mikeanthony
Any Spies gaming Mizuno’s T22 or Cleveland’s latest Zipcore wedges? If so, how do you like them and what were your previous wedges? Currently game SM7s at 54/14 and 58/10, they’re almost 4 years old and are beginning to wear out … have always enjoyed Vokeys, but getting a bit cost conscious and the T22s appear to be a great deal, along with no up-charge on my preferred shaft. Also like that Mizuno has a 58/4 … looking to go with high bounce sand wedge and low bounce lob wedge. fozcycle
Have Cleveland Zipcores 50/54/58……..currently gaming Hogan Tk-15 49/53/57 w/Recoils. Michael Breed said not to play wedges with shafts heavier than your irons. Well my irons have Recoli 64gram and the Zips have a 128 gram steel shaft. I really like the Zips so I will be changing shafts in the near future. mikeanthony 1 Quote Driver: 0311 XF 10.5* w/Project X Cypher 40 gram Senior shaft or 0811 XF 12* w/Evenflo Riptide CB Senior shaft Fairways: 0211 5W & 7W w/ Evenflo Riptide CB regular shaft and Tour Edge E521 9W w/Fubuki HD50 regular shaft Hybrid: None in bag at the moment Irons: Titleist T300 5-PW w/Fubuki MV Senior graphite shafts w/Golf Pride Tour Wedges: Edison forged 49*, 53* and 57* wedges with KB PGI Senior shafts(80 grm). Went back and forth between the two and felt like I couldn't go wrong with either ... eventually went with the T22s mainly for they have a lot more variety in loft and bounce options; placed the order this morning. Opted for their 55/13 and 59/5 wedges. The weight was wrong for me and I couldn't get comfortable with them. Sold them and bought some ZipCores after a fitting at True Spec. Interesting on the SM7. I would’ve gone with their SM9s, but with my Nippon shaft and grip preferences, they would’ve been $199. Love Vokeys, but have to be cost conscious at the moment. Especially when I’m buying a pair How different were the SM7s from a feel and weight perspective? Mizuno & Cleveland seemed to be the only two wedges I was seriously interested in with no up-charges on the Nippon shaft and MCC Align grip. Remember having the Tour Action 588 wedges in h/s, loved them. Always feel boardy and heavy, and I can't hit them. Hopefully whatever succeeds the Tour Racks doesn't change a whole lot because I really like them. Like @yungkory said, they just felt heavy and boardy. I just couldn't stop hitting them fat. I would practice and practice and feel like I had found a groove with them (pun intended) and then in a shot that mattered, chunk. I took them to my fitter to have him check swingweight, thinking maybe I just needed to counterbalance or something, but they were only a single point heavier on swingweight, same shaft and same length. On the shots I actually hit solid, they were fine. But I just couldn't figure out how to hit them and how to develop any touch with them mikeanthony 1 Quote Driver: ZX5 LS MkII 9.5* (@ 9.0*) with 46.5" Ventus Blue 6X 3-wood: SIM 15* with Diamana Limited 75S 5-wood: RADspeed 18.5* with Motore X F3 60S 2i: ZX with SteelFiber i95 Stiff 4hy: TS3 23* with Tensei AV Blue 70 S 4i-7i ZX7, 8i-PW Z-Forged, Modus3 Tour 120 S 50*, 55* RTX 6 Modus3 Tour 125 60* RTX Full Face ZipCore DG Spinner S400 Putter: Toulon Chicago with a Quad Tour or HB SOFT Milled 10.5S with UST All-in Ball: Chrome Tour (but I might still have some Left Dashes hanging around) Bag: Ltd Edition Tartan, blue/green/yellow Using to keep track of my shots Tested: D7 Forged 3i-PW, KBS Tour-V 110S - Official Review Blind Ball Test (Ball #3 vs Ball #4) - Unofficial Review V3 GPS Watch + Tags - Official Review Vero X2 - Official Review The Stack System - Official Review
