing the new Get Sum at this time of year, their two-piece ionomer ball, and the description of the changes sound intriguing. Let us know if anyone gets these and how they perform. I’m curious… https://www.snellgolf.com/collections/golf-balls/products/get-sum
  10. I just went to order some balls for the season and I see Snell is back to capping orders to 2 dozen per order citing raw material shortages. Is Taylor Made squeezing them out of the factory they just bought?
  11. I just ordered 2 dozen, the interim max, just FYI for any other MTB-Black users. I have never bought less than 4 dozen before, but 2 dozen is better than none. Evidently the MTB-X has not been impacted (yet?). Bummer... https://youtu.be/djaxIVldKSU https://www.snellgolf.com/blogs/news/q2-inventory-update
  12. I just started testing the MTB-Black and MTB-X against my gamer. One thing I noticed during my first round was the MTB-X appeared to have a lower trajectory. I've looked at various reviews/tests and Snell marketing, but have yet to see anything to indicate that there should really be much difference (in trajectory) between the two at all. Anyone else notice a significant difference?
  13. “Transparency and honesty, with our valued customers, has always been of the most importance. Dean Snell sits down to update you on plans for a product shipping, how Covid-19 is affecting our manufacturing, and NEW prototypes on Golf Balls.” After FREE shipping for 6 years, it sounds like there will be a partial shipping charge starting tomorrow - in case you want to order today? If the cost of shipping comes back down after the pandemic, free shipping may resume at Snell. I’ll stick with Snell no matter what, they’ve always offered very good value and been more than fair with customers in my experience. The pandemic has made it tougher on EVERYONE. https://youtu.be/SOMoCqPe7i8
  14. Dean even mentions MGS golf ball testing

  16. I love Snell golf balls! Great price on a great ball. I usually play the MTB-X, but actually have a stockpile of the neon yellow Get Sum balls for sunrise morning rounds. Huge fan. Here’s my question for other Snell users: Do you find that the balls collect mud/clumps on them more than other balls? Maybe just a phase I’m going through, but it seems to me that I get more mud balls with my Snells than I do other balls. I’m wondering if there is a cover difference that is more susceptible. Or maybe I’m just imagining things. Anybody else have similar experience?
  17. I know we have all seen the tests but what would explain the tighter results of a human testing a golf ball vs a robot testing. I say this because TXG on youtube have tested the Cut Grey vs the ProV1x and the disparity wasnt as bad. Just love the idea of giving smaller companies a go. I'd like to see your thoughts on using any of these rather than "Ball "x" is on sale used go grab ball "X" for less than a new Pro V". Vice Pro Plus ( 34) Cut Grey (19) Here's a weird one Spalding Tour X (24)....
  18. Stumbled across what I thought was a new article about the MTB Black vs MTB Red on Snell's website... anyone know whatever happened to the Red?
  19. Hi All, I just wanted to share my experience with Vice and Snell. It all started last year. I was a little in between on ball selection with the Vice Pro and Pro+. Then while I was playing i found a Snell MTB-Black near the hazard that I picked up and figured I'd give it a try. I played that ball for about 5 weeks at league and a few rounds during that time. So I was intrigued as I had never even heard about them. My friend that I always golf with was skeptical. And frankly stubborn. He was convinced he had the ball he wanted to always play. So here's what I ended up doing: I ordered the sample pack that has two sleeves of the MTB-X and MTB-Black. I already had some Vice on me that were brand new. I took all four balls and covered all the markings with a marker. Boxed it all off equally trying to not let on what any could have been. We live in North Dakota so it's just indoor simulators for us right now. But we went to the range. I told my buddy it was just to get a few swings in. So we get started, I pull the range session up and we start looking at all the details. I'd put 1-4 on the ball and only I knew which was which, then I asked him to do the same for me. So let's see what these can do in a blind test. It was really eye opening when you don't have the preconceived idea of what a ball is supposed to do and what it actually does. I was actually very impressed with the Snell MTB- Black results the most. I'll have to do this again but in an order and clearly marked to show some data points for all the trackman number for the data nerds like me. All of the numbers we were seeing, he was convinced it was his Vice. But I saw a significant jump from 10-15 yds with PW-8 iron. I was thinking about it as it could potentially cause me to change up some club selections it was making such a difference. The ball would just absolutely fly off the face. I could even feel the difference. Now the reason I say this is when you look at the website trying to decide. Their chart is kind of confusing. It has the same details for driving and around the green. But differences with feel and spin. It just made me chuckle because it made me wonder why show it if they are the same. But as I did the research, which I probably do way to much of, it made me realize what Snell was going for and he really does simplify it when watching the videos. Keep in mind he's trying to market them. With the other 3 balls I would say they were all around the same spin rate, distance, launch, etc. There wasn't a noticable difference when hitting the Pro and Pro+ between each other for me. Which makes sense why I could never decide between the two. Although I will say, what I like about these 3 was that the spin was down a little bit. And if you've ever been to the frozen tundra of the Red River Valley. " It's windy" can the biggest understatement I could ever make in this post. We can have some great weather in the summer. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the cold in my opinion. But some days it can be 30mph winds at league and you just have to figure it out. There are not many trees around. So what I'm going to do is still have some MTB-X on hand for those windy days. That ball will really have it's advantages on those days. I just wanted to write a little story about how things may not be as they seem when you know what you are hitting. And to try something new. I was thoroughly impressed and I'll be gaming some MTB-Black to start the year. With an MTB-X on standby. And yes, my friend said throw an extra dozen of the MTB-Black on the order too. He seemed be convinced to throw a few in the bag this year also. Order some samples, maybe get a friend to set up a blind test for you too? Then it will inspire you to know you have the right ball for you, whichever it may be. And hit some drives. But really work the scoring clubs. Use your wedges and the 9 or 8 iron. That's where you want to get those birdie chances and confidence from. Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion on this. I'm going stir crazy here since the outbreak and we still have a lot of snow. But warm weather is coming and hopefully opening the courses in April. That is all. Take care

  21. So as luck would have it Dean Snell is in my flight for a member/guest I am playing in this week. Our paths have crossed before at this event and only lightning could save him and his partner from defeat at the hands of my partner and I. We tee it up at 2:30 on Friday. I am looking for suggestions to get in his head. Here is what I have so far: I hear the ball rollback is a done deal Soft is long I heard Titliest is suing you You should read my MTB-X review from 2019 and go back to the drawing board Ever lose to a guy playing a Wilson ball before today I'm looking for 4 more ideas so I can drop something on him on all nine holes. Your input is appreciated!
  22. I've decided I'm going to play one ball, and it's going to be either a MaxFli Tour X or Snell MTB X. If they were both the identical price, which would you choose?
  23. I'm going to take the advice of MGS and start playing one ball, although it means giving away a few dozen balls of various makes. I'm over 70, handicap 16, swing speed between 85-90. What do you think would be the best choice for my game?
