I'd be interested pending dates/schedule/kids/life/etc

I'm probably only good for a single day in the Austin-ish area if it works out

Can't book a place like PGA Frisco unless you do it as a stay and play. Nightly rates are over $400, so that would almost certainly lead to a veto from my wife. I think it would make sense to play a place like Bandit (as suggested above), or courses in the Austin area.

Let us know if either of those dates work (and preference if both). Maybe that will get the ball rolling.

Depending on where it is, I might not stay the night, but I would definitely be done to play a round on at least ne of the days. if it's Austin or DFW area (or in-between) I'd probably just drive in that morning for the round. 

 

and yeah, unfortunately a lot of the new nice places that are coming up are either stay & play, or invite-only to play the course, which is honestly making it difficult to play good golf around some of these areas.

Have you guys considered Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco? The course is fantastic with very reasonable stay & play packages. Last year, we stayed 2 nights and played 4 rounds of golf for $450 per person (arrived Fri. played pm 18; Sat. 18-36 holes; Sun. am 18 prior to departure).

I’d wager it’s be the best golf + lodging value in the US - includes 2 rounds for each night stay. Location: 1 hr from SA/ATX, 3 hrs from HOU, 4 hrs from DFW. I highly recommend every aspect of the facility.

Agreed. Venue is pretty fluid; more important right now is getting a rough headcount.
